Oracle Database Service for Microsoft Azure is an Oracle-managed service for Azure customers to easily provision, access, and operate enterprise-grade Oracle Database services in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) with a familiar Azure-like experience. Users can seamlessly build Azure applications with the high performance, high availability, and automated management of Oracle Database services, such as Autonomous Database, running on OCI.
Oracle is the only hyperscaler capable of delivering more than 150 AI and cloud services across public, dedicated, and hybrid cloud environments, anywhere in the world. Read the report to see why Oracle is named a Leader.

The service establishes low-latency connectivity between Microsoft Azure and OCI, deploys Oracle Database on OCI, and provides metrics on Azure. Customers can combine the entire Azure catalog of AI and application services with OCI’s most powerful database services. There are no charges for Oracle Interconnect for Microsoft Azure ports or data ingress/egress over the Interconnect. You will be billed normally for consumption of Oracle Database services, such as Autonomous Database.

“Having access to data in multiple clouds is something we’ve always wanted. Oracle Database Service for Azure would enable FedEx to use Oracle databases on OCI with big data and the analytics capabilities of Azure.”
—Rob Carter
Executive Vice President, FedEx
“Multicloud architectures enable us to choose the best cloud provider for each workload based on capabilities, performance, and price. The OCI and Azure partnership integrates the capabilities of two major cloud providers, including OCI’s Oracle Database services and Azure's application development capabilities. ”
—Naveen Manga
CTO, Marriott International
“Innovation is core to GE, and multicloud deployments enable us to innovate at scale. With Oracle Database services, we will be able to use highly available Oracle databases across cloud providers without refactoring our applications.”
—Angelica Tritzo
CIO, GE Renewable Energy
“Many of our mission critical workloads are running Oracle databases on-premises at massive scale. As we move these workloads to the cloud, Oracle Database Service for Azure enables us to modernize these Oracle databases to services such as Autonomous Database in OCI while leveraging Microsoft Azure for the application tier.”
—Jeremy Legg
CTO, AT&T
“Oracle Database Service for Azure helps us find the right balance between cloud innovation and stable operations. This new service will simplify our multicloud implementation without disrupting availability of our mission-critical workloads, helping us to deliver a better, safer railway for our passengers.”
—Simon Goodman
CIO, Network Rail
“Oracle Database Service for Azure simplifies our multicloud approach. We're going to be able to leverage the best of Oracle databases in Azure, and we are going to be able to keep our infrastructure in Azure. This is a great opportunity to have the best of the two worlds that eases our migration to cloud and improves the skills of our people in IT.”

CIO, SGS
The Oracle Database Service for Azure portal provides a streamlined experience for establishing low latency OCI-Azure connectivity, virtual networks, and federated identity management. Database queries and query results are made possible through the Interconnect. Database logs and metrics from OCI are integrated into Azure to simplify monitoring and management.
For scenarios where latency is an extremely high concern, consolidate applications and Oracle Databases under one cloud, without requiring an interconnect between clouds. This architecture eliminates the complexity and cost of moving large amounts of data around. Applications running on Azure now have the fastest possible access to Oracle Database performance, scale, and availability.
When applications are sensitive to database access latency or require high throughput from the databases, migrating the application tier to Microsoft Azure while leaving Oracle databases on-premises isn’t a viable option. Oracle Database Service for Azure delivers low-latency database access and high database-to-application throughput for on-premises workloads migrated to multicloud environments built on Azure and OCI. In such a multicloud architecture, Azure applications can take advantage of high availability features and performance optimizations that are only available on OCI. The service’s private tunnel, enabled by Oracle Interconnect for Azure, delivers a private, low-latency connection between the two cloud environments.
Azure customers can move from self-managed Oracle Database products to fully managed services that are rightsized for their workloads, meet availability requirements, and include built-in backups. Though Oracle Database Standard Edition and Oracle Database Enterprise Edition can run on Azure, OCI is the only public cloud that provides Oracle Maximum Availability Architecture (MAA). Technologies that OCI enables through MAA include Oracle Exadata Database Service and Oracle Real Application Clusters. Oracle Autonomous Database, a service unique to OCI, is a fully automated database service that makes it easy to develop and deploy applications.
With Oracle Database Service for Azure, your database resources reside in an OCI account that’s linked to your Azure account through an Oracle-managed, private cross-cloud Interconnect. You need a current Azure account to use Oracle Database Service for Azure.
Today at Microsoft Inspire, Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft, and Larry Ellison, chairman and CTO of Oracle Corporation, announced the availability of Oracle Database Service for Microsoft Azure.
