This tutorial covers how to view, print, and extract automated consolidation journals.

Automated consolidation journals are automatically created during consolidation, and they facilitate reporting on the consolidation process. They record the consolidation details for the Value dimension's Proportion and Elimination members.They provide a user-friendly way to report on the amount in the child entity that is rolled up into the parent entity during consolidation. You can extract the journals to external files, and print them through journal reports. You cannot edit, scan, submit, approve, reject, post, unpost, or delete them
Before starting this tutorial, you should:

Have access to a Financial Management application. (The Reports application is used in this tutorial.) |

Before creating automated consolidation journals, you must enable the Consolidation Rules attribute for the application.

Select Navigate > Administer > Dimension Library. Dimension Library is displayed.

Perform the following actions: a) Select the application, and in the Consolidation Rules drop-down list select Y. b) Save the settings and redeploy the application.

Next, you must provide a value in the Nature parameter of the HS.Con function. The value can be any text string. The text in the parameter enables users to view the consolidation details in the automated consolidation journals.

In the Nature parameter of the HS.Con function, enter a text function. Note: For this tutorial, text function "EQUITY" is entered in the Nature parameter.

After running the consolidation process, you can view the automated consolidation journals that were generated by the process.

The Process Journals page is displayed.

Perform the following actions: a) Select the Scenario, Year, and Period POVs for the consolidation data that you want to view. b) For the Value member select [Elimination] or [Proportion]. c) Select a journal, and click Open. For this tutorial, the Value member is changed to [Proportion] and the second journal (California_Plant1) is selected. Note the following:

Review the journal. The journal displays parent, entity (child), and the account.

Scroll right to display more columns. The LineOfBusiness, Markets, and Custom3 dimensions are displayed.

Scroll further right to display the rest of the columns. Note: The Description column displays the percentage of the child entity

Click Print to print the selected journal. A report for the selected journal is displayed.

Scroll to the bottom of the report.

Review the comments. Child entity contribution to the parent and the POV for the journal are displayed as comments.

You can also print automated consolidation journal reports from the Process Journals page. You can print a report for selected journal or for all journals.

In the View pane, select Tasks >Journal Tasks > Process Journals. The Process Journals page is displayed.

a) Select a journal, and click Reports. For this tutorial, the second journal is selected. b) Optional: Click the checkmark next to Label to select all journals

a) On the Properties tab, enter a label and description for the report, and click the Columns tab. b) Optional: Change the Scenario, Year, and Period POVs for the report.

In the Columns tab, select the columns that you want to display on the report, and click the Filter tab. For this tutorial, the Label, Description, Parent, and Entity columns are selected.

On the Filter tab, filter the report by Entity and Group, and click Print/Preview. For this tutorial, California.Plant1 is selected as the filter. The journal report is displayed.

Review the report.

Perform the following actions: a) Select Journals. b) In the Point of View, change the Value dimension to [Elimination] or [Proportion], and click Extract. In this tutorial, the Value dimension is changed to [Proportion]. The Download Instructions page is displayed.

Select "Click here to download." The File Download page is displayed.

Click Save to save the file on your computer. The Save As dialog box is displayed.

In the File name box, enter a name for the file, and click Save.

On your computer, navigate to the location where the file was saved, and open the file. The extract is displayed.
