SPARC T8-4 Server Power Calculator

Oracle’s SPARC T8 and M8 servers are the most advanced systems for enterprise computing, with unique capabilities that provide up to 2x faster performance for databases and Java applications compared with competitors’ systems as well as end-to end security features for maximum protection. Using breakthrough second-generation Software in Silicon technology and coengineering of Oracle hardware and software, Oracle’s family of SPARC servers is ideal for Java software, databases, and enterprise applications, and the servers’ rich feature set provides the foundation for building the best and most secure mission-critical cloud infrastructure.

The SPARC T8-4 server offers four processors, a maximum of 4TB of memory, eight 2.5” hot-swappable HDD/SSD drives with NVMe support and sixteen PCIe 3.0 slots.

The intent of the power calculator is to provide guidance for estimating the electrical and heat loads for typical operating conditions. It should not be used to calculate power or HVAC requirements. Instead, please use the appropriate installation guide to allow for proper allowances.

Notices and Disclaimers

You MUST allow electrical and cooling headroom for unforeseen circumstances, component upgrades, and increased computational loads. Please allow for worst-case power conditions. Actual power consumption will vary from the sample workload used in the power calculator. These include, but are not limited to, the factors below. Each of these factors may cause significant differences in power consumption:

  • Actual workload and its fluctuations
  • Ambient temperature
  • Cooling patterns
  • Excessive inlet temperature
  • Humidity
  • Operating systems features
  • Power management settings

The "Max Operating Power (35°C)" results shown represent the power consumption measurements with CPUs at 100% utilization and with DE3 Disk Trays at 35C° ambient temperature. The "Typical Power" results represent power consumption measurements taken when system booted and stabilized, yet running at minimal utilization. Sample results shown are representative of measurements taken with room temperatures below 25°C. System power can vary depending upon hardware/software configurations and environmental conditions. For precise results, actual measurements based upon the exact hardware/software/environmental conditions are recommended.
