Ability to Create New Composite Forms
To allow customers more time to adapt and move from composite forms to dashboards, Oracle has decided to defer the removal of the ability to create new composite forms (forms that comprise multiple simple forms) to a future update in 2019. After this update all existing composite forms can still be edited and used. This change impacts only the creation of new composite forms in the service. Oracle will notify you at least two months prior to the removal of the feature.
All customers are advised to use dashboards in place of composite forms. No more enhancements will be made to the composite forms functionality.
With a view to allowing customers more time to familiarize themselves with the Simplified Dimension Editor, Oracle has decided to defer the removal of support for Classic Dimension Editor to a future update in 2019. Oracle will notify you at least two months prior to the removal of the feature.
Proposed Changes to Application-Level Access Control
Using Groups created in Access Control, EPM Cloud supports application-level access control for planning, consolidation and close, tax reporting, and Oracle Enterprise Data Management Cloud applications. In addition to the custom groups created in Access Control, access control screens list predefined identity domain roles (Service Administrator, Power User, User and Viewer) as groups.
With a view to simplifying security across EPM Cloud and to ensure that application-level access control can be seamlessly migrated across environments, Oracle plans to remove the ability to display predefined roles as groups in access control screens. After this change, you will no longer see predefined roles listed when you search for groups in access control screens.
NOTE: The proposed change will not affect how you create and manage groups or use them for application-level access control.
Before making this change, Oracle wants to evaluate the impact, if any, that the proposed change will have on your environments. If you are concerned that the proposed change will affect your environment, please create a service request explaining your use case.
Software issues addressed each month will be posted to My Oracle Support.

New EPM Automate Utility Version
A new version of the EPM Automate Utility is available with this update. This version includes the following new commands
- addUsersToGroup, which adds a batch of users to an existing group in Access Control using an ANSI or UTF-8 encoded Comma Separated Value (CSV) file that was uploaded to the environment.
- removeUsersFromGroup, which removes users listed in an ANSI or UTF-8 encoded CSV file from a group maintained in Access Control.
Additionally, this version includes enhancements to the following commands:
- assignrole: this command has been enhanced to provision users with roles belonging to a planning, consolidation, tax reporting, or data management application.
- unassignrole: this command has been enhanced to revoke the application roles granted to a list of users identified in a CSV file.
- provisionreport: this command has been enhanced to, optionally, generate a Provisioning Report (.CSV format) that lists only the users who are assigned the Identity Domain Administrator role. This command has also been enhanced to, optionally, create a simplified version of the Provisioning Report, which lists only the pre-defined roles and inherited application roles to which users are assigned. By default, this command now generates the classic Provisioning Report, which lists component roles that are subsumed into the pre-defined roles.
NOTE: In a future update, Oracle will make the simplified Provisioning Report as the default report that is generated from Access Control as well as using the provisionreport command. You will still be able to create the classic Provisioning Report using this command.

New Expression Types in Data Integration
In this update, new expressions have been made available in the import format. Expressions operate on the value that is read from the import file.
New target dimension expression types include Copy Source value, Prefix, Suffix, Substring, Replace, Default, Rtrim, Ltrim, Rpad, Lpad, Constant, Conditional, Split, and SQL.
Using import expressions you can transform the source value read from file to target dimension values to be loaded to target application. These expressions can be used instead of member mappings for performing simple data transformations. For large data sets using import expressions for transformation will improve the data load performance.
The new expressions can be defined only using Simplified user interface. They will not be made available automatically in Data Management.

Improved Daily Maintenance Performance and New Application Setting
This update introduces a new application setting which improves automated maintenance window (AMW) performance.
Prior to this update, the daily maintenance backup would perform a data export of the Essbase data plus the Planning member-driven Smart List intersections with their corresponding text labels. Thus for high volume data customers, the hour-long daily maintenance process was not long enough to complete a full data export.
Due to optimization done in 18.10, daily maintenance no longer needs to export member driven Smart Lists. The backup generated during the daily maintenance process now creates a snapshot where the data can be used to clone an environment.
New application setting: Export Planning Smart List data during AMW
- No—Creates a complete application backup during the maintenance process, such that data can be used as part of a full restoration
- Yes (default)—Performs a complete export, such that data can be incrementally imported to an application (this option may lengthen the maintenance process duration)
If you need to perform an incremental (or selective) data load, then keep the default option (Yes) to perform a complete export during the maintenance process, including the Planning Smart List data.
NOTE: If No is selected, the data portion of the backup does not have Planning Smart List data, so using the backup to perform incremental (or selective) data load can lead to data loss.

