Oracle Account Reconciliation Cloud, December Update
This document outlines the upcoming Oracle Account Reconciliation Cloud update.
Oracle will apply the latest updates to your test environments starting at 22:00 UTC (15:00 PDT) on Friday, December 7, 2018 and to your production environment on Friday, December 21, 2018, also starting at 22:00 UTC. The updates will be applied to your environments during the first subsequent daily maintenance.
The Oracle Help Center, which provides access to updated documentation, has a new look and feel. The updates will be available on December 7, 2018. Some of the links to new feature documentation included in this document will not work until after the Oracle Help Center update is complete.
Reminder: Backing up the daily maintenance snapshot and restoring the environment as needed are self-service operations. Oracle recommends that you download the maintenance snapshot every day to a local server.
NOTE: Account Reconciliation Cloud does not support migration of snapshots from the latest service version to an earlier service version (for example, when moving snapshots between test and production pods during the window when test is upgraded before production.) Migration between the same versions will still be supported. Some objects, such as Profiles, may still be moved from the latest to an earlier version outside of migration snapshots by exporting them from the latest service version and importing them into the earlier version.

Integration Improvements Between Reconciliation Compliance and Transaction Matching
In this release update (18.12), Transaction Matching is more integrated with Reconciliation Compliance making it easier to use both modules with similar set up and configuration. Customers using Transaction Matching can also now benefit from available features in Reconciliation Compliance such as a more robust Reconciliation List view with ability to select columns and use filtering, use of bulk upload, and use of teams functionality.
Highlights of the changes are:
- Transaction Matching will now use the concept of Formats and Profiles in order to create reconciliations as is done in Reconciliation Compliance.
- Formats can be any of these three new methods:
- Balance Comparison with Transaction Matching;
- Account Analysis with Transaction Matching; or
- Transaction Matching Only.
- Formats can be any of these three new methods:
-
Balances can now be loaded the same way as period-end Reconciliation Compliance balances. Note that Transaction Matching transactions will be loaded the same way as previously.
-
Transactions Matching reconciliations will be converted to Profiles and linked to Match Types instead of creating or editing reconciliations separately in Transaction Matching.
- Transaction Matching will now use Period end dates for the period end balancing that appears on the Balance Summary dialog. Therefore, there is no longer a need to configure Transaction Matching calendars separately.
UPGRADE CONSIDERATIONS FOR EXISTING TRANSACTION MATCHING CUSTOMERS
As a result of the integration improvements, certain actions will be performed automatically upon release of 18.12.
Migration tasks performed automatically include:
- Transaction Matching reconciliations will be automatically upgraded to Profiles.
- The preparer and viewer set in the Transaction Matching reconciliation will be available in the Profile.
After the migration takes place, the Administrator can use the Matching Migration card to check the status of their Transaction Matching reconciliation to Profile upgrade. Review the status column to confirm that your Transaction Matching reconciliations were successfully upgraded.

Parallel Review and Approval Enables Multiple Preparers or Reviewers to Act on a Reconciliation
Sometimes you may need to have levels of preparation or review for a reconciliation. An example is if members of an approval team might all need to approve a reconciliation but the order in which they approve does not matter. Now you can assign the profile workflow to all members of a team by using the "Require Action By" field to select “All Preparers” or “All Reviewers”.
Key Resources

Allow Workflow Users to Perform and Approve Reassignment Requests Directly
First, an Administrator has to turn on this feature to allow workflow users to directly perform and approve reassignment of reconciliations rather than submitting requests to an Administrator or Power User for approval. The Administrator allows workflow users this ability through Reassignment Requests under System Settings under Configuration.
Once users can perform reassignments, workflow users will see a Profiles card under Applications where they can request Profiles to be assigned to them. Users can then approve reassignment requests from their Worklist.

Data Management Dimension and Attribute Column Enhancements
Dimension and attribute columns can now accept a maximum of 300 characters. Formerly, the dimension column accepted a maximum of 80 characters, attribute columns 1-7 accepted a maximum of 70 characters, and attribute columns 8-14 accepted a maximum of 20 characters.
In addition, you can now import values into a maximum of 40 attribute columns. Formerly, you could only import a maximum of 14 attribute columns.
System Maintenance Task Options Enhancements
The Maintain FDMEE Data Tables option has been renamed to Maintain Data Tables by Application.
The new Maintain Data Table by Location option allows you to delete data for a specific location by period or category. You can still delete all locations for a target application by using the Maintain Data Tables by Application option.
A new Maintain Setup Data option has been added so that you can view and delete an orphan row or invalid data that cannot be accessed or deleted from the user interface. This data may include an orphan row from an import format, location, or data load rule. It can also include a duplicate row, or a Cloud user id or password defined for a local target application.

