Optional Uptake of New Features (Opt In)

Oracle Cloud Applications delivers new updates every quarter. This means every three months you'll receive new functionality to help you efficiently and effectively manage your business. Some features are delivered Enabled meaning they are immediately available to end users. Other features are delivered Disabled meaning you have to take action to make available. Features delivered Disabled can be activated for end users by stepping through the following instructions using the following privileges:

  • Review Applications Offering (ASM_REVIEW_APPLICATIONS_OFFERINGS_PRIV)
  • Configure Oracle Fusion Applications Offering (ASM_CONFIGURE_OFFERING_PRIV)

Here’s how you opt in to new features:

  1. Click Navigator > My Enterprise > New Features.
  2. On the Features Overview page, select your offering to review new features specific to it. Or, you can leave the default selection All Enabled Offerings to review new features for all offerings.
  3. On the New Features tab, review the new features and check the opt-in status of the feature in the Enabled column. If a feature has already been enabled, you will see a check mark. Otherwise, you will see an icon to enable the feature.
  4. Click the icon in the Enabled column and complete the steps to enable the feature.

For more information and detailed instructions on opting in to new features for your offering, see Offering Configuration.

Opt In Expiration

Occasionally, features delivered Disabled via Opt In may be enabled automatically in a future update. This is known as an Opt In Expiration. If your cloud service has any Opt In Expirations in this update, you will see a related tab in this document. Click on that tab to see when the feature was originally delivered Disabled, and when the Opt In will expire, potentially automatically enabling the feature. You can also click here to see features with current Opt In Expirations across all Oracle Cloud Applications. Beyond the current update, the Financials forums on Cloud Customer Connect have details of Opt In Expirations upcoming in future updates.

Feature Summary

Column Definitions:

Report = New or modified, Oracle-delivered, ready to run reports.

UI or Process-Based: Small Scale = These UI or process-based features are typically comprised of minor field, validation, or program changes. Therefore, the potential impact to users is minimal.

UI or Process-Based: Larger Scale* = These UI or process-based features have more complex designs. Therefore, the potential impact to users is higher.

Features Delivered Disabled = Action is needed BEFORE these features can be used by END USERS. These features are delivered disabled and you choose if and when to enable them. For example, a) new or expanded BI subject areas need to first be incorporated into reports, b) Integration is required to utilize new web services, or c) features must be assigned to user roles before they can be accessed.

Ready for Use by End Users
(Feature Delivered Enabled)

Reports plus Small Scale UI or Process-Based new features will have minimal user impact after an update. Therefore, customer acceptance testing should focus on the Larger Scale UI or Process-Based* new features.

Customer Must Take Action before Use by End Users
(Feature Delivered Disabled)

Not disruptive as action is required to make these features ready to use. As you selectively choose to leverage, you set your test and roll out timing.

Limit Reassignment or Delegation of Workflow Tasks

When users reassign or delegate specific workflow tasks, by default they can select any user. Create and set a profile option so that users can reassign or delegate tasks only to someone else with the same legal employer, or only from specific legal employers. This applies even when users are defining vacation rules that control what happens to tasks that are assigned to them while they’re out of office.

This restriction helps you ensure that workflow tasks don't get reassigned or delegated to someone who shouldn't have access to it, based on your company requirements and policies.

Steps to Enable

CREATE THE PROFILE OPTION

  1. In the Setup and Maintenance work area, go to the Manage Applications Core Profile Options task in the Application Extensions functional area for your offering.

  2. Create a profile option with BPM_RESTRICT_WORKFLOW_USERS_BY_SECURITY_POLICY as the profile option code, Common Work Setup selected from the Application list, and Application Common selected from the Module list.

  3. On the Manage Applications Core Profile Options page, select your new profile option.

  4. In the <Profile Option>: Profile Option Levels subsection, select the Enabled and Updatable check boxes for the Site level.

SET THE PROFILE OPTION

In the Setup and Maintenance work area, go to the Manage Applications Core Administrator Profile Values task in the Application Extensions functional area. Set your profile option at the Site level with true as the profile value.