System Settings and Defaults Moved to Application Settings in the Simplified Interface
In a further effort to simplify how you manage administrator settings, administrators can now define all application settings and system defaults in one place in the Simplified Interface. For example, from the Home page, select Application, and then Settings to set email options, assign an owner to an application, or to enable currency options.
Previously, these settings were accessed from the Navigator menu on the System Settings and Defaults page. Starting with this update, the System Settings and Defaults link has been removed from the Navigator menu.

As an end user, you can now set your preferences for many aspects of the application in a comprehensive, integrated framework in the Simplified Interface. For example, from the Home page, select Tools, and then User Preferences to set your profile picture, select members for user variables, set preferences for ad hoc options and printed reports, and so on. The preferences you set override your administrator’s settings, and persist across sessions. However, you can always change your preferences or revert to the administrator’s settings if you want to.
The new user preferences functionality is integrated across the Planning and Budgeting platform, so you benefit from using a similar user interface across its services—for example, across Planning, Financial Close, and Tax Reporting. Before, you set preferences from different parts of the application, but now you can set all your preferences in one place.
These enhancements greatly simplify how you set and manage your preferences.

Loading Data Using an Incremental File Adapter
Data Management now includes an incremental file adapter to optimize the data load process. The new Incremental adapter compares the source data file with a prior version of the source data file and identifies new or changed records and loads only this data set. The user has the option to sort the input source data file before making the comparison or they can provide a pre-sorted file for better performance.

Proposed Changes to Application-Level Access Control
Using Groups created in Access Control, EPM Cloud supports application-level access control for planning, consolidation and close, tax reporting, and Oracle Enterprise Data Management Cloud applications. In addition to the custom groups created in Access Control, access control screens list predefined identity domain roles (Service Administrator, Power User, User and Viewer) as groups.
With a view to simplifying security across EPM Cloud and to ensure that application-level access control can be seamlessly migrated across environments Oracle plans to remove the ability to display predefined roles as groups in access control screens.

Incremental Export and Import Behavior Change
In the initial 18.07 update, Oracle changed the behavior of incremental export and import operations to prevent the selection of Essbase Data and a few other artifacts. Due to customer demand, Oracle reverted this change in a later 18.07 patch, which was applied to your test and production environments. The reverted behavior allows you to select all artifacts, including Essbase Data artifacts, during incremental exports and imports.
Due to this change, these artifacts can now be selected for incremental exports. These can also be imported from snapshots:
- All artifacts in the Essbase Data folder located in Planning\Essbase Data
- Text Values in Planning\Relational Data\Text Values
- Supporting Detail in Planning\Relational Data\Supporting Detail
- Cell Texts in Planning\Relational Data\Cell Texts

Folder Support for Dashboards and Infolets
The listing pages for dashboards and infolets now support folders. Folders enable you to assign permissions to all artifacts within a folder rather than assigning permissions to each individual artifact. The listing pages for dashboards and infolets will look and behave the same as the listing page for data (forms). All three artifact listing pages (forms, dashboards, and infolets) use the same folder hierarchy and all artifacts and folders reside under a root folder called Library.
- To create a folder, click the Navigator, and then click Forms.
- To assign permissions to a folder in the artifact listing, click the Actions menu associated with the folder.
- To move an existing artifact into another folder, click the Actions menu associated with the artifact, click Move To, and then select the folder to which you want to move the artifact.
Search and Filter will also work for dashboards and infolets in the same way as they do for forms.

