Omnis boosts software development efficiency on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure
Omnis Accelerates Software Development, Lowers Costs, and Expands Service Offering Using Powerful and Flexible Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.
Omnis develops and supplies business information systems, both standard and customized, to clients in a range of industries in the Polish and American markets. It is also a system integrator and a subcontractor for software development companies. Omnis’ strategy is to develop in the field of cloud and mobile solutions. To facilitate this, it was in need of a powerful and scalable cloud-based infrastructure for disaster recovery and software solutions, which could lower costs while accelerating development and deployment times.
Omnis selected Oracle Cloud over solutions from Amazon and Microsoft because of its superior reliability, performance, flexibility, and cost effectiveness.
“With Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, we are able to offer innovative, cloud-based backup solutions and applications 100% tailored to client needs. As a result, we reduced software development time and costs, increased data security and availability, and expanded our services.”
Business challenges
- Reduce the cost of developing various software solutions by eliminating redundant infrastructure resources and enabling more employee time to be dedicated to development
- Improve client satisfaction by enhancing the performance of Omnis’ applications and ensuring they are always available to a wide variety of users
- Increase the speed of application development by ensuring that programmers do not need to wait for infrastructure resources to become available
- Expand market offering by developing cloud software and backup solutions that clients can access remotely and do not require additional investment in servers or infrastructure
- Shorten time to production and time to market while increasing software quality and security
We selected the Oracle Cloud over solutions from Amazon and Microsoft because of its superior reliability, performance, flexibility, and accessibility. In addition, due to its licensing model, Oracle Cloud was far more cost effective for the needs of our diverse development projects.
Results
- Developed a proprietary client data backup solution using Oracle Database Backup Cloud, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Object Storage, Oracle Java Cloud, and Oracle MySQL Cloud to give client administrators full control of backup processes—for example, by making instant backup copies of Oracle Databases or tracking the status of local and cloud-stored backups, even from remote locations
- Reduced operational overhead costs considerably thanks to the flexible licensing model of Oracle Cloud—enabling Omnis to pay only for the 2 services required to run its key application, where previously it was paying large amounts for a single package containing more than 100 redundant functions
- Increased customer satisfaction by implementing a powerful infrastructure to ensure that clients no longer need to wait up to three seconds for an application response and by offering cloud applications that end users can access from their mobile devices
- Optimized development speed, cost efficiency, and flexibility by enabling Omnis to select and immediately activate various cloud services—meeting the needs of applications at varying stages of development
- Enabled faster time to production and expansion into new markets by using Oracle Cloud Infrastructure to build Omnis’ mobile business application—which enables clients to manage photo documentation projects in the field, such as insurance claims calculations, real estate evaluations, and industrial construction project assessments
- Enhanced client protection and data security by storing all data in Oracle Cloud—which is several security levels higher than Omnis’ clients could normally achieve and where backup data is also always available for instantaneous recovery
- Enabled Omnis to offer software and backup solutions at a lower price—without compromising on profit margin—by reducing software development, maintenance, and service costs
- Expanded market potential by enabling clients to adopt Omnis’ software applications and data backup solutions without needing to incur additional costs for in-house infrastructure expansion or external hosting
- Enabled rapid and inexpensive scalability of Omnis’ off-the-shelf and customized applications to meet client requirements by immediately adding IT components such as computing power, processors, memory, and disk space whenever needed
- Empowered Omnis to focus on application development without needing to worry about infrastructure maintenance and service tasks—freeing up human resources to assist with software testing to improve product quality and customer satisfaction
