Dutch city to migrate critical business operations to the public cloud
ROTTERDAM, the Netherlands and AUSTIN, Texas—March 22, 2022Oracle today announced that the Municipality of Rotterdam, has chosen Oracle Fusion Cloud Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) to modernize critical business systems and accelerate its transition to the cloud. The implementation will be managed by Oracle PartnerNetwork (OPN) member Deloitte.
Rotterdam serves more than 670,000 citizens and over 50,000 businesses in its jurisdiction, with responsibility for major public services including education, social care, and transport. Supported by an ageing on-premises IT infrastructure that led to fragmented administrative processes and increased pressure on municipal staff, Rotterdam needed to re-evaluate how it manages its core business processes to better support its citizens. After evaluating several solutions, Rotterdam selected Oracle Cloud ERP for its modern and scalable technology and ability to meet rigorous security standards and regulations.
“Rotterdam aims to continuously develop and improve its citizen services; we are always looking to the future and how we can innovate. We believe a modern, integrated cloud platform that supports our business operations is a vital pillar of this mission, and this is where our collaboration with Oracle and Deloitte comes in,” said Magda Chedi-van Hall, Director of Finance, Procurement and Legal Affairs, Municipality of Rotterdam. “With Oracle and Deloitte, we have partners that understand how local government works and the unique challenges we face. We are proud to be the first major Dutch city to migrate its business operations to the public cloud at this scale.”
Oracle Cloud ERP will enable Rotterdam to enhance and automate its financial and procurement processes to streamline operations, improve management insights and decision-making, enhance controls and compliance, create cross-departmental synergies, and optimize the delivery of public services. Rotterdam’s finance teams will be able to leverage a modern and scalable Cloud ERP solution that meets the highest security standards and is aligned with regulatory requirements.
“Government organizations like Rotterdam are taking on expanded and more complex remits while having to be more resource-efficient and meet higher service expectations from their constituents,” said Monic van Aarle, VP Applications Benelux at Oracle. “With Oracle Cloud ERP, Rotterdam now has an integrated business platform that can help it meet both its current and future needs, and better service its staff and constituents.”
“Deloitte is very proud of the fact that we support the municipality of Rotterdam for more than a decade in their different, complex organizational transformation journeys. With the next step to Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP, Rotterdam seizes the opportunity to prepare the Financial & Procurement organization for the future, utilizing the Oracle platform, the best practice processes inputs of Deloitte and the municipality specific knowledge of the organization,” said Rob Dubbeldeman, Partner at Deloitte.
