Business challenges

A provider of world-class broadcast and media solutions, Imagine Communications was in a C-suite reporting rut. Bogged down by manual data compilation and non-standardized, manually-compiled KPIs, executives didn’t have access to the information they needed to guide the business.

Whether looking at budgets versus actuals, top customers, or even top-performing products, Imagine Communications struggled with answers to even simple questions. Delays in synchronizing data across legacy BI systems left managers in constant doubt over the integrity and accuracy of the data. Executives were tired of the high cost of ownership involved in maintaining three reporting platforms across multiple vendors and wanted to move to one platform that could deliver the cross-functional analysis they needed for monthly business reviews.

With Fusion Analytics, we were able to deliver an immediate end-to-end solution across our finance and supply chain functions. Over a matter of a few months, we moved away from our large flat file extracts to a dashboard and KPI-driven design.

Why Imagine Communications chose Oracle

Imagine’s existing system was inefficient in managing data using spreadsheets and large flat file downloads. The company’s leaders faced two choices: continue with the legacy system or innovate with Fusion Analytics. Because maintaining the status quo did not fit with the executive goal of obtaining one automated, unified view of the business for monthly reviews, they chose Oracle Fusion ERP Analytics.

Fusion ERP Analytics gave Imagine ready-to-use content and managed data pipelines to jump-start business analysis and provide the leadership team with a full picture of the operation.

Ready-to-use KPIs and the ability to review the health of the entire business with a modern analytics solution were crucial for Imagine Communications.

Results

One of the first results realized was deploying the ready-to-use metrics for profitability and balance sheet analysis, crucial for the company’s executive meetings. Previously, this process had been extremely painful without any automation. The journey to Cloud Analytics allowed Imagine to quickly understand the health of the business and drill into key trends to improve profitability.

Likewise, after the first go-live of Fusion ERP Analytics, the rollout was immediately replicated for Oracle Fusion SCM Analytics. This new phase is expected to give executives the ability to identify demand trends and evaluate order fulfillment, allowing them to secure business commitments and better serve customers. 

Fusion Analytics enabled Imagine Communications to take the next steps to fully deprecate its on-premises legacy data warehouse and analytics system by leveraging Fusion Analytics’ extensibility framework. The company will be able to deliver more insights on core areas of the business, such as revenue intelligence, by marrying data from Salesforce, Jira, and Zuora, with its suite of Fusion Cloud applications. 

The final piece of the puzzle is the extensive change management efforts that Imagine plans to roll out across the organization. Tapping the support of Oracle’s customer success programs, Imagine will transition users across the organization from wasting time on flat files, spreadsheets, and manual reporting to leveraging a modern analytics solution for instant data insights.
