The validation process has three main areas of focus - security, functionality, and operations. The process will vary based on the complexity of your application, the number of issues identified in the process, and the responsiveness of technology partners. What are the ONC information blocking rules?

The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) delivered their highly anticipated final rule on provisions of the Cures Act that support the interoperability of electronic health information for patients, providers, and others. In addition to a focus on health information technology (HIT) certification and interoperability in healthcare, the rule promotes the end of information blocking—a practice in which the access, exchange, or use of electronic health information is restricted inappropriately.

Is Meaningful Use over?

In the Inpatient Prospective Payment System proposed rule for the 2019 federal fiscal year, CMS changed the name of the EHR Incentive Program/Meaningful Use to the Promoting Interoperability (PI) program, applicable to both Medicare and Medicaid. That name change is tied to a shift in the program, which is moving away from incentives for EHR use and refocusing on interoperability.
