With the successful go-live of the Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center (Lovell FHCC) in Chicago, Oracle’s modern electronic health records (EHR) are now operational at all Department of Defense (DoD) garrison facilities around the globe. Today, the Federal EHR system, known as MHS GENESIS, supports 3,890 locations with over 197,200 end-users serving more than 9.5 million beneficiaries spanning the United States, Europe, and the Asia Pacific region. Executed in collaboration with the Leidos Partnership for Defense Health, this roll-out marks the world’s largest EHR system implementation. The Lovell FHCC site also represents the first joint DoD and Veterans Affairs site to go-live at the same time.

“Oracle is a global leader in EHR systems, supporting organizations ranging from rural hospitals to the complex and diverse operating environments of our government agencies,” said Seema Verma, executive vice president and general manager, Oracle Health and Life Sciences. “This project demonstrates the power and potential of public and private enterprises working in concert to reach a common goal that benefits millions of people. We thank the DoD for its continued trust, and we look forward to working closely with them to continue to help improve healthcare access and outcomes for our service members for years to come.”

The EHR system is empowering DoD facilities to enhance care team coordination and patient experiences by delivering a single, longitudinal health record for each patient, no matter their location. With these modern tools and better access to data, clinicians can make more informed decisions that can help improve outcomes.

The Department of Homeland Security’s U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) and the Department of Commerce’s National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) have also deployed the Federal EHR, with other federal agencies planned to follow later in 2024.