Tips And Considerations

  • The profile option works only if your security administrator has already restricted the availability of employee data in general, by defining a security profile and assigning it to a custom job role.
  • This data restriction applies only to users defined as employees in Oracle HCM Cloud.

  • The setup doesn’t apply to UIs where users request more information about a specific workflow task, or where you select users as part of workflow configuration, for example when creating an approval group.

Role Information

You don't need a specific role to use the feature once it's set up.

Extensibility

Updated Oracle Visual Builder Studio

Here are some key things you can now do to extend your application pages using Visual Builder Studio:

  • Use polymorphic objects: You can add polymorphic objects in the layout editor. These objects help you to see which fields are defined by each discriminator sub-type. You can also add polymorphic objects in the ruleset editor. When a rule condition specifies a discriminator sub-type value, you can use that value to filter the object fields when you open the rules associated layout in the editor.

  • Display a list of values for rule condition: You can now use the condition builder in the Rule Sets editor to display a list of valid values for a field when you specify the values in the service definition.

  • Add listenable vbBeforeEnter and vbBeforeExit events: You can now add event listeners for the vbBeforeEnter and vbBeforeExit lifecycle events on an extension page.

  • Use variables defined in the component context: For application extensions that define a component context for a dynamic component, you can now use variables defined in the component context in a component rule set conditions and expressions.

The new Visual Builder Studio functionality provides you with a platform to extend your Oracle Applications Cloud extensively.

Steps to Enable

You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.

Key Resources

Validate Migration Sets While Importing to Target

You can now validate migration sets during the import process. Based on the validation results, you can choose to proceed or cancel the import after reviewing the warnings or errors displayed from the validation.

The new functionality provides customer satisfaction and enhances usability.

Steps to Enable

You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.

Key Resources

Create Page Entries to Link to VB Studio Pages

While creating or editing a page entry using the Structure work area, you can now link the page entry to a Visual Builder Studio page. You need to select the link type as VB Studio Page and specify the VB Studio flow your VB page is grouped in and the product family your VB Studio page belongs to.

Here are the fields you can specify on the Create Page Entry page of the Structure UI to link a page entry to a Visual Builder Studio page.

Create Page Entry page of the Structure UI showing fields you can specify to link a page entry to a Visual Builder Studio page

You can specify your page entries to open in VB Studio.

Steps to Enable

You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.

EPM Account Reconciliation Skill in Oracle Digital Assistant

You can now use the EPM Account Reconciliation Cloud Service (ARCS) skill to query and comment on reconciliations directly within Oracle Digital Assistant (ODA). The integrated ARCS skill can be used in Oracle Web channel.

NOTE: The ARCS skill is supported only when the EPM instance is deployed on an Oracle Cloud Infrastructure second-generation (Gen 2) cloud environment.

You can now quickly view all the pending and late reconciliations. You can streamline the reconciliation process in the ODA platform by enabling faster coordination among teams managing reconciliations.

Steps to Enable

  1. Configure authentication parameters for account reconciliation in the ODA instance.
  2. Extend the ODA and the account reconciliation skill.
  3. Configure the entities and train the extended skill to reflect your data.
  4. Replace the default skill with the extended skill and train the ODA.
  5. Integrate the ODA with Oracle Web channel.

Key Resources

Role Information

  • To set this up in ODA platform, you need a role which provides administrator access to the platform.
  • To use the skill in ODA, you need a role which has access to Account Reconciliation Cloud Service in EPM.

Simple Panel Configuration Will Be Deprecated from Release 22A Onwards

Starting from update 22A, you can no longer use the Page Composer tool to configure a simple panel and make changes to all instances of a component across pages. Instead, you should use this tool to configure individual pages. If you’ve configured a simple panel previously, the existing configurations will continue to work. But we recommend you delete such simple panel configurations and make the changes on individual pages in the application. Doing this will increase the application performance and avoid issues when your application is updated or upgraded. Make sure to note all the simple panel configurations before deleting them in a sandbox. You can configure the components at the top of individual pages again in the same sandbox.

Configuring individual pages increase performance.

Steps to Enable

You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.
