7X simplifies IT and boosts performance with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure
The trade, transport, and logistics holding and investment group gains agility and reduces costs with Oracle Exadata Database Service.
“Migrating to OCI has been a transformative experience for 7X. The move has been a game changer as it is driving efficiency, boosting performance, and significantly reducing costs. We look forward to continuing our partnership with Oracle as we explore new opportunities for innovation and growth.”
Business challenges
Headquartered in Dubai, 7X manages a diverse portfolio of logistics and business services companies including Emirates Post, EMX, FINTX, and EDC. The organization wanted to exit its data center to improve operational efficiency, boost customer satisfaction, and deliver high-quality postal and logistics services in the UAE and beyond. 7X looked for a solution that would scale to demand fluctuations, reduce IT costs, and help IT staff spend less time on maintenance tasks.
Our strategic migration to OCI enabled 7X to exit our on-premises data center and optimize our infrastructure, resulting in enhanced operational efficiency and a 35% reduction in costs.
Why 7X chose Oracle
7X evaluated the benefits of migrating its Oracle E-Business Suite, complex customer applications, and technology infrastructure to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). Oracle’s “Bring Your Own License” program helped the company use its existing IT investments by applying its on-premises Oracle licenses to OCI. As a result, 7X selected OCI’s complete portfolio of cloud services to increase system security and performance, scale to fulfill demand, and easily integrate numerous applications and data sources.
Results
By moving its core applications and systems to OCI, 7X established a foundation for creativity and innovation, while also benefiting from new AI capabilities. With Oracle Exadata Database Service, 7X optimized database performance even as workload patterns changed, which helped critical applications run faster.
The prebuilt adapters and low-code customization of Oracle Integration Services made it easier for technical staff to connect custom and third-party applications and data sources to Oracle E-Business Suite applications on OCI. OCI Monitoring service facilitated rapid assessment of both out-of-the-box and custom performance metrics, helping 7X’s technical staff optimize system resources and deliver high availability of infrastructure and applications.
7X experienced significant cost savings after migrating to OCI. The group also used Oracle Support Rewards to reduce the cost of technical support. Overall, 7X lowered its IT total cost of ownership by 35% and accelerated its sustainability efforts. Currently, the company is running two AI proof-of-concept use cases to enrich 7X’s data platform through machine learning and help improve invoice handling by reducing manual intervention, minimizing errors, and improving operational efficiency.
