Product Description:

Oracle FMW MapViewer is a component of Oracle Fusion Middleware that provides geospatial data visualization and mapping services. It provides a client side HTML5 mapping API as well as various server side REST (Representational State Transfer) and XML API (Application Programming Interface) for displaying customer's geospatial data in customer's web applications.

This VPAT concerns with two primary aspects of MapViewer: the HTML5 JavaScript Mapping API, and the MapViewer Admin Console (a Web application shipped as part of MapViewer).

The MapViewer Admin Console is a graphical user interface by which administrators can use to manage a MapViewer instance, such as changing its configuration, creating data sources and previewing geospatial data stored in customer databases. The Admin console contains a login and logout page, as well as various component pages such as for listing available geospatial data as well as pre-defined MapViewer metadata. It can also be used to change the MapViewer configurations, such as changing its logging level, managing data sources, configuring various geospatial data services, monitoring the overall health of the MapViewer instance, as well as restarting the instance itself. End user is typically administrators.

The HTML5 JavaScript Mapping API is a set of JavaScript libraries that are used by application developers to visualize and interact with geospatial data in various customer developed web applications. Customer applications typically create one or more HTML DIV regions and let the HTML5 Mapping API take over those regions and display map contents in an interactive manner. For simple maps with few markers and area features, the API supports keyboard-based map interactions such as zooming, panning, and exploring map markers and features displayed on the map. For complex maps where there are potentially many hundreds or thousands of features displayed at once, users can still use a keyboard to zoom or pan the map around, but it's the application developer's responsibility to create an accessible data table or list along side the map to help with the exploration of individual features displayed on the map. Finally, the API also provides means to display texts or labels for each displayed marker or feature on a map.