Export of Adjustments and Transactions as Journal Entries
In Transaction Matching, you can export adjustments or transactions as dual sided journal entries that can then be imported into your ERP system. Using Jobs History, the exported journal entries are made available in a text file.
In addition, attributes for Adjustment and Support Types have now been made global so that you can reuse these attributes by choosing from a drop down list.
The process for exporting adjustments and transactions as journal entries is:
- Create global attributes for Adjustment and Support Types.
- Define the journal columns.
- Map transaction/adjustment attributes to journal attributes.
- Optionally, when exporting transactions, you can filter the list of transactions.
- Perform the export of the journal entries in a text file using Jobs History.

Proposed Changes to Application-Level Access Control
Using Groups created in Access Control, EPM Cloud supports application-level access control for planning, consolidation and close, tax reporting, and Oracle Enterprise Data Management Cloud applications. In addition to the custom groups created in Access Control, access control screens list predefined identity domain roles (Service Administrator, Power User, User and Viewer) as groups.
Pre-defined Roles and Groups in Forms Access Control Screen
With a view to simplifying security across EPM Cloud and to ensure that application-level access control can be seamlessly migrated across environments Oracle plans to remove the ability to display predefined roles as groups in access control screens. After this change, you will no longer see predefined roles listed when you search for groups in access control screens.
NOTE: The proposed change will not affect how you create and manage groups or use them for application-level access control.
Before making this change, Oracle wants to evaluate the impact, if any, that the proposed change will have on your environments. If you are concerned that the proposed change will affect your environment, please create a service request explaining your use case.
New EPM Automate Utility Version
A new version of the EPM Automate Utility is available with this update. This version includes the following new commands
- addUsersToGroup, which adds a batch of users to an existing group in Access Control using an ANSI or UTF-8 encoded Comma Separated Value (CSV) file that was uploaded to the environment.
- removeUsersFromGroup, which removes users listed in an ANSI or UTF-8 encoded CSV file from a group maintained in Access Control.
Additionally, this version includes enhancements to the following commands:
- assignrole: this command has been enhanced to provision users with roles belonging to a planning, consolidation, tax reporting, or data management application.
- unassignrole: this command has been enhanced to revoke the application roles granted to a list of users identified in a CSV file.
- provisionreport: this command has been enhanced to, optionally, generate a Provisioning Report (.CSV format) that lists only the users who are assigned the Identity Domain Administrator role. This command has also been enhanced to, optionally, create a simplified version of the Provisioning Report, which lists only the pre-defined roles and inherited application roles to which users are assigned. By default, this command now generates the classic Provisioning Report, which lists component roles that are subsumed into the pre-defined roles.
NOTE: In a future update, Oracle will make the simplified Provisioning Report as the default report that is generated from Access Control as well as using the provisionreport command. You will still be able to create the classic Provisioning Report using this command.

New EPM Automate Utility Version
A new version of the EPM Automate Utility is available with this update. This version includes the renameSnapshot, which enables you to rename a snapshot available in an environment to prevent the maintenance process from overwriting it. Customers who have small applications can use this command to archive snapshots in the environment subject to snapshot retention policies.
This version also includes updates to the rundailyMaintenance command, which has been enhanced to take skipNext as a new optional parameter. This parameter allows you to skip the next occurrence of the daily maintenance process. Use this parameter to prevent the daily maintenance process from interfering with long running ad hoc processes of unknown duration that you execute in an environment.
Additionally, the runcalc command has been updated with the DATA_POV_NAME optional parameter, which enables you to run Profitability and Cost Management Cloud calculations using rules in a model POV against data in a different data POV without copying rules.

Provisioning Changes to Simplify Role Usage
The following changes that affect provisioning are included in this update.
- Only the identity domain users who are assigned to a predefined role (Service Administrator, Power User, User, and Viewer) can log into service environments.
- Users who are not assigned to predefined roles but were previously assigned to groups in Access Control will no longer be able to sign into the environment.
- Only users who are assigned to predefined roles can be added as group members in Access Control.
- Users who are not assigned to predefined roles cannot be added to groups using the importSnapshot EPM Automate command.
- Users who are not assigned to predefined roles cannot be assigned Access Control privileges (Read, Write, Execute) on application artifacts.
- The Provisioning report will show only the users who are assigned to predefined roles.
- Users who are not assigned to predefined roles are not included in the comma separated value file that results from exporting the Provisioning Report.
- Exports using Migration will not export (in Groups.CSV content of group membership) users who were not provisioned with predefined roles but were assigned to groups in Access Control.

Oracle Account Reconciliation Cloud, June Update
This document outlines announcements and considerations in the upcoming Oracle Account Reconciliation Cloud update.
Oracle will apply the latest updates to your test environments starting at 22:00 UTC (15:00 PDT) on Friday, June 1, 2018 and to your production environment on Friday, June 15, 2018, also starting at 22:00 UTC. The updates will be applied to your environments during the first subsequent daily maintenance.
The Oracle Help Center, which provides access to updated documentation, has a new look and feel. The updates will be available on June 1, 2018.
Tips And Considerations
Backing up the daily maintenance snapshot and restoring the environment as needed are self-service operations. Oracle recommends that you download the maintenance snapshot every day to a local server.

