Monthly Update Schedule

Oracle will apply the latest updates to your test environment on Friday, October 6, 2017 and to your production environment on Friday, October 20, 2017. The update will be applied during your normal daily maintenance window.

The Oracle Help Center, which provides access to updated documentation, will also be available on October 6, 2017.

NOTE:  You can migrate maintenance snapshots from the current version of the service instance to the preceding version or to the next version. For example, snapshots from 17.08 can be imported into 17.07 and 17.09 service instances. Migration between the same versions is always supported. For more information about migration, see Administering Migration for Oracle Enterprise Performance Management Cloud.

New EPM Automate Utility Version

A new version of the EPM Automate Utility is available with this update. This version includes updates to the login command, which now accepts internet proxy server domain, user name, and password as optional parameters. This enhancement enables you to use the EPM Automate utility in corporate network environments with internet proxy server configuration that require users to authenticate with the proxy server before establishing communication with resources outside the corporate network.

You must install this version of the utility to use the updated command. See these sections in Working with EPM Automate for Oracle Enterprise Performance Management Cloud:

Enhanced HsGetValue Function

The HsGetValue function now supports the use of attribute dimensions and members with Oracle Financial Consolidation and Close Cloud as a source.

For information on using the HsGetValue function, see the “HsGetValue” topic in Working with Oracle Smart View for Office.

Display Localized Labels in Referenced Navigation Flow Cards, Tabs, and Clusters

When referencing cards, tabs, and clusters from another navigation flow or from another subscription, the system now displays the localized labels that were specified while defining the source navigation flow. To update the card, tab, and cluster labels in your navigation flow, on the Home page, click Tools, and then click Artifact Labels. See “Designing Custom Navigation Flows” in Administering Financial Consolidation and Close Cloud.

Valid Intersections in Dashboard POVs

The POVs in dashboards now honor valid intersections by hiding invalid Page members. See "Dashboard POVs and Valid Intersections" in Administering Financial Consolidation and Close Cloud.

Ability to Set all Dimensions for a Point of View at One Time

In Financial Reporting Web Studio, you can now set all the dimensions for a point of view at one time without having to open and close multiple windows.

For detailed information, see “Changing the User Point of View" in Designing with Financial Reporting Web Studio for Oracle Enterprise Performance Management Cloud.

New Simplified Dimension Editor

The new Simplified Dimension Editor displays dimensions and members in a grid format. With the grid format, dimensions and members are editable on a single page. You can edit and validate member properties directly on the grid and you can perform ad hoc operations such as zooming in, zooming out, keep selected, remove selected, and freeze.

To access the Simplified Dimension Editor:

  1. From the Home page, click Application, and then click Overview.
  2. Click Dimensions.
  3. Click the name of the dimension that you want to view.
  4. Click the Edit Member Properties tab to view the dimension editor grid.

NOTE: In the Simplified Dimension Editor, the member formula for the consol cube is not available. Please use the Classic Dimension Editor or Smart View.

For more information, see “Editing Dimensions in the Simplified Dimension Editor” in Administering Oracle Financial Consolidation and Close Cloud.

Give Us Documentation Feedback

We welcome your comments and suggestions to improve the content of the What's New document and the product documentation. Please send us your feedback at EPMdoc_ww@oracle.com. In the body or title of the email, state that you are inquiring or providing feedback, and indicate for which EPM Cloud service as well as the monthly patch cycle.

Removal of Support

Classic Dimension Editor

Effective the February 2018 (18.02) update, the Dimensions link in the Navigator will link to the Simplified Dimension Editor. Consequently, the Classic Dimension Editor will not be supported starting with the February 2018 update to the service (February 2, 2018 for test and February 16, 2018 for production instances).

For detailed information on using the Simplified Dimension Editor, See Editing Dimensions in the Simplified Dimension Editor in Administering Oracle Financial Consolidation and Close Cloud.

File-Based Integration of Data Management with Oracle Fusion Financials Cloud

Oracle Fusion Financial Cloud Budgetary Control and Encumbrance Accounting is now fully integrated with Data Management.

This enhancement brings the integration of Oracle Fusion Financials Cloud with Oracle Enterprise Performance Management Cloud on par with the current, out of the box, file-based integration. As a result, the file-based integration is being phased out starting the September update to the service.

If you are using file-based integration between Oracle Fusion Financials Cloud and Oracle Enterprise Performance Management Cloud, Oracle recommends that you adopt this new integration as soon as possible.

Upcoming Updates to Plan For

Please take note of these important changes coming to Financial Consolidation and Close Cloud in the next few months, and plan accordingly.

Advanced Consolidation Capabilities

Advanced Consolidation features will be included in future updates. If the Ownership Management feature (which allows you to use Advanced Consolidation) is enabled, you will need to reconsolidate all existing data in order to re-populate the Proportion Consolidation dimension.

Limits on Dimension Members

For optimal performance, Financial Consolidation and Close Cloud will begin providing limits on the maximum number of dimension members allowed in each dimension. Starting in a future update, Financial Consolidation and Close Cloud will stop you from saving non-compliant metadata with error messages explaining that you have exceeded the acceptable number of dimension members.

Defects Fixed

Check this list again for the latest information when the update is applied to your test environment.

Considerations

Microsoft Excel Known Issue That Affects Smart View for Office

Due to an issue with Microsoft Office, using the copy and paste functionality in Excel and then performing any Smart View operation (such as Refresh, Zoom In, or Submit) causes Smart View to stop responding in the following cases (bug number 26796966):

The issue is fixed for Excel 2013 and Excel 2016 if you have applied the updates described in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base (KB) articles:

Microsoft has not provided the fix for Excel 2010. Workarounds:

CICTA Redirection Account Settings Not Retained After Upgrade

If you assigned an account as a CICTA Redirection Account, after you upgrade, the Redirection account attribute that you selected may be missing.

Copying Managed Data

When you run the Copy Data process and select Managed Data as the Data Source, the data may not display correctly.

To work around this issue, enter data for the Data Input member of the Data Source dimension. Copy data by selecting Data Input as the Data Source. Make sure that data is copied successfully, and then copy data by selecting Managed Data as the Data Source.

Self Service Upgrade

It is strongly recommended that you do not use the Upgrade Application Content settings in this update. Although a new Upgrade screen is available in Daily Maintenance, this feature is not fully functional.

FCCS Amount Override and Rate Override Accounts

If your application does not have any historical accounts defined, there will be no shared members under the seeded FCCS_Amount Override and FCCS_Rate_Override Accounts, which results in errors when refreshing the database.

A workaround is to add placeholder accounts.  Under FCCS_Balance Sheet add FCCS_AmountOverride_Placeholder_Account and/or add  FCCS_RateOverride_Placeholder_Account.  Assign the exchange rate of Historical Amount Override for FCCS_AmountOverride Placeholder Account and Historical Rate Override for FCCS_RateOverride Placeholder Account.

Editing Dates in a Data Collection Period

In a Data Collection Period in Supplemental Data, editing Start, End, and Close Dates may result in an error that the date is outside the valid range.

Entity Member Names/Aliases with ICP Property

When you create an Entity with the ICP property enabled, the maximum length of the member name is 76 characters instead of 80, to allow for the ICP suffix.

Working with Metadata
