Sun Management Center Introduction

Sun Management Center software provides in-depth monitoring and advanced management capabilities for Sun servers to enhance system performance, reliability, security, and utilization. It allows you to monitor all the components in your data center, such as boards, power supplies, fans, and CPUs.

The Sun Management Center framework consists of the console, server, and agent layers. The Sun Management Center agent typically runs on the server that is to be managed and consists of dynamically loadable modules, each capable of modeling and managing a specific set of data items, such as hardware, operating system, and application data.

The Sun Management Center console GUI interacts with the Sun Management Center server to get data, configuration, and image files necessary to present the views of the managed servers. The server layer acts as a request broker between the managed servers and the console, and it handles specialized tasks, such as topology management, event management, configuration management, and trap handling.
