Java 3D 1.3 Requirements
- For Solaris:
- SPARC system with a frame buffer that supports OpenGL;
(e.g. Expert3D, Elite3D, Creator3D, PGX)
- Solaris 7 or later
- Java 2 SDK 1.3.1 or later. This can be obtained from the Java Software web site, or from the Java Platform Technologies for Solaris web site.
- OpenGL 1.2.2.
- SUNWi1of (ISO-8859-1 (Latin-1) Optional Fonts) package
- For Windows (OpenGL version):
- Windows NT 4.0 (Service Pack 3), Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows 2000
- Java2 SDK 1.3.1 or later from Sun Microsystems. This includes the Java Plug-In (JPI) to update Java in your browser.
- OpenGL 1.1 from Microsoft or an accelerator which supports OpenGL 1.1. For more information about OpenGL, visit the OpenGL.org web site.
- For Windows (DirectX version):
- Windows 98, Windows ME, or Windows 2000
- Java2 SDK 1.3.1 or later from Sun Microsystems. This includes the Java Plug-In (JPI) to update Java in your browser.
Java 3D 1.3 Install instructions:
Download the appropriate Java 3D runtime executable from the download page on the Java web site:
- Solaris:
- Runtime only : java3d-1_3-solaris-sparc-rt.bin
- Runtime and SDK: java3d-1_3-solaris-sparc-sdk.bin
- Runtime 64 bit support: java3d-1_3-solaris-sparcv9.bin
For the two runtime versions, execute the script in the destination jre directories. Note: The 64 bit runtime only contains the nessesary 64 bit components. Install it in the jre directory after installing the regular runtime files.
For the runtime and sdk bundle, execute the script in the destination sdk directory.
- Windows OpenGL:
- Runtime only : java3d-1_3-windows-i586-opengl-rt.exe
- Runtime and SDK: java3d-1_3-windows-i586-opengl-sdk.exe
- Windows DirectX:
- Runtime only : java3d-1_3-windows-i586-directx-rt.exe
- runtime and SDK: java3d-1_3-windows-i586-directx-sdk.exe
These installers are InstallShield executables.
Run the executable:
After accepting the license agreement you will be given the opportunity to select where you want Java 3D to be installed.
After Java 3D is installed:
Once the release has been extracted, the documentation for Java 3D may be downloaded and extracted.
Setting CLASSPATH
If Java 3D is installed into the JDK or JRE, you do not need to include the Java 3D jar files in your CLASSPATH, nor do you need to include the Java 3D shared libraries in your PATH or LD_LIBRARY_PATH. You should include "." in your CLASSPATH or ensure that CLASSPATH is not set.