Accessing Exported Transactions File
In Transaction Matching, you can now access the exported transactions file directly from Unmatched Transactions in addition to going to Jobs History.

Updates to Snapshot Retention Policy
The daily maintenance process has been enhanced to prevent large accumulation of snapshots (over 150 GB) in EPM Cloud environments.
By default, the snapshots that you create through the export process or upload to an environment are stored for a period not exceeding 60 days after which they are automatically removed. Starting with this update, the daily maintenance process will automatically remove snapshots prior to sixty days, oldest first, to prevent the total size of all snapshots from exceeding 150 GB, which may adversely impact your environment. The daily maintenance snapshot, irrespective of its size, is always retained in EPM Cloud environments.

Enhancements to the Account Reconciliation Cloud User Interface
This update includes major enhancements to the Account Reconciliation Cloud user interface that achieve these goals:
- Streamlined Integration Between Reconciliation Compliance and Transaction Matching
- Conformance with Other EPM Cloud Services
- Enhanced Reconciliation Actions User Interface
- Ability to Customize Your Display
- Last Tab Accessed in Cards is now Retained
- Context Sensitive Help Available Through New User Assistance Menu
The next several topics provide details on each of these.
Streamlined Integration Between Reconciliation Compliance and Transaction Matching
Account Reconciliation Cloud has reorganized the cards and navigation throughout the service to make it easier and more seamless to work in both Reconciliation Compliance and Transaction Matching.
The Home Page reflects this streamlined integration between transaction matching functionality and the period-end reconciliation process.
Some highlights of the more streamlined navigation that helps you get to your work faster include:
- Worklist shows your period end reconciliation work to do.
- The Reconciliations card you easy access to your period end reconciliations. An administrator can review work or check on progress and users can work on the reconciliations assigned to them. The new Reconciliations actions dialog has been dramatically improved. See Enhanced Reconciliation Actions User Interface.
- The Matching card gets you to your reconciliation work in Transaction Matching.
- Dashboards links to two Reconciliation Compliance dashboards (Overview and Compliance) and a Match Metrics dashboard for Transaction Matching.
- The Navigator no longer requires you to select either Reconciliation Compliance or Transaction Matching and contains all the tasks of both modules.
- The Reports card gives you access in one place to Reconciliation Compliance and Transaction Matching reports (predefined and the custom reports you created).
- The new Application card has key functionality:
- The Tools card links to these tasks:
- The Academy has links to videos and tutorials for both Reconciliation Compliance and Transaction Matching. Note that videos and tutorials will the updated over the coming months to align with the 18.05 changes.
Conformance with Other Enterprise Performance Management Cloud Services
Since many customers have multiple Oracle EPM Cloud offerings, the user interface reflects changes to the cards on the Home page to conform to usage in other services which makes it faster to navigate functionality since it’s in the same location.
For example, some of the major changes are:
- The Application card contains the important feature functionality that you need to access often such as Configuration, Profiles, Periods, Jobs, Archive, and Report Configuration.
- The Tools card changed from having most configuration and system settings to containing the common EPM Cloud features such as: Appearance (to customize your user interface), Announcements, Daily Maintenance, Service Activity, Access Control, and Migration.
- The Console card is no longer used across EPM cloud services.

Enhanced Reconciliation Actions User Interface
Based on customer feedback, the Reconciliation Actions dialog has been redesigned in order to increase efficiency when users work on reconciliations.
The old dialog had a vertical layout and required a lot of scrolling. This graphic shows the old dialog with the summary tab, adjustments, and a history tab showing the audit trail across the top.
The new Reconciliation Actions dialog looks like this:
Here’s some features of the new layout:
On the upper right, the unexplained difference is always showing so that you can focus on getting that difference down to zero.
The Balance Summary Numbers panel now shows two columns for GL Balance and AP Subledger Balance. If you click on the adjustments number or the tab, you can see a detailed list of the transactions.
There’s a new graph panel that displays the trend over time of the previous reconciliations. New reconcilers can see if they are in the range that was previously achieved. Existing users can see trends and figure out if there are new issues to address based on those trends.
The right hand side contains key metrics for the reconciliation: who owns it, when it’s due, and any violations. You can also see the most recent attachments and comments.
Other functionality, such as properties, comments, questions, attachments, are taken off the summary page and placed in right hand side tabs that are easier to access.

