Sensa Analytics speeds healthcare data insights with Oracle Cloud

By using an integrated set of Oracle Autonomous Database cloud services, Sensa Analytics was able to quickly build an application that gathers data for COVID-19 patients. Developers built the app using Oracle Application Express in just one month. In contrast, creating it using Python would have required four or five months.

Oracle Autonomous Database is the world's best database with a broad set of advanced functionalities and ties into easy-to-use tools, which includes APEX for free, that accelerate our time to market, with zero database administration.

Business challenges

The healthcare revenue cycle is complex, with many layers and points of failure. Sensa Analytics gathers data from multiple sources to provide real-time visibility into the revenue process, from forecasts, claims, and reimbursements to patient satisfaction. The company needed a cloud platform that’s powerful, but also let Sensa Analytics developers create new applications easily to meet customer needs.

APEX is so easy to use, and you can quickly create new applications. You don’t have to be technical and don’t have to sling code. In a matter of a couple of weeks, you can get up to speed using tutorials.

Why Sensa Analytics Chose Oracle

Sensa Analytics chose Oracle Autonomous Data Warehouse to run its applications because it offered faster time to market, greater performance, and less administration and costs than other cloud platforms. One reason is that Oracle Application Express (APEX) and Oracle Analytics are integrated into the autonomous database, so teams can quickly build applications and provide dashboards and reports.

Results

By using an integrated set of Oracle Autonomous Database cloud services, Sensa Analytics was able to quickly build an application that gathers all the data needed for tracking patients being tested for COVID-19 after they drive up to a hospital. Developers built the app using the low-code development tool Oracle APEX on Oracle Autonomous Data Warehouse, creating it in one month compared to the four or five months that using Python would have required.

Beyond the new COVID-19 app, the HIPAA-compliant Oracle Autonomous Database integrates data from various billing codes from electronic medical records and financial accounting systems, without requiring the expertise of database administrators. Patient signatures, driver license copies, and insurance cards are securely stored in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.

Oracle Analytics Cloud provides data visualizations from multiple sources directly in APEX applications, letting the people running physician practices see insurance rates alongside surgery costs, so they understand how much they will earn for a given procedure.

Ultimately, Sensa Analytics can onboard physicians to hospitals and surgery centers faster using APEX running on Oracle Cloud. This lets institutions and medical providers focus less on administration and more on patient care.
