Product tour—Global Order Promising

Replace "that's on backorder" with "yes, we have it"

Oracle’s order promising solution schedules shipment and delivery based on actual supply across all potential sources, accounting for local and upstream inventory, production capacity, and component and material purchases from suppliers. You can accurately promise drop shipments, make-to-order production, and multitier distribution to meet demand, reducing backorders.

Apply real-world lead time constraints

To get the most accurate promise, you can apply lead times at every step. These include processing and post-processing times for manufacturing and transit time for inventory transfers and inbound, outbound, and drop shipments, as well as pick-pack time for warehouse operations. Flexible cut-off times help you manage same-day shipments, while calendars account for non-working days and logistics schedules.

Check availability in real time during order capture

As you enter items on an order, order promising provides a real-time summary of supply availability, along with any expected delays. You can revise items or quantities if needed before submitting the order to help ensure on-time delivery.

Leverage profitable-to-promise to reduce costs

If you have multiple stores, warehouses, factories, or suppliers that can deliver an item on time, profitable-to-promise can select the option with the lowest fulfillment cost. Alternatively, for “buy online/pick up in store” scenarios, automated rules will pick the closest location. You can review the default selections and choose alternative sources, transit modes, item substitutes, or split fulfillment options to meet specific needs.

Use back-to-back supply to expand product offerings

Oracle’s order promising can automatically generate a purchase requisition to fulfill an order for items you don’t normally stock from a supplier, or to initiate a transfer from an upstream location. The supply order and sales order lines are connected back to back, so you can track fulfillment status every step of the way.

Flexibly allocate supply for high-demand items

When demand exceeds supply for your products, you can restrict availability to preferred customers, sales channels or regions. You can choose up to three levels of allocation to control access. Precedence rules let you redeploy unused allocations to higher-priority customers or channels when needed.

Tailor promising options to reduce delays

In case of disruptions, you can select and update groups of order lines to expand availability. For example, you can override shipping locations, split fulfillment across sources or time, or access an unused supply allocation. You can also choose alternate transit modes and drop ship suppliers to expedite delivery.

See the before-and-after impact of rescheduling

When you reschedule order lines, Oracle’s order promising compares the on-time fulfillment performance of your new order priority and option selections with the previous ones. You can make further changes and reschedule as needed until you’re satisfied with the results.

Simplify capable-to-promise calculations

Manufacturers can schedule customer orders far in advance, often before production or supply procurement. Oracle’s solution assesses the lead times for components and materials, resource availability, and supplier capacity to determine a feasible delivery date. A bill of resources focuses capable-to-promise calculations and user views on the subset of components and resources driving the date.

Schedule complex configure-to-order items

When you schedule items that are assembled or picked to order based on a product model with multiple configuration options, global order promising considers the availability or lead time for each option the customer selects, as well as the lead time for its mandatory components.

Simulate sales order demands to explore "what if" scenarios

To prepare for a large potential order or respond to a sales inquiry, you can create simulated demands. You can then review projected availability dates and understand the impact on supply for other orders—without affecting order execution.

Synchronize promising, planning, and execution end to end

Oracle's order promising works in concert with Oracle Fusion Cloud Supply Planning to plan and execute fulfillment. Backlog management automates rescheduling, while supply planning optimizes the material requirements and resource delivery needed to meet promise dates. All applications synchronize their actions, giving you reliable and consistent insights about order status, bottlenecks, shortages, and expected availability dates.
