Changed passwords may be visible in the audit log on the server's file system.

Passwords may be exposed.
A problem was identified that could potentially cause a security vulnerability in certain versions of WebLogic Server. An upgrade is available to correct this problem (see Section II). Oracle treats potential security problems with a high degree of urgency and endeavors to take appropriate steps to help ensure the security of our customers' systems. As a result, Oracle strongly suggests the following actions:

I. Advisory
All sites that have enabled configuration auditing are vulnerable.
If configuration auditing is enabled, changing a password triggers a configuration audit event which contains the old and new passwords in clear-text. The configuration audit event is written by the WebLogic Auditing provider to the DefaultAuditRecorder.log file on the server's file system in clear-text and may be written by other audit providers in clear-text to their audit store.
This patch resolves the issue by ensuring that passwords are not put into the configuration audit event.
The following versions of WebLogic Server and WebLogic Express are affected by this vulnerability
- WebLogic Server 8.1 released through Service Pack 4, on all platforms

Oracle strongly recommends the following course of actions.
WebLogic Server and WebLogic Express version 8.1
- Upgrade to service pack 5.
