Oracle enables effective monitoring across silos and various types of applications and services

Youngone Outdoor troubleshoots problems in minutes rather than hours and improves business continuity with Oracle Management Cloud

Youngone Outdoor, an original equipment and apparel distributor in Korea, sells various brands of outdoor apparel, footwear, and travel gear products—such as North Face down jackets, Smartwool thermal wear, and Taki camping supplies—via its retail shop, online shopping site, department stores, and brand stores.

Youngone Outdoor uses various core systems, including enterprise resource planning, partner relationship management, warehouse management, and radio-frequency identification systems to support the supply chain workflow. However, the IT team often spent several hours identifying the root causes of system failures. To ensure business continuity, Youngone Outdoor wanted to implement an integrated monitoring solution to analyze log data and respond faster to performance problems for both on-premises and cloud environments.

Business challenges

The company needed to minimize disruption to critical supply chain operations for the apparel manufacturing business by gaining visibility into all different types of systems, such as Oracle Database and ERP applications, and deliver a stable IT environment.

In addition, Youngone Outdoor hoped to improve troubleshooting efficiency, such as diagnosing anomalies in the database or the partner relationship management system, by using a comprehensive management solution to rapidly find and resolve issues, rather than hiring a database expert.

The company also sought to support a multicloud strategy by establishing an IT governance standard for the entire infrastructure and enabling the IT team to easily analyze relevant log data from different sources, such as databases, web application servers, and cloud services.

Why Youngone Outdoor chose Oracle

Youngone Outdoor evaluated other local vendor solutions but determined that Oracle Management Cloud was the best fit, in terms of the integrated monitoring functionality and support that the business needed, according to CIO Yoon Jeong Choi.

Results

Youngone Outdoor’s internal IT team worked with the technology sales team from Oracle Digital to discuss the business needs over two months. It then selected Oracle Management Cloud and Oracle Management Cloud - Log Analytics Edition to build the entire IT governance strategy for the business.  It went live with the new platform in just three months.

“Thanks to Oracle Management Cloud, we can now monitor all the systems’ performance in a single place. It just completely changed the way how we detect failures and troubleshoot them,” Choi said.

By adopting a suite of next-generation system management services with Oracle Observability and Management Cloud Youngone Outdoor ensured consistent service levels for the manufacturing business, enabling effective monitoring across silos and various types of applications and services.

Also, the company could resolve performance issues in just minutes—instead of hours—by using the machine-learning capability of Oracle Management Cloud to rapidly identify anomalies in the log data and diagnose the root cause of the problem without a database expert. Youngone Outdoor also gained the ability to prevent outages before they occur and enhance the continuity of business operations, such as clothing production, by providing end-to-end visibility of the health and availability of database and web application servers via a single dashboard.

In addition, the company increased IT stability by using the mobile feature of Oracle Management Cloud to instantly notify staff members of infrastructure issues and shortening the time to troubleshoot problems after work hours.

Partners

Oracle Partner GT Plus assisted Youngone Outdoor in installing and configuring Oracle Management Cloud.  It also provided guidance to users in leveraging the functions for dashboard and log analytics.