Enhanced User Experience in Reconciliation Compliance
As of early calendar year, 2018, the old method of accessing the Reconciliation List, Transactions List, and Profiles List will no longer be available. These changes provide you with quick, easy navigation.
Beginning in this update, software issues addressed each month will be posted to My Oracle Support.
Change in Transaction Matching Table Requires Custom Reports Revision
Transaction Matching transaction reports created prior to 18.02 will give invalid/wrong results from 18.03 onwards. This happens because a change was made and the Transaction Match ID is now stored in the respective dynamic tables (TM_TRANS_*) in the MATCH_ID column and the TM_MATCH_TRANS table is deprecated from 18.02. This requires that custom reports on transactions using TM_MATCH_TRANS must be changed to use the transactions dynamic table (TM_TRANS_*). In a future update, this will not be needed. Sample queries can be created using the Transaction Matching report builder.

Migrating from On-Premise Account Reconciliation Manager to Account Reconciliation Cloud
You can migrate from Oracle Hyperion Financial Close Management’s Account Reconciliation Manager module to Oracle Account Reconciliation Cloud. The Financial Close Management release must be at 11.1.2.4.250 or later to perform this migration.
Key Resources
See Migrating from On-Premises Financial Close Management to Oracle Account Reconciliation Cloud for detailed instructions.
New EPM Automate Utility Version
A new version of the EPM Automate Utility is available with this update. This version includes the upgrade command, which automatically downloads and silently installs the newest version of the EPM Automate Utility. After you run the login command to initiate a session, the utility identifies the current installed version. If the installed version is not the newest available, you can run this command to the utility prompts you to download and install the latest version.
Key Resources
See EPM Automate Utility Commands in “Working with EPM Automate for Oracle Enterprise Performance Management Cloud” for detailed information.
Jobs History Now Retained for Up to 60 Days
The history for system and user initiated jobs is now retained and displayed for up to 60 days.
Archive, Purge, and Restore of Reconciliations Available
Administrators can now help keep the size of the database in check and help performance by using archive, restore, and purge functionality in Reconciliation Compliance. This allows you to archive data and access the archived content as needed. Archiving is an extension of the existing Lifecycle Management (LCM) export and import functionality and a new artifact of reconciliations has been created in LCM for Account Reconciliation.
Archiving allows you to save reconciliations, transactions and related data from selected periods in Account Reconciliation Cloud in an archive file that can be stored locally. Purge allows you to permanently remove reconciliations, transactions, and related data from selected periods in Account Reconciliation Cloud after archiving if you wish. Restore allows you to restore the saved archive file to a different machine or the same machine.
Key Resources
See Archiving for detailed instructions.
Delete Transactions Now Available
If enabled by a service administrator, users can now delete incorrect or unwanted transactions in Transaction Matching. The deletion is performed on the Unmatched Transactions dialog.
Key Resources
See Deleting Transactions for detailed instructions.
Change in Transaction Matching Table Requires Custom Reports Revision
A change was made and the Transaction Match ID is now stored in the respective dynamic tables (TM_TRANS_*) in the MATCH_ID column and the TM_MATCH_TRANS table is deprecated from 18.02. This requires that custom reports on transactions using TM_MATCH_TRANS must be changed to use the transactions dynamic table (TM_TRANS_*). In a future update, this will not be needed. Sample queries can be created using the Transaction Matching report builder.
Enhanced User Experience in Reconciliation Compliance
As of early calendar year, 2018, the old method of accessing the Reconciliation List, Transactions List, and Profiles List will no longer be available. Enhancements to the Reconciliation Compliance user interface that were introduced several months ago provided a more intuitive and improved user experience, including Reconciliation, Transaction and Profile List Views, Manage Reports, and common use of a filter bar across multiple EPM Cloud services. These changes provide you with quick, easy navigation.
Check this list again for the latest information when the update is applied to your test environment.

Detailed Information Now Available in Transaction Matching Balancing Report
You can now drill down on each category in the Balancing panel to view details about the transactions that make up the category. Just click the link on Unmatched Transactions, Unmatched Supported Transactions, and Matched In-Transit Transactions to see each transaction in that category.
Relocate EPM Cloud Environments from One Identity Domain to Another
Oracle Cloud Account Administrators can now move an environment from its current identity domain to another. Unifying multiple EPM Cloud environments under one identity domain helps simplify user management and single sign on configuration. It also supports seamless cross-environment navigation.
Oracle Cloud Account Administrators may relocate an environment from its current identity domain to another if the target identity domain is provisioned to the same customer account and is in the same data center.
In addition to requesting the relocation of instances from My Services, additional service environment-specific tasks must be completed.
NOTE: You can relocate an environment only if it was provisioned after May 1, 2016. Environments that were provisioned prior to this date cannot be unified to use one identity domain.
See Relocating an EPM Cloud Environment to a Different Identity Domain in “Getting Started with Oracle Enterprise Performance Management Cloud for Administrators” for detailed information.
