What’s the next step for Oracle Business Intelligence Applications (OBIA) customers? Here’s a guide to help you on your journey to gain deeper insights with Oracle Analytics Cloud and/or Oracle Analytics Server.
Why travel with Oracle Analytics?
The new Oracle Analytics products will give your business users access to:
- Self-service data discovery and visualization
- Analytics augmented with the power of machine learning
This modernization can be achieved by leveraging the investment you have already made in your OBIA implementation.
As an OBIA customer, you will be licensed for an underlying technology called Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition (OBIEE).
Choose your destination
If your applications (SaaS) and their data are gravitating to the cloud, so should your analytics.
Oracle Analytics Cloud brings the advantage of a managed service where Oracle manages the upgrades and the infrastructure.
Of course, you can take advantage of both on premises and cloud by running a hybrid solution and gradually move to a completely cloud-based solution. For example, you could initially leave your data on premises and have your analytics in the cloud on Oracle Analytics Cloud.
But if your data resides on premises and you wish to continue to run your analytics platform on a cloud infrastructure (IaaS), then consider Oracle Analytics Server.
Pack your bags
If you move to Oracle Analytics Cloud, you can use Oracle’s utilities to “lift and shift” your OBIEE development work into Oracle Analytics Cloud.
Keep in mind that you also need to consider how to deploy other elements such as ETL and the data mart.
Alternatively, as an on-premises OBIEE customer, you can still take advantage of Oracle Analytics Server by moving to the latest version.
Compare your costs
By moving to Oracle Analytics Cloud, you can Bring Your Own License to offset much of the cost.
As an OBIEE customer, there is no additional cost when you move to Oracle Analytics Server.
