Johor Port optimizes cargo flow with Oracle Cloud
“With Oracle Autonomous Data Warehouse, our data update has been increased from hourly to every 10 minutes.”
業務挑戰
As Malaysia’s southern gateway for goods from around the world, Johor Port is built to send and receive a wide variety of cargo, from standard shipping containers to bulk goods to individual items.
The bustling port’s ceaseless marine traffic generates more than 50GB of data per day from multiple sources, from IT systems to sensors. The growing volume left its previous, spreadsheet-based system inadequate for delivering the data intelligence needed to run a smooth and cost-effective operation.
Without real-time information, we couldn’t see the current productivity levels, and checking manually took time and tended to be inconsistent. Oracle Autonomous Data Warehouse has paved the way for operational empowerment and more growth opportunities.
Why Johor Port Chose Oracle
成果
With Oracle Autonomous Data Warehouse running on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, Johor Port has been able to automate the loading of 50 GB per day of data from multiple and diverse sources, such as gate sensors and visitor entry systems, to give its Terminal Operations team a full set of data visualizations that are updated every 10 minutes. This offers a huge improvement over previous reports, which took hours to build and delivered an inferior set of insights.
The Oracle Cloud solution has reduced IT costs by lowering database maintenance work and minimizing the use of several older computing systems.
Oracle’s system has led Johor Port to close operational gaps made clear by the new data visualizations, and allowed the company to better plan long-term—for example, by using insights into seasonal variations in goods and shipping resources.
The upgrade to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure has given Johor’s Terminal Operations team a much clearer understanding of the value that lies in their data—and has inspired them to create new dashboards and reports to help further improve operations, expand the business, and reduce waste.