Updated Vision Sample Application
An updated version of the Vision sample application is available starting with this update. The Vision sample application helps you learn how to use Oracle Planning and Budgeting Cloud to plan, forecast, and track the financial performance of your business. The updated sample application contains these recent features in Oracle Planning and Budgeting Cloud:
INFOLETS
The sample application now supports Infolets, which provide the dashboard capability to enable data visualization. As a Service Administrator, you can create infolets for any cube to provide enhanced graphical data presentation to users using charts and texts.
ABILITY TO ENTER DATA INTO SUPPRESSED ROWS
The updated sample application allows Service Administrators to enable users to enter data in a web form for members on rows that are currently suppressed (because they have no data and the form layout option “Suppress Missing Data – Rows” option is selected).
NAVIGATION FLOWS
Service Administrators can set up connections that enable users to navigate across Oracle Enterprise Performance Management Cloud environments to create unified business process flows across multiple environments. Cross-environment navigation flows allow users of multiple EPM Cloud environments to sign into one environment, and then seamlessly navigate to others without going through additional authentication processes. Service Administrators can create mashups of artifacts from various environments into a single unified business process flow for their users. Clusters, cards, and tabs can be brought together into a single flow. These cards and tabs can contain forms, reports, and dashboards from various applications. Users will not see the clusters, cards and tabs in the process flow unless they are members of the groups to which these flows are assigned.
SMART FORMS
Three Smart Forms: one containing Excel formulas, one containing Excel functions, and one created in Smart View, are included.

Migration Export Scenarios: Clone and Incremental Export
Migration has been enhanced to differentiate two export scenarios:
Backup to create a snapshot that can be used to clone an environment, for example to migrate an application from a production instance to a test instance for troubleshooting or additional development work.
When you backup the environment, you create a snapshot of the entire environment, similar to the daily maintenance snapshot, by exporting the application with all of its data and artifacts including artifacts belonging to Document Repository, Data Management, Calculation Manager, Relational and Essbase data, and Groups and Membership.
Export to create an incremental backup of specific artifacts in an environment. Generally, you use incremental snapshots to create backups that can be used to update another environment. For example, you can export artifacts that you tested in a test environment to create an interim snapshot, which you can import into a production environment.
Artifacts that can be exported only as a part of backup operation are greyed out and cannot be selected during export.

New Data Integration Component in the Simplified User Interface
In addition to the standard Data Management interface, the 18.07 update provides a new, simplified interface to work with integrations in the Oracle’s Planning and Budgeting Cloud Service. The new simplified interface, called Data Integration is the front-end for all integration-related activities. Using this interface, the workflow to create mapping rules to translate and transform source data into required target formats, and to execute and manage the periodic data loading process is now streamlined and simplified.
Data Integration is featured as a new tab on the Data Exchange card under the Application cluster, or from the Navigator. It is fully embedded within the simplified interface and customers can now work with integrations as they do with other planning tasks.
Currently, Data Integration is available as a preview version only for Planning and Budgeting Cloud, Enterprise Planning and Budgeting Cloud, and Strategic Workforce Planning Cloud Service Administrators. It must be used in conjunction with Data Management to complete setup tasks such as registering source systems or target applications. Data Management is still fully supported and remains available as a menu selection under the Navigator.

The New Data Exchange Card Includes the Data Maps User Interface
The Data Maps user interface is now featured as a new tab on the Data Exchange card under the Application cluster; it can also be accessed from the Navigator. No functional changes have resulted from the Data Maps reassignment to the Data Exchange card. The Data Exchange card is available in Strategic Workforce Planning Cloud as well.
You should update custom navigation flows that point to the Data Maps card to point to the Data Maps tab under the new Data Exchange Card as soon as possible.
NOTE: The Data Maps user interface can still be accessed by launching the Data Maps card in the Application cluster. The Data Maps card will be removed from the Application cluster in a future update.

