Business challenges

iTacit is improving how employees connect to information, tools, skills, and their broader organizations, wherever they are. The Canadian digital workplace leader provides critical communication, training, and workflow automation for more than 200,000 front-line employees across 600 workforces in North America.

iTacit’s complex service requires  complex technology. With capacity requirements increasing to meet the demands of a rapidly growing market, iTacit needed a system architecture that would allow it to efficiently scale, without compromising business continuity.

The company also needed to assure prospective customers—particularly large government accounts—that their technology could meet stringent security requirements.

The business sought to move from on-premises infrastructure to the cloud to reduce maintenance requirements, speed up database queries, and minimize unscheduled outages and interruptions.

Ease of transition, and value of what they had to offer made the move to Oracle Cloud an easy choice.

Why iTacit chose Oracle

Oracle enabled iTacit to meet the scalability and security required by its enterprise customer base. Beyond the role of a reliable technology partner, Oracle’s strong brand recognition within these organizations has enhanced iTacit’s credibility by association.

Already familiar with Oracle Database, iTacit leaders knew that moving to Oracle Standard Database Cloud Service on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) would provide a secure, flexible, scalable, and easy-to-manage platform.

In addition, OCI supports iTacit applications that require Microsoft SQL Server and Windows OS.

Results

Ocupa

Using Oracle Standard Database Cloud Service on OCI greatly simplified iTacit’s database systems. Tasks such as patching and upgrading, as well as adding more database storage plus access to secure, managed automatic backups, were made easy.

Oracle Autonomous Linux replaced CentOS 6, requiring less scheduled downtime by using Ksplice zero-downtime patching.

Oracle Cloud Storage provided easy migration from the company’s existing storage instances and enabled cross-region replication, keeping customer data safe from disaster.

iTacit also uses Oracle Cloud Guard to monitor its solution in real time and respond to suspected vulnerabilities or deviations from best practices.

With the move to OCI, the company spends less time on server maintenance and administration, allowing the team to dedicate more time to strategic planning and implementing future enhancements and products.
