Richard Smith is executive vice president of technology for Oracle’s Europe, Middle East, and Africa region. His team supports and partners with customers of all sizes in the private and public sectors. Richard’s strategy is to engage customers so they think differently about technology: how it’s used and how they can leverage data to gain invaluable insights.

Richard is passionate about our customers’ success, ensuring they get the maximum value from their IT investments. Moving enterprises to the cloud, making their technology autonomous and automated, introducing advanced AI, and increasing security, his team is empowering business leaders to do more with their critical data assets.

Cormac Watters

Executive Vice President and General Manager, EMEA Applications, Oracle

Cormac Watters is executive vice president of applications for Oracle in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), responsible for cloud strategy and growth of the applications business across the region. Cormac believes having supportive and collaborative teams is central to a business’s success—and that the power of cloud technology can transform everything around us. He also believes that earning customers’ trust is key to helping them achieve and exceed their goals while unlocking value with technologies such as analytics, AI, and machine learning. Cormac strives to lead by example with energy, passion, and professionalism, and he believes that sharing knowledge—whether as a leader, teacher, or speaker—helps him keep growing each day.

Hillel Cooperman

Senior Vice President, User Experience Design, Oracle

Hillel Cooperman is senior vice president of user experience design at Oracle, where he is transforming Oracle’s user experiences for customers. Cooperman is focused on bringing state-of-the-art, consumer-grade user experiences across devices to enterprise software scenarios. His goal is to raise the bar on every interaction customers have with Oracle software and with Oracle itself.

Most recently Cooperman served as design director of Microsoft’s Azure Data and Machine Learning Platform. Prior to that he was cofounder of Jackson Fish Market, a design and digital transformation agency that he built with longtime colleague Jenny Lam. Previously, Cooperman worked for Microsoft from 1997 to 2006. His most recent role during that stint was as product unit manager of the Windows User Experience team delivering the Windows AERO desktop user experience. Cooperman has also been a speaker at numerous design and industry events including San Francisco Design Week, the Seattle Interactive Conference, DesignThinkers, CreativeMornings, Microsoft’s Professional Developers Conference, O’Reilly Tools of Change, Microsoft Ignite, and TED.

Cooperman has a BA in history from Brandeis University, and his interests are diverse. He is the coauthor of a series of design books called Making Things Special and a series of novels called The Madrona Heroes Register. Cooperman has served on the board and as a technical advisor for BlackPast.org—the largest resource of African-American history on the internet. He was also the first food blogger to ever be nominated for a James Beard award.

Shasank Chavan

Vice President, Data, In-Memory and AI Technologies, Oracle

Shasank Chavan leads an organisation of brilliant engineers working on the nexus between AI systems and modern databases. His team is currently hyper-focused on developing the next-generation, AI-centric data storage engine, designed for in-memory OLTP, Analytics and Vector Search capabilities to power the AI and Generative AI revolution to come. Shasank earned his BS/MS in Computer Science at the University of California, San Diego. He has accumulated 40+ patents over a span of 25 years working on systems software technology.

Scott Twaddle

Senior Vice President, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Product and Industries

Scott Twaddle is Senior Vice President of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Product and Industries. He is responsible for OCI’s distributed cloud strategy including OCI’s Dedicated Region Cloud at Customer and Alloy offerings. He also leads the development of OCI’s sovereign and government cloud strategy and regions. His team leads global public cloud region expansion as Oracle brings cloud to new countries and markets. His job is to ensure OCI is building the right regions, products, features, and operational practices to enable customers to move their most mission-critical workloads to OCI. He is also Oracle’s Chief Sustainability Officer.

Twaddle joined Oracle in 2016 as one of the early team members tasked with building OCI. He has assumed many roles managing the growth of the business as it scaled to thousands of engineers and a leading cloud platform. His past OCI roles include Product Development Chief of Staff, VP of Business Operations, and VP of Regulated Markets.

Prior to joining Oracle, Twaddle spent his career in the cloud industry. He joined Amazon Web Services security early on and was responsible for a variety of teams as Amazon entered and grew its cloud offerings to regulated markets. Before AWS, Twaddle worked for Deloitte in Enterprise Risk Services with a focus on technology and cloud, including extensive work with Microsoft cloud products. Twaddle holds a Master of Professional Accounting as well as a BA from the University of Washington. He is based in Seattle, WA, USA.
