“Volunteering is intrinsically rewarding. It gives great joy to be able to share a soft skill when you have personally benefited from it immensely. Volunteering at Oracle is a great enabler when it presents us with opportunities to connect with others on a heart-to-heart basis. Truly, volunteering brings about an experience which can never be seen, heard, or comprehended, it can only be felt right within.”

Parthasarathi Patel, Principal Member Technical Staff, Oracle India

Oracle Volunteers served the children at the Early Childhood Care and Education centers run by Sampark, by becoming chefs and preparing delicious sandwiches with joy, love and care.

Volunteers were delighted to serve these sandwiches to children who loved the generous spread of butter and fruity flavoured jams, the cheesy spread with vegetable bites.

Education

  • Building an aspirational young India

Oracle Volunteers and Teach for India, fellows helped students make creative and colorful vision boards with visual representation of child’s hopes and dreams.

These sessions encouraged students to set short-term and long-term goals, have a personal and academic growth agenda and a plan of action for developing new skills.

  • Building a pipeline of tech talent

In collaboration with ICT Academy Oracle Volunteers conducted a series of training sessions to provide a hands-on experience of working on Oracle APEX, a low code platform.

This enhances the software development skills among girls and encourages them to leverage APEX for their future projects. One of our focus areas is to encourage and empower girls in STEM subjects, as the world needs more women in STEM leadership.

  • Shaping an inclusive techade for India

Oracle volunteers trained schoolgirls to code, keeping with a prominent reform announced by the National Education Policy 2020 of initiating students to coding from class six.

The sessions were creative and a big part of the Outdoor School Program for Girls by Going to School that breaks gender stereotypes. Girls designed their first game in these sessions using scratch and are constantly building on digital skills.

Environment

  • Energy efficient and Environment friendly

Oracle volunteers championed the green energy cause and patronized the use of solar lights.

Popular among volunteers the activity involved many of us in pursuance of sustainability goals.

  • Purging the Planet of Plastics

Teaming up with U & I trust Oracle volunteers purged the area around Jakkur lake of plastics.

Oracle volunteers planted as many trees as possible in favour of urban greening.

With the expertise of Communitree Oracle volunteers planted over 4000 trees, whom they call “trees of hope” and “trees of happiness.”
