Oracle Tuxedo Plug-in for Oracle Solaris Studio 12.3

The Oracle Tuxedo Plug-in for Oracle Solaris Studio 12.3 adds Oracle Tuxedo development support to the Oracle Solaris Studio 12.3 IDE.

Oracle Tuxedo is the only open, robust platform to help you develop, deploy, and run mission-critical, C/C++/COBOL applications on a traditional data center infrastructure, an engineered system such as Oracle Exalogic, and your enterprise cloud.

This plug-in enables you to use the Oracle Solaris Studio IDE with Oracle Tuxedo to simplify the development of C and C++ applications for Oracle Tuxedo 12c on Solaris and Linux. Primary features include:

  • Support for developing Tuxedo applications using ATMI and SCA programming models
  • Creation of Tuxedo application projects including server, component, and client sub-projects
  • Automatic generation and maintenance of application metadata files
  • Debugging of servers and services
  • Increased developer productivity through intelligent language aware code editor, code completion, code folding, syntax highlighting and much more

Installation Alternatives: This plug-in is available in three installation formats.

Package Format

Oracle Solaris 10 SVR4 or Linux RPM packages

This option is supported by product patches, accessible via the Oracle Development Tools Support Offering.

  1. Prior to installation of the plug-in, you must install the "Package Installer" distribution of Oracle Solaris Studio 12.3 for Solaris 10 or for Linux into the default installation directory /opt.
  2. Download the file for your platform:

  • 3. Install the plug-in package and IDE patch included in the download, following the instructions in the included README file or the instructions in the Users Guide. The included IDE patch is required for using the plug-in.
  • IPS Package Format

    Oracle Solaris 11 IPS packages

    This option is supported by Oracle Solaris Studio IPS package update (equivalent of product patches), accessible via the Oracle Development Tools Support Offering. The Oracle Tuxedo plug-in package and the IDE patch are automatically included in the Oracle Solaris 12.3 IPS installation.

    1. Visit Oracle Certificate Requests to create an Oracle Solaris Studio certificate, required for IPS installation.
    2. Per instructions at that site, download and install certificate and key on your system.
    3. Per instructions at that site, add the solarisstudio publisher and install Oracle Solaris Studio 12.3, which will include the Tuxedo plug-in and the IDE patch.

    Tarfile Format

    This option provides the plug-in and the required Studio IDE patch as a tarfile (no packages). Elevated OS permissions (e.g. root) are not needed.

    Oracle support is not available for this configuration nor can the software be updated with patches.

    1. Prior to installation of the plug-in, you must install the "tarfile" distribution of Oracle Solaris Studio 12.3 for Oracle Solaris 11, Oracle Solaris 10 or for Linux.

    4. Unpack the plug-in tarfile, following the instructions in the included README file or the instructions in the Users Guide. The necessary IDE patch is incorporated into the tarfile.