Benefits and Taxes Wizard Enhancements
In the Workforce business process, you can now input component rates and logic by period and by entity in the Benefits and Taxes wizard. You can optionally enter additional earnings, benefits, and tax rates by month, which allows you to plan for mid-year rate changes and assess their impact on compensation expenses. For example, you can account for a tax rate that changes in July.
For years configured with Quarterly or Annual periodicity, input is at the Quarterly or Yearly periods, and then the rule One Time - Copy Rates to Months is launched upon Save to copy those rates to months for those years.
Before this enhancement, compensation drivers were stored at the Entity Assumption member, which applied to all entities. So a Fringe benefit, for example, was the same for all entities. To vary the logic for different employees, you had to use different components or options and tiers. Now, using the Member Selector in the Benefits and Taxes wizard, you can select which entities to apply rates to. So, for example, you can set Fringe benefits as 10% for the Finance US entity and 12% for Sales US. You can also vary rates by period when setting up component rates and logic.
Important: Updating users must run the new rule One Time - Copy Rates to Months, which copies rates from the BegBalance member to all months. Run this rule only once, immediately after upgrading. To run this rule, on the Home page, click Rules, then All Cubes, and then select OEP_WFSC from the Cube drop-down list. Then click Launch for the rule One Time - Copy Rates to Months.
Monthly calculations enable another enhancement: a new Threshold Scope setting for a component as YTD (Year-to-Date) or Monthly. The Monthly option enables you to set rate tiers that are calculated independently each month. For example, an insurance program may apply rate tiers that start from zero each month.
In addition, you can now set rates same rates for multiple entities by using Copy Rates Across Entities rule. This rule is especially useful when a number of entities use the same rates, for example new hire salaries, additional earnings, benefits, or taxes. Before, you had to set the rates individually by entity. Now, you can copy component rates and thresholds from one entity to another section of the hierarchy by running the rule Copy Rates Across Entities. In the Member Selector, select the appropriate parent for the target entity member.

Create Custom Calculation Logic in a Component
In the Workforce business process, now you can create custom calculation logic for a component’s additional earnings, benefits, or taxes. Defining your own calculations gives you great flexibility in applying conditional logic and specifying value drivers to component calculations.
For example, create a bonus calculation that applies to new hires who start in the first 6 months of a calendar year, but not for those who start in the last 6 months of the calendar year in their first year of hire. You can also base additional earnings, benefits, or taxes on a driver other than the predefined ones (for example, Flat Amount, Percentage of Salary, and so on). So, for example, you could base an additional earning such as commissions on a custom member that you create, like Revenue. To specify a member as the Value Type driver, you include it in the member formula for the component type of Custom.

Greater Control in Expense Timing
In the Workforce business process, you now have greater control over when component expenses occur. New One-time Pay Options for Payment Frequency enable you to specify which month an additional earning, benefit, or tax is paid. Your options depend on which Payment Terms you’ve selected for the component.
For example, if your Payment Terms is Semiannually (Calendar), and you select One-time Pay as the Payment Frequency, then the one-time payment occurs once in 6 months. For One-time Pay Options, you can then select whether the expense is paid in the first, second, third, fourth, fifth, or sixth month in the half-year. If you select Second Month, the expense would occur in the second month of the first half of the year (February) and the second month of the second half of the year (August).
Another example: if your Payment Terms is Annually (Fiscal Year), and you select One-time Pay as the Payment Frequency, then the one-time payment occurs once in the fiscal year. For One-time Pay Options, you can then select which month in the fiscal year (first through twelfth) the expense is calculated. If your fiscal year starts in July, and you select the twelfth month, the expense is added in June.
You access these new options in the Benefits and Taxes wizard, from the Workforce Configure page on the Details page for the component.
For Current Customers Only: Unless you select a One Time Pay Option, your component expenses continue to occur in the first month of your selected payment frequency.

More Flexibility with Hiring Requisitions
In the Workforce business process, the salary for new hires was formerly set using Salary Defaults. Now, you can set the salary for a new hire requisition (TBH) in one of three ways:
- By using the salary defaults, based on the entity defaults defined for the salary. (This option is the default and assumed if you don’t select a salary option when adding a TBH.)
- By directly entering the salary rate and selecting the salary basis (for example, Monthly or Annual)
- By selecting an existing salary grade
To provide more flexibility in managing the workforce expenses of temporary employees, you can now specify the start month and year and the end month and year for requisitions. The Add Hiring Requisition wizard now provides a Calendar prompt for specifying these dates. The start month and year is required, but the end month and year isn’t required. However, if you know the end date for a temporary employee, specifying it saves you from having to plan their departure using the Plan Departure rule. Calculations for their workforce expenses then begin and end with their start and end dates.
If needed, you can later change the Salary Rate, Salary Basis, Salary Grade, or the end period for a hiring requisition that you’ve added.

