Modifying Existing Oracle® Financial Management Analytics Reports

This tutorial covers modifying existing Oracle® Financial Management Analytics reports in Oracle Financial Management Analytics Configuration Utility.

Overview

After configuring Oracle Financial Management Analytics and accessing the dashboards in Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition, you can use Oracle Financial Management Analytics Configuration Utility to change the report definitions and the default members for each dimension in the reports. The configuration information is retained in the configuration utility so that you can change only the settings that you want to modify.

In this tutorial, you launch Oracle Financial Management Analytics Configuration Utility and change the report definitions and default members for the dimensions.

Scenario

Your organization uses Oracle Financial Management Analytics dashboards to display key performance indicators, reports, and metrics by using data from existing Oracle® Hyperion Financial Management, Fusion Edition applications. Some reports display information that is no longer relevant to your users. As the Oracle Financial Management Analytics administrator, you must modify the reports so that they are better optimized for your users' reporting requirements.

Prerequisites

Before starting this tutorial, you should:

Have installed Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition 11.1.1.5.1 and its components.

Have installed and configured Oracle Financial Management Analytics 11.1.2.1.

Have the administrator rights necessary to make changes to the repository in Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition.

Reviewing Required Modifications

In this topic, you launch Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition and review the modifications that you will make to your Oracle Financial Management Analytics reports.

In a browser, enter the URL for Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition. The URL is in the format: http://server name:port number/analytics, where:

  • Servername is the name of the computer hosting the Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition server.
  • Port is the server port number.
  • Analytics is the Virtual Directory set for Oracle Financial Management Analytics on the server.

The Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition Sign-In screen is displayed.

Perform the following actions:

  1. Enter the user ID for the Financial Management administrator. This user must have the required permission in both Financial Management and Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition.
  2. Enter the password for the Financial Management administrator.
  3. Click Sign In.

Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition is displayed.

Select Dashboards, then OFMA, and then Oracle Financial Management Analytics.

The Oracle Financial Management Analytics dashboards are displayed.

Click the Executive tab.

The Executive dashboard is displayed.

Review the POV Selector, and verify the following selections:

  • Scenario: Plan
  • Year: 2010
  • Period: Jan
  • View: Periodic
  • Value: USD

In this tutorial, you change the default scenario to Actual and the view to <Scenario View>.

In the Gross Profit By Products By Regions report, verify that the following products are displayed:

  • 4 Head VCR
  • High Definition TV
  • Plasma TV
  • Projection TV

In this tutorial, you remove 4 Head VCR and Projection TV from the report, and you display DVD Player and DVD/VCR Combo.

In the Income By Regions report, verify that the following entities are displayed:

  • North America
  • Latin America
  • EMEA
  • APAC
  • Corporate HQ

In this tutorial, you remove Corporate HQ from the report.

Click the Profit and Loss tab.

The Profit and Loss dashboard is displayed.

In the Summary Income Statement report, verify that the following accounts are displayed:

  • Net Income
  • Total Pretax Income
  • Pretax Income From Operations
  • Other Exp (Inc)
  • Provision for Income Tax
  • Gross Profit
  • Net Revenue

In this tutorial, you add Current Taxes and Deferred Taxes to the report.


Modifying the Reports

In this topic, you launch Oracle Financial Management Analytics Configuration Utility, and change the report definitions by modifying the dimensions that are displayed in the reports. Next, you change the default members for the Scenario, Period, and View dimensions.

Changing Report Definitions

Select Start, then All Programs, then Oracle Financial Management Analytics, and then Configuration Utility.

Oracle Financial Management Analytics Configuration Utility is displayed.

In the Catalog And Repository Details section, click Browse next to the Catalog Location field.

The Select Catalog Location dialog box is displayed.


.

Select FinancialManagementAnalytics for your existing Financial Management application, and click OK.


By default, the catalog is located in C:\OFMAHome_1\OFMA\.

In the Catalog And Repository Details section, click Browse next to the Repository Location field.

The Select RPD File dialog box is displayed.

Select FinanacialManagementAnalytics.rpd, and click OK.


By default, the catalog is located in C:\OFMAHome_1\OFMA.

In the BI Admin Server Details section, complete these fields for Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition:

  • In Host Name, enter the server name where Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition is installed.
  • In Port, enter the port number.
  • In User Name, enter the Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition user name.
  • In Password, enter the password.

In the HFM Server Details section, complete these fields for Financial Management:

  • In Server Name, enter the name of the cluster or server where the Financial Management application is deployed.
  • In Application Name, enter the name of the Financial Management application.
  • In User Name, enter the user name of the Financial Management administrator associated with the application.
  • In Password, enter the password of the Financial Management administrator associated with the application.

Click Next.

The configuration utility connects to the specified Financial Management application and extracts product and data information. Your previous selections are retained.

On the Entity Dimension screen, perform the following actions:

  1. Select TotalGeography.E05. (In this application, TotalGeography.E05 is the Corporate HQ entity.)
  2. Click the left arrow button to move it to the Entity Hierarchy section.
  3. Click Next.

On the Accounts Dimension screen, perform the following actions:

  1. In the Account Group drop-down list, select Income Accounts.
  2. In the Account Hierarchy section, expand IncomeStatement, then 300000, and then 320000.
  3. Select accounts 321000 and 322000, and click the right arrow button to move them to the Accounts section. (In this application, 321000 is Current Taxes, and 322000 is Deferred Taxes.)
  4. Click Next.

On the Performance Indicators screen, click Next.

On the Product Dimension screen, perform the following actions:

  1. In the Select Product drop-down list, select Custom1.
  2. Click Expand All.
  3. In the Products section, select VC1000 and ProjTV, and click the left arrow button to move them to the Product Hierarchy section.
  4. In the Product Hierarchy section, select DV1000 and DV4000, and click the right arrow button to move them to the Products section. (In this application, DV1000 is DVD Player, and DV4000 is DVD/VCR Combo.)
  5. Click Next.

On the Currency Constant Rate Dimension screen, click Next.

The Default Dimension Member screen is displayed.


Changing Default Members

On the Default Dimension Member screen, perform the following actions:

  1. In the Default Dimension drop-down list, select Scenario.
  2. In the Default Member section, select Plan, and click the left arrow button to move it to the Dimension Hierarchy section.
  3. In the Dimension Hierarchy section, select Actual, and click the right arrow button to move it to the Default Member section.

On the Default Dimension Member screen, perform the following actions:

  1. In the Default Dimension drop-down list, select View.
  2. In the Default Member section, select Periodic, and click the left arrow button to move it to the Dimension Hierarchy section.
  3. In the Dimension Hierarchy section, select <Scenario View>, and click the right arrow button to move it to the Default Member section.
  4. Click Next.

Select Upload Catalog to upload the Oracle Financial Management Analytics catalog to the business intelligence (BI) server, and click Next.

On the Summary screen, review your selections, and click Submit.

Verify that all changes were completed successfully, and click OK.

Oracle Financial Management Analytics Configuration Utility closes.


Verifying Changes

In this topic, you log into Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition and verify the changes that you made.
