Business challenges

Bionime’s vision is to provide diabetes patients with peace of mind through self-monitoring blood glucose systems that help them accurately manage and control their health.

The medical device manufacturer’s analytics service built on AWS RDS was not performing for the large amount of data needed to provide accurate and up-to-date glucose monitoring for patients. Bionime sought a faster data platform that would support its existing database technologies.

Oracle MySQL HeatWave consolidates both transaction processing and queries in one MySQL Database for real-time analytics.

Why Bionime chose Oracle

Bionime selected Oracle MySQL HeatWave on AWS for a fully managed database service that combines transaction processing with an in-memory query accelerator for a high-performance analytics engine. In addition, it eliminates the need for a separate analytics database and extract, transform, and load (ETL) processes. Greater scalability of more data with real-time analytics would help Bionime accelerate application development of its glucose monitoring systems with less administration.

MySQL HeatWave helps Bionime launch a new-generation product, Continuous Glucose Monitoring, with accurate, real-time reporting for better patient health.

Results

With MySQL HeatWave on AWS, Bionime has seen gains of 50X faster resolution of complex queries compared to AWS RDS. The high-performance data platform improves scalability, adding more data with less administration and generating real-time analytics to accelerate application development.

The modern data platform of MySQL HeatWave is helping Bionime to launch its next-generation product, Continuous Glucose Monitoring, with more accurate, real-time reporting to improve patient’s lives.
