“With Oracle Cloud HCM, we have consolidated HR data in a single system for the entire group, which gives us a clear view of our talent base anytime and anywhere. We can also collate all employees’ development and mobility wishes, which is an enormous asset, as we are a company committed to offering dynamic careers.”
Business challenges
Based in France, SOMFY Group is the world leader in automatic controls for openings and closures for homes and buildings. A key player in smart home systems, the group offers a wide range of motorized solutions and control panels to create better living environments that are accessible to everyone.
SOMFY was keen to rapidly expand its influence in the market, but in order to do that, the group needed to transform the way it managed its workforce of over 7,000 employees around the globe.
The group’s existing HR system was not widely adopted across its family of brands, and key functions such as performance management and talent development were frequently conducted using paper-based processes and spreadsheets, making them difficult to manage and monitor. Without a central location for accurate HR data, reporting was inconsistent, and users spent a lot of time gathering information.
SOMFY needed a global HR system that could consolidate data on thousands of employees located across nearly 60 countries, help to standardize processes, and offer more insight into the company’s talent base. The group also wanted to empower employees to take more control of their career progression while increasing their sense of well-being and belonging.
With Oracle Cloud HCM, we have interview completion rates of 94%, which I have never before seen in my career.
Why SOMFY chose Oracle
SOMFY sought a comprehensive, truly global HR platform that could automate a range of processes, streamline reporting, and scale to meet the diverse needs of users around the world. The group conducted a thorough selection process and shortlisted Oracle, SAP, and Foederis. Ultimately, SOMFY chose Oracle Fusion Cloud Human Capital Management (HCM) because of its enhanced functionality, integration capabilities, and continual product innovation.
SOMFY also saw value in the scalability of Oracle Cloud HCM, which would allow the group to centralize vast amounts of HR data and offer visibility across its diverse global workforce. Plus, the platform’s quarterly updates would provide new functionality to support the group’s evolving needs.
SOMFY increased interview completion rates by 34% and improved HR productivity by nearly 10% with Oracle Cloud HCM, saving hundreds of hours per year.
Results
SOMFY increased its HR efficiency and enhanced its decision-making, all while improving career development, mobilities, and engagement for its workforce of nearly 7,000 people across 58 countries. The implementation greatly contributed to the company’s global HR transformation project, supporting its rapid planned growth over the next few years.
The building controls manufacturer improved visibility by gaining detailed HR analytics across the organization. Instead of putting immense effort into consolidating information from disparate spreadsheets, HR teams now view employee distribution by job type, function, or location at the click of a button. With informed insights into the workforce, HR managers vastly improved workforce planning and more easily met diversity and inclusion goals. Also, managers now have direct access to HR information regarding employees’ skills, job performance, career histories, and aspirations. This helps them to better manage and develop their teams at both the tactical and strategic levels.
By standardizing and digitizing the biannual appraisal process with Oracle Cloud HCM, completion rates for both performance and development interviews grew from 70% to a high rate of 94%. Employees now take a more active role in the goal-setting and evaluation process. They can propose and modify objectives collaboratively with their managers, complete self-assessments, and review their agreed-upon goals any time from any location.
Supported by Oracle Cloud HCM, employees now have annual development reviews with their managers to discuss promotion and mobility prospects in detail. With helpful self-service capabilities, staff members input their own career path, skills, and development wishes, and have more control over their professional growth.
The employee development function became more effective with Oracle Talent Management, providing HR leaders with a consolidated view of workforce skills and employee well-being. Managers could create learning strategies or take targeted development actions as required. They also offer employees clearer, more engaging, and international career paths. In addition, users worldwide can engage with the platform in their preferred language.
Administration time substantially dropped using the automated processes within Oracle Journeys, part of the Oracle ME employee experience platform. With hundreds of upcoming hires, the HR team expects to save more than 1,000 hours of work in the next year.
