Business challenges

The Civil Nuclear Constabulary (CNC) is a specialized police force in the United Kingdom with more than 1,600 employees. The organization transitioned to Oracle Fusion Cloud Enterprise Performance Management (EPM), Oracle Fusion Cloud Human Capital Management (HCM), Oracle Fusion Cloud Financials, and Oracle Fusion Cloud Procurement and wanted to bring the management of those applications in-house. CNC needed to quickly educate its entire employee base on key business processes and implement cost-effective and scalable ways to equip future users while onboarding Oracle Fusion Cloud applications.

CNC historically used traditional methods of training, with a focus on face-to-face sessions. The organization also took full ownership of creating and communicating this training to its users. Solution owners previously spent many weeks away from home delivering two to three sessions a week across the country, because the organization’s workforce is spread throughout the United Kingdom.

Why CNC chose Oracle

Oracle Guided Learning immediately captured the attention of stakeholders at CNC for its ability to unify training and communications into user workflows, saving significant time and cost. The organization appreciated the flexibility of Oracle Guided Learning and quickly realized it wasn't just another repository of self-help content. Its navigational guides would allow users to initiate product and process tours while they were seeking help, while smart tips and contextual guidance could further assist users as they completed a process.

CNC could also tap Oracle University’s online training videos and materials for employee upskilling efforts. This made managing the creation of guides and architecting the learning experience easier.

Results

CNC considered the partnership, expertise, advice, and recommendations provided by Oracle University to be critical to its success and ability to quickly scale up its training efforts. It greatly reduced training costs associated with travel expenses, training delivery, and content creation, allowing for these savings to be directed to other areas.

CNC found that many stakeholders enjoyed using the guides and smart tips and often came to the team asking if they could build and deploy these in quick fashion, improving the relationship and value the training teams provided to the business. By documenting training progress, commitment, and completion, administrators created a scalable and repeatable program that can evolve with changing demands.

Using contextual guidance with beacons, smart tips, and messages, allowed CNC to save significant time in creating full-scale guided materials. With the help of Oracle University, CNC now maintains a repository of more than 200 guides for user reference needs. Oracle Guided Learning also helped unify training across the entire Oracle Cloud platform, as CNC now has one place for content and training processes when users are onboarded into new applications and modules.
