Business challenges

Ananta Apparels, part of $300 million Bangladesh-based conglomerate Ananta Group, is the country’s leading garment exporter. Its seven factories in Bangladesh and one in Ethiopia manufacture more than a million garments per month for top global retailers and clothing brands, including Walmart, Gap, H&M, Carters, OshKosh, JCPenney, and Dickies.

With its global client base and distributed manufacturing, Ananta Apparels is particularly dependent on having a stable, reliable ERP system to view financial and other data in real time across its operations.

In response to mounting user complaints, including system slowness, the company replaced its legacy Infor M3 ERP application in 2017, moving to Oracle E-Business Suite, boosting performance and improving data visibility.

Ananta Apparels eventually decided it no longer wanted the expense, ongoing headaches, and risks of managing and updating its own data center. When the company added a factory in Ethiopia in 2019, Ananta Apparels’s IT team realized that the company needed a more flexible and scalable cloud-based solution.

Why Ananta Apparels Chose Oracle

After evaluating the infrastructure offerings of several cloud providers, Ananta Apparels’ IT team chose Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. Oracle’s sales team went the extra mile to understand Ananta Apparels’ requirements, offering an infrastructure solution to run the company’s plant and corporate applications that’s highly available, easy to manage, and cost-effective. The fact that Ananta Apparels already was a happy Oracle E-Business Suite customer made OCI the natural choice.

Results

Ananta Apparels estimates that its move to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure cut its infrastructure total cost of ownership in half while saving about 20 hours of staff time per week.

By moving its Oracle E-Business Suite instance to OCI, Ananta Apparels minimized the maintenance burden for its IT administrators. The total number of user complaints that team receives has dropped by 50%.

Ananta Apparels estimates that Oracle Cloud Infrastructure also reduced the financial overhead of managing a data center—in terms of hardware purchases, upgrades, and maintenance personnel—by 40% to 50%.

Partners

Ananta Apparels worked with PwC to help it replace its on-premises Infor M3 ERP application with Oracle E-Business Suite, and eventually moved the EBS application to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.
