This tutorial covers how to combine similar hierarchies into a single hierarchy.

With a blender, you can combine similar hierarchies into a single hierarchy. For example, you blend a TotalGeography1 hierarchy in a version used for operational purposes into a TotalGeography2 hierarchy in another version used for budgeting purposes. Both hierarchies have similar nodes, but the TotalGeography2 hierarchy is more detailed in structure than the TotalGeography1 hierarchy.
For this type of blender, you configure the following blender wizard tabs in this manner:

Before starting this tutorial, you should have access to or have installed Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management 11.1.2.1.0 and Oracle Hyperion Data Relationship Management, Fusion Edition 11.1.2.1.0.
In this topic, you review the hierarchies that you are going to blend, the TotalGeography hierarchy in the 2010 04 - Production version and the TotalGeography hierarchy in the 2010 05 - Production version. The hierarchies are opened for you.

Begin in the Browse task group. Use the Browse task group to manage versions and hierarchies.

Click the TotalGeography - 2010 04 - Production tab. Under the top node, this hierarchy has four limb nodes: E00, E01, E02, and E05.

Click Blend from the drop-down menu to navigate to the Blend task group. Use the Blend task group to create, copy, and delete blenders.

Click the New Blender button. Use the blender wizard to configure the source, style, filters, properties, and target for your blender. You begin on the Source tab.

Use the Source tab to select the source and target versions for the blender. You can blend all hierarchies from both versions or selected hierarchies from the source version. In this example, you blend all hierarchies from both versions. Perform the following actions on the Source tab:

Click the New button to add a hierarchy/top node set. Use the Add Blender Hier-Set dialog box to map a hierarchy/top node in the source to a hierarchy/top node in the target.

Click the E04_605 node to view its Node Changed property value that you configured in the blender. The E05 node was promoted from a leaf node to a limb node in order to add the descendants from the source hierarchy (TotalGeography hierarchy in the 2010 04 - Production version).

Click the Properties button. Use the Properties tab to view and manage properties for nodes, hierarchies, and versions.

Select Blender Status from the Category drop-down list. The Node Changed property for the E04_605 node is set to True because the global node's properties were changed by the blend.