Important Information for Current Workforce Customers
- This monthly update includes two new rules to support more flexibility in managing hiring requisitions: Add Requisition and Change Requisition. To make these new rules available to users, you must give users access to the rules. To do so, on the Home page, click Rules, then select the OEP_WFP cube, the new rule, and then the Permission icon.
- Workforce enhancements available in 18.07 required updates to some artifacts. If you haven’t modified these artifacts, then the artifacts and features are available to you automatically with the 18.07 update. Because customized artifacts are not updated during this update, if you have made updates to these artifacts and want to take advantage of the new features, perform the steps in the appendix Updating Workforce Artifacts to Use New Features in Administering Planning for Oracle Enterprise Planning and Budgeting Cloud.
- Immediately after updating the Workforce content, you must run the new rule One Time - Copy Rates to Months, which copies rates from the BegBalance member to all months. Run this rule only once, immediately after updating content. To run this rule, on the Home page, click Rules, then All Cubes, and then select OEP_WFSC from the Cube drop-down list. Then click Launch for the rule One Time Copy Rates to Months.
- For components configured with the Payment Frequency set to One Time Pay: Unless you select a One-time Pay Option, your component expenses continue to occur in the first month of your selected payment frequency.

Updates to Snapshot Retention Policy
The daily maintenance process has been enhanced to prevent large accumulation of snapshots (over 150 GB) in EPM Cloud environments.
By default, the snapshots that you create through the export process or upload to an environment are stored for a period not exceeding 60 days after which they are automatically removed. Starting with this update, the daily maintenance process will automatically remove snapshots prior to sixty days, oldest first, to prevent the total size of all snapshots from exceeding 150 GB, which may adversely impact your environment. The daily maintenance snapshot, irrespective of its size, is always retained in EPM Cloud environments.

New Smart View System Setting: Suppress Application Management Options
Some application management settings in Smart View are located near some commonly-used Smart View end user commands and may be mistakenly selected by administrators. A new system setting in Oracle Planning and Budgeting Cloud and in Oracle Enterprise Planning and Budgeting Cloud allows service administrators to configure the display of those application management options in Smart View, reducing the chance of an administrator selecting them in error.
The new system setting, Suppress Application Management Options in Smart View, is set to “No” by default. This means that these application management options—Update Application and Delete Application—are displayed in Smart View to administrators. Setting this option to “Yes” hides these application management commands. Anytime this setting is changed, administrators must refresh their Smart View connection to see the effect of the change.
To locate this new setting, click the Navigator, then select System Settings and Defaults. The Suppress Application Management Options in Smart View setting is on the System Settings tab under Advanced Settings.

New Data Exchange Card in Oracle EPM Cloud
To facilitate easier access to Data Management features, starting with the 18.07 update, EPM Cloud will feature a new Data Exchange card in the Application Cluster. This card will launch a page from which you can access these Data Management features:
- Data Maps--Launches the existing Data Maps user interface so that users can manage maps between a source application and a reporting application. No functional changes will result from the Data Maps reassignment to the Data Exchange card.
- Data Integration--Launches the Integrations tab of the Simplified Interface. The Integrations tab consolidates all import/export tasks under a single tab. Formerly in the Standard Interface, integration tasks were accessed from the Data Management tab.
With a view to allowing customers more time to familiarize themselves with the Simplified Dimension Editor, Oracle has decided to defer the removal of support for Classic Dimension Editor to a future update. The current plan is to remove access to the Classic Dimension Editor starting with the 18.10 (October 2018) update to the service.

