Business challenges

Al Mozaini Real Estate is one of Saudi Arabia's leading residential developers, with projects covering 28 million square meters completed or in progress. To support its growth, the company wanted to better manage costs, enforce governance, and automate daily processes. But even with its commitment to find better ways to build, Al Mozaini lacked an integrated platform to help execute projects.

Siloed systems, spreadsheets, and manual processes delayed approvals and introduced the potential for errors. Understanding its important role in the economic, social, and cultural diversification of the government’s landmark Saudi Vision 2030, the company sought world-class technology applications to manage the complexities of its large-scale construction projects and its growing portfolio, which was already valued in the billions of Saudi riyals.

An Al Mozaini internal study determined the need to modernize business operations, including finance, supply chain management, and human resources, and improve project management efficiency.

Why Al Mozaini chose Oracle

Al Mozaini’s residential construction portfolio is massive, multifaceted, and kingdom-wide, but labor-intensive processes presented logistical challenges. Improving project management and shortening delivery timelines were imperative, as was enhancing transparency and accountability across all departments.

As an existing customer of Oracle Primavera P6 Enterprise Project Portfolio Management, Al Mozaini was familiar with Oracle’s reliability, data security, and customer support. Meantime, the company’s internal study concluded that Oracle, as the only provider of an integrated platform of market-leading cloud enterprise resource planning (ERP), enterprise performance management (EPM), and construction and engineering applications, could help Al Mozaini unify all its key processes and data.

After completing several rounds of product demos, the company was also satisfied that the Oracle applications would help it meet the government’s strict reporting and compliance requirements. The company decided to implement a single, integrated Oracle solution that included not only Oracle Fusion Cloud Financials and Oracle Fusion Cloud EPM applications, but also Oracle Fusion Cloud Supply Chain Management (SCM) and Oracle Fusion Cloud Human Capital Management (HCM), in addition to its Oracle Primavera Unifier and Primavera P6 applications.

With the Oracle Cloud solutions, Al Mozaini is now able to process payment applications 50% faster and with 50% less effort.

Results

Since integrating Oracle Cloud ERP and Primavera Unifier to its existing Primavera P6 solution, Al Mozaini increased control, visibility, and accuracy across its portfolio of projects. The Primavera Unifier project and asset management application supported the organization’s implementation of 45 different business processes in areas such as cost management, change management, quality control, project communication, and safety management.

When a new project is created in the ERP system, the corresponding project is also created in Unifier, linked through a unique project identifier in each system. Deliverables are tracked in Unifier against due dates fed from the Primavera P6 schedule. The company measures project progress using earned value management, thanks to the integrated Primavera cost and schedule application, based on actual performance rather than plan.

With the integrated Oracle applications, the company gained a single source of information to track work progress in order to validate invoices and help ensure accurate payment for the value of the work completed. All projects were aligned in a specific enterprise-wide project structure. Project schedules in Primavera P6 were realigned with the project budget in Primavera Unifier.

With Oracle Fusion Cloud and Primavera Unifier applications, Al Mozaini gained the tools to improve efficiency, enhance data management, and foster better collaboration across its companies, departments, and partners. The shift changed how the company manages and delivers projects, helping it to scale more effectively.
