Build an AI-Powered PeopleSoft Chat Assistant with OCI

Introduction

PeopleSoft’s chat assistant, known as PeopleSoft Intelligent Chat Assistant for Oracle, or PICASO, uses Oracle Digital Assistant as its platform. It draws on predefined libraries of interactions associated with business functions, referred to as “skills.” PICASO lets users interact with skills through a single interface. Custom skills can be created and combined with AI to extend PICASO’s capabilities.

PICASO is enhanced with a GenAI skill using Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Generative AI Agents with retrieval-augmented generation capabilities. With this solution, PDF documents, which aren’t native to the PeopleSoft application, are accessed and searched using natural language commands.

This solution extends the scope of PICASO, letting it access enterprise data repositories and provide contextually aware responses.