Composite Form Creation Capability
To allow customers more time to adapt and move from composite forms to dashboards, Oracle has decided to defer the removal of the ability to create new composite forms (forms that comprise multiple simple forms) to a future release update (January 2019 - 19.01). Oracle had previously announced that this feature will be removed in the June (18.06) update.
All customers are advised to use dashboards in place of composite forms. There will be no more enhancements to the composite forms functionality.
Financial Reporting Studio Desktop Client
Oracle is committed to providing a simple and intuitive user experience. To achieve this, Financial Reporting Web Studio, available since March 2016, will become the only environment for designing and building reports.
Oracle is providing additional time for users to transition from Financial Reporting Desktop Studio to Financial Reporting Web Studio. Tentative plans call for functional parity between Financial Reporting Web Studio and Financial Reporting Desktop Studio in 2018, at which time, support for the Desktop Studio will transition to the Web Studio and distribution of the Desktop Studio will cease. This transition is tentatively planned for the 18.09 update (September 07, 2018 for test and September 21, 2018 for production environments).
Oracle recommends that you transition to using Financial Reporting Web Studio at the earliest opportunity. Please send questions and concerns to Oracle using the Provide Feedback option in the service.
Software issues addressed each month will be posted to My Oracle Support.

Composite Form Creation Capability
The ability to create new composite forms (forms that comprise multiple simple forms) will not be available to new subscriptions effective 18.06 (June 2018 update). This change does not affect existing subscriptions. All subscriptions (even new subscriptions starting on or after June 2018) will continue to have the ability to edit composite forms. This is to accommodate scenarios where customers migrate composite forms from their on-premises deployments.
All customers should use the dashboard functionality instead of composite forms. There will be no further enhancements to the composite forms functionality.
In a future update (tentatively planned for the June (18.06) update), Service Administrators will have the ability to organize dashboards in folders. These folders will enable Service Administrators to apply security and permissions to folders rather than to each dashboard.
Existing dashboards will be visible under the root folder in dashboards and infolets listing pages after this new feature is introduced. The form folders available in the environment will also be available for organizing dashboards because folders are shared across artifact types in Planning and Budgeting Cloud and Enterprise Planning and Budgeting Cloud. All folders will be managed using a unified folder management screen.
Exporting Multiple Financial Reporting Folders
You cannot export multiple folders to a single file from the Financial Reporting Explore Repository.
Workaround: Select reports or folders individually for export, or use Migration to export multiple folders.

Schedule Jobs to Run Hourly and By Minute
You can now schedule jobs to run in 15 minute, 30 minute, and hourly increments. Jobs scheduled to run hourly, for example, will start to run in exactly one hour. So if you set the job to run hourly and the time is currently 3:11, the job will start to run at 4:11, then 5:11, and so on.
You can set the frequency of By Minute jobs for 15 or 30 minutes. The job will start running in 15 or 30 minutes and continue to run at the selected frequency until the ending date and time; for example, if you set the job to run every 15 minutes and the current time is 3:15, the job will start to run at 3:30, then 3:45, and so on.
Jobs cannot be scheduled to run in increments smaller than 15 minutes.

New Row and Column Suppression Behavior
Service administrators can use the Smart View Suppression Behavior option to change suppression behavior when both the Smart View No Data/Missing and Zero suppression options for rows, or columns, or both are selected.
If the Smart View Suppression Behavior option in the web application is set to:
Legacy—Only suppresses rows or columns containing either all No Data/Missing or all Zeros. Does not suppress rows or columns containing a combination of No Data/Missing and Zeros. For example, in Smart View, if both the No Data/Missing and Zero suppression options are selected for rows, and a row contains both zeroes and Missing labels, then the row is displayed; it is not suppressed.
Standard—Suppresses rows or columns containing all No Data/Missing or all Zeros, or a combination of both. For example, in Smart View, if both the No Data/Missing and Zero suppression options are selected for columns, and a column contains both zeroes and Missing labels, then the column is suppressed; it is not displayed.

