Estate View section view, description below

On this page is a visual illustration of the database estate. The Estate View shows all of the found connections between databases in the Catalog. This is based upon the presence of Database links.

Databases are grouped together into clusters. A cluster may indicate that there are data-related dependencies between members of the cluster. When a database inter-connects between two clusters, it will take on the color of the largest cluster.

Understanding these relationships can be very important when deciding on migration strategy, priority and order. It is possible that highly interdependent databases should be moved together as a group rather than individually.

In addition, the specific databases in the visualization are named.

Prioritizing database migrations by least amount of preparation effort required speeds up migrations and reduces migration costs.

The automated expert analysis discovers all conditions that require resolution and assigns each database a preparation-effort score. Using this score, all databases in the estate are ranked according to the effort required to migrate them, from least to most preparation effort.

TCO view, description below

One of the important features of Estate Explorer is the total cost of ownership (TCO) analysis. This analysis compares on-premises costs with the potential costs of running the same workloads in Oracle Cloud on either Oracle Autonomous Database or Oracle Exadata Cloud Service.

Users can model the data in a variety ways. They can change both the assumptions the model makes and use the scaling features available in Oracle Autonomous Database and Oracle Exadata Cloud Service to customize the test scenarios.

In this illustration, the autoscaling feature is used to compare running on-premises workloads with running on Autonomous Database. In this example, the TCO for on-premises costs is $3.2M and running the same workloads (based on the up-to-date estate analysis provided by Estate Explorer) is $1.85M—42% less. The bar chart breaks these costs down for both source and target in these cost categories: infrastructure, operations, software, space, and power.
