Open source summer
Open source summer

July 2020
If you’re looking to hone your coding skills this summer, consider one of the open source projects from Oracle. Not forgetting the hugely important Java and MySQL (which welcome your participation), there are several newer projects to choose from. While the GitHub star of the bunch is GraalVM, the Helidon microservices framework (see below for the announcement of the 2.0 release) wants your contributions. Or maybe TruffleRuby or FastR (a version of the R programming language based on the Truffle framework out of Oracle Labs) is more your speed?

Speaking of Oracle Labs, Graeme Rocher, creator of Micronaut (also a Java Champion and Groundbreaker Award winner), has just joined Oracle Labs as an architect, working on Micronaut, Helidon, and on making cloud native apps faster and more fun!

What’s your favorite open source project? Write me.