Simplified Merit-Based Planning
In the Workforce business process, you can now set default percentage rates for merit increases and apply them to other entities. The merit increase for the year is included in the base salary calculations of that year and carried forward into the base salary for subsequent years. Planning merit rates by entities enables you to calculate salaries that include merit increases when performance ratings aren’t available. This capability also lets you plan merit rates at a more generic level than basing the merit rates on performance ratings.
To plan merit rates at the entity level, select Compensation Planning, then the the Assumptions tab, and then the Merit Rates form. Select the entity, and then enter the merit rate percentage into the new Default Merit member.
A new business rule—Copy Merit Rates— enables you to copy merit rates from one entity to other level 0 entities based on the members selected in the rule prompt. Access the rule from the Action menu on the Merit Rates form, and in the rule prompt, select the parent or child entity member whose merit rate you want to copy and the target level 0 member to copy the rate to. Selecting a source parent member enables you to easily push merit rates.
Apply to Button in Forecast Method
In the Strategic Modeling Smart View extension, the Forecast Method now includes an Apply To button for freeform formulas. Apply To enables you to apply the freeform formula to selected subaccounts and children.

Standard Interface (Planning and Budgeting Cloud Workspace Interface) Support Removed
As notified through earlier Cloud Readiness documents, starting with the 17.12 update, the Standard Interface, which is also known as the Enterprise Planning and Budgeting Cloud Workspace, is no longer supported. Issues reported for the Standard Interface will no longer be addressed. This change affects only Planning and Budgeting Cloud Service customers who activated their subscriptions on or before July 31, 2016. All these customers are expected to have a transition plan for their users to use the Simplified Interface.
For users of the Simplified Interface, effective with the June 2018 (18.06) update, the Dimensions link in the Navigator will link to the Simplified Dimension Editor, which was released with the 17.05 update (May 2017). Consequently, the Classic Dimension Editor will not be supported starting with the June 2018 update to the service (June 1, 2018 for test and June 15, 2018 for production instances).

Planning and Budgeting Cloud and Enterprise Planning and Budgeting Cloud
New EPM Automate Utility Version
A new version of the EPM Automate Utility is available with this update. This version includes the upgrade command, which automatically downloads and silently installs the newest version of the EPM Automate Utility. After you run the login command to initiate a session, the utility identifies the current installed version. If the installed version is not the newest available, you can run this command to download and install the latest version.
Key Resources
See EPM Automate Utility Commands in Working with EPM Automate for Oracle Enterprise Performance Management Cloud for detailed information.
Business rules that are deployed in Planning can be used in forms, rulesets, menus, and task lists. You can generate a report, called the Rules Usage Report, that details where rules are used. To view rules usage, click the Navigator icon, and then under Monitor and Explore, click System Reports. Click the Rules Details tab, select filter criteria, and then choose the report’s file format. The Rules Usage Report provides the rule name, rule type, cube, and any associations (primary and secondary).
Key Resources
For more information, see “Viewing Rules Usage” in Administering Planning for Oracle Planning and Budgeting Cloud.
The Simplified audit feature has been expanded to audit additional task types. Service Administrators can now filter tasks by audit type (for example, Data, Approvals, or Clear Cell Details) in addition to filtering by date range (for example, Yesterday, or Last 60 Days, and user name. You can configure and change which tasks are tracked, and you can also export all of the records that match the filter criteria to a Microsoft Excel file.
To access the Simplified audit feature, from the Home page, click Application, and then Audit. To configure and change which tasks are tracked, click Enable Auditing. To export records to a Microsoft Excel file, click Export.
NOTE: The Simplified audit interface is evolving and is subject to change. Oracle may be changing the interface and adding, deleting, or changing audit types in future updates to the service.
Key Resources
For more information, see Auditing Tasks and Data in Administering Planning for Oracle Planning and Budgeting Cloud.
Enter Data Into Suppressed Row Members
Service Administrators can now enable users to enter data in a Planning web form for members on rows that are currently suppressed (because they have no data and the form layout option “Suppress Missing Data – Rows” option is selected).
The new Segment Properties option “Enable drop-down for dimensions” in form layout produces a Down Arrow drop-down list by a row’s unsuppressed member. Clicking the Down Arrow enables users to select other suppressed row members so they can enter data into them.
Changes to EPM Groovy Object Model Usage
Oracle has noticed that the saveMember() and delete() methods are being used in ways for which they are not intended. While many of these usages are creative and positive, some usage scenarios have caused issues for end users.
Until Oracle can find a solution for such issues, starting with the 18.03 update, saveMember() and delete() will be defined as privileged methods in EPM Groovy Object Models. As a result of making these methods privileged, only users with Administrator privileges will be permitted to use them to make metadata changes.
All customers are expected to transition from using the saveMember() and delete() methods to one of the following methods. If such a transition is not possible, please file a Service Request describing how you use these methods and why you cannot use one of the following methods. Additionally, provide some or all of the script where you use the saveMember() and delete() methods.
- Member.addDynamicChild(String memberName)
- Member.deleteIfDynamic()
- Member.isDynamic()
- Member.rename(String newName)
Standard Interface (Planning and Budgeting Cloud Workspace Interface) Support Removed

