Ithaca College preps for long-term success with Oracle Cloud
Oracle Fusion Cloud HCM and ERP help Ithaca College lift employee experiences, cut manual processes, and boost operational and financial efficiency.
“By instantly accessing analytics and useful reports, along with time saved from automating tasks, our teams can focus on strategic HR initiatives and well-informed decision-making.”
Business challenges
Ithaca College is a midsize, nationally ranked college located in the Finger Lakes region of upstate New York. The liberal arts institution offers more than 100 degree programs and serves about 5,000 students.
Like many higher-education institutions, it faced pressure to provide a modern digital experience to students, faculty, and staff, but the college’s existing on-premises platforms lacked modern capabilities. In human resources in particular, IT and HR leaders wanted better reporting capabilities, fewer manual processes, and improved integration among disparate systems. College IT leaders believed a cloud-based system would let them spend less time on upgrades and maintenance and more on work that helps the school maintain competitiveness, run more efficiently, and grow for long-term success.
I am confident that as we use the technology that we’ve acquired, and as employees and supervisors become more comfortable with capturing data about people’s skills as they evolve over time, that we will have a very strong tool to use to analyze our current skill set.
Why Ithaca College Chose Oracle
Ithaca College’s IT, finance, and HR personnel liked the fact that Oracle Fusion Cloud HCM and Oracle Cloud ERP offered powerful data reporting, analytics, and easy-to-use dashboards, along with strong security. Also in Oracle’s favor was a demonstrated, strong commitment to higher education. The Ithaca project team viewed Oracle as a trusted advisor, since the college has been an Oracle E-Business Suite, database, and middleware customer for 17 years.
Results
Using Oracle Cloud HCM and ERP, the college established a single, unified cloud platform to manage all its human capital management processes. With an integrated solution for payroll, workforce information, and employee management, the school improved employee experience, boosted staff productivity, reduced manual processes, and enhanced its reporting capabilities. Streamlined HR processes and improved workflow are helping reduce costs, while moving to the cloud is also improving business agility, allowing the college to better manage unexpected pandemic-related HR and finance adjustments. Ithaca College now benefits from increased operating efficiency and reduced total cost of ownership.
Automating and modernizing many of its HR and finance processes has also enabled the college to improve information accuracy and reduce payroll errors, while access to instant analytics and useful reporting features enable more strategic HR initiatives and well-informed decision-making.