Enterprise Planning and Budgeting Cloud Only
Chart of Accounts Flexibility in Financials
The Financials business process in Enterprise Planning and Budgeting Cloud includes a robust, complete chart of accounts to get you up and running quickly. Financials also gives you the flexibility to use your own chart of accounts and still retain the benefits of the integrated Financials framework.
You choose whether to use the provided chart of accounts or your own chart of accounts when you enable features.
When you create your own chart of accounts, you can still:
- Use existing forms and dashboards
- Work with existing integrated financial statement
- Use existing calculations, such as trend-based planning
- Integrate with other business processes
Existing customers of the Financials business process are not impacted by this change.
Key Resources
For more information, see About the Financials Chart of Accounts in Administering Planning for Oracle Enterprise Planning and Budgeting Cloud.
Flexible Custom Dimension Usage in Financials
In the Financials business process in Enterprise Planning and Budgeting Cloud, you can now associate custom dimensions with any Financials feature (Expense, Revenue, Balance Sheet, or Cash Flow). When you create custom dimensions the first time you enable Financials features, you specify to which features the dimensions apply. For example, a custom dimension might apply only to Expense, or only to Revenue. After first enablement, you can incrementally associate a custom dimension with additional features. Financials offers five custom dimensions.
After upgrade, any existing custom dimensions are applicable only for Revenue. You can associate them with additional features if needed.
Key Resources
See Associating Custom Dimensions with Financials Features in Administering Planning for Oracle Enterprise Planning and Budgeting Cloud.
Configuration Enhancements for Importing Members for Financials
When configuring the Financials business process of Enterprise Planning and Budgeting Cloud for the provided chart of accounts, there are more categories and components available for importing accounts, based on the features you enabled. Categories and components provide logical groupings under which to add members.
New Delete Hierarchy Option in Strategic Modeling
In the Model view of Strategic Modeling in Enterprise Planning and Budgeting Cloud, you can now choose to delete either a single model or the entire model hierarchy. Deleting a model hierarchy deletes the parent and all of its descendants. The Delete Hierarchy option can save you time when you are restoring from a backup.
Key Resources
See Opening, Checking Out, and Deleting Models in Working with Planning for Oracle Enterprise Planning and Budgeting Cloud.
For users of the Simplified Interface, effective with the March 2018 (18.03) update, the Dimensions link in the Navigator will link to the Simplified Dimension Editor, which was released with the 17.05 update (May 2017). USING FIREFOX ESR 52.4.2 WITH SMART VIEW
Mozilla Firefox has phased out support for XUL-based add-ons such as Smart View. Only add-ons and extensions built with new web extension technology work in newer versions of Firefox. Therefore, Smart View 11.1.2.5.710 and newer releases support only Firefox versions up to ESR 52.4.1. If you want to continue using Firefox with Smart View 11.1.2.5.710 and newer, do not upgrade your Firefox browser.
If your Firefox browser is set to automatically install updates, Oracle recommends changing the setting to “Check for updates, but let me choose whether to install them.” See the Firefox help for instructions on changing this setting.
