Optional Uptake of New Features (Opt In)
Oracle Cloud Applications delivers new updates every quarter. This means every three months you'll receive new functionality to help you efficiently and effectively manage your business. Some features are delivered Enabled meaning they are immediately available to end users. Other features are delivered Disabled meaning you have to take action to make available. Features delivered Disabled can be activated for end users by stepping through the following instructions using the following privileges:
- Review Applications Offering (ASM_REVIEW_APPLICATIONS_OFFERINGS_PRIV)
- Configure Oracle Fusion Applications Offering (ASM_CONFIGURE_OFFERING_PRIV)
Here’s how you opt in to new features:
- Click Navigator > My Enterprise > New Features.
- On the Features Overview page, select your offering to review new features specific to it. Or, you can leave the default selection All Enabled Offerings to review new features for all offerings.
- On the New Features tab, review the new features and check the opt-in status of the feature in the Enabled column. If a feature has already been enabled, you will see a check mark. Otherwise, you will see an icon to enable the feature.
- Click the icon in the Enabled column and complete the steps to enable the feature.
For more information and detailed instructions on opting in to new features for your offering, see Offering Configuration.
Opt In Expiration
Occasionally, features delivered Disabled via Opt In may be enabled automatically in a future update. This is known as an Opt In Expiration. If your cloud service has any Opt In Expirations in this update, you will see a related tab in this document. Click on that tab to see when the feature was originally delivered Disabled, and when the Opt In will expire, potentially automatically enabling the feature. You can also click here to see features with current Opt In Expirations across all Oracle Cloud Applications. Beyond the current update, the Financials forums on Cloud Customer Connect have details of Opt In Expirations upcoming in future updates.
Column Definitions:
Report = New or modified, Oracle-delivered, ready to run reports.
UI or Process-Based: Small Scale = These UI or process-based features are typically comprised of minor field, validation, or program changes. Therefore, the potential impact to users is minimal.
UI or Process-Based: Larger Scale* = These UI or process-based features have more complex designs. Therefore, the potential impact to users is higher.
Features Delivered Disabled = Action is needed BEFORE these features can be used by END USERS. These features are delivered disabled and you choose if and when to enable them. For example, a) new or expanded BI subject areas need to first be incorporated into reports, b) Integration is required to utilize new web services, or c) features must be assigned to user roles before they can be accessed.
Ready for Use by End Users Reports plus Small Scale UI or Process-Based new features will have minimal user impact after an update. Therefore, customer acceptance testing should focus on the Larger Scale UI or Process-Based* new features. |
Customer Must Take Action before Use by End Users Not disruptive as action is required to make these features ready to use. As you selectively choose to leverage, you set your test and roll out timing. |

Removal of Settings and Actions Drop-Down Icon from the Global Header
In the 22B release, the drop-down icon for the Settings and Actions menu won’t be available anymore in the global header. So, to open this menu, you need to click your user image or name in the global header.
This is how the drop-down icon for the Settings and Actions menu looked prior to 22B.
And here's how it looks now in 22B.
This change is made to enhance the look and feel of the application.
Steps to Enable
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.
The applications have adopted the Fusion Applications Taxonomy, the source of truth for classifying each pillar, family, and product in the portfolio.
We want to ensure that our Oracle-branded pillar, family, and product names promote Oracle's differentiation in delivering one cloud for all our customers' lines of business. By naming and organizing our products this way, our customers can understand the scope of our product line and effectively find the information they need. A well-crafted taxonomy ensures an efficient experience for the Oracle ecosystem.
For example, the browser tab for the Fusion Applications home page is renamed from Oracle Applications to Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications.

Updates to Oracle Transactional Business Intelligence and New Documentation Library
As of Release 22A, Oracle Transactional Business Intelligence (OTBI) is updated from functionality available in Release 21D or earlier. If your update is from Release 21D to 22B, this new functionality is part of the update.
What's Notable and Different in Oracle Transactional Business Intelligence
There are some important one-time considerations when you prepare for Oracle to update OTBI from Release 21D to 22B or later. For other issues related to updates, carefully review Known Issues.
-
The OTBI catalog is placed in read-only mode three days before your update from Release 21D to 22A or later. During this three-day period, you can access the catalog, but changes you make aren’t retained. This one-time activity, which is required to ensure that the catalog is migrated in a consistent state prior to 22B update, won’t be repeated for the next Oracle Applications Cloud update.
When the catalog is in read-only mode, you can’t retain:
- Changes to artifacts such as Publisher objects, analyses, and agents (including artifacts that were edited)
- Modifications to objects in the catalog (such as renaming objects or changing their permissions)
- Modifications to the catalog structure (such as adding or deleting folders)
To retain your changes after update, it's recommended you archive changed content before the update and then unarchive after the update is complete.
-
Before you move the catalog content from stage to production environments using the Archive and Unarchive actions, prepare for Oracle to update both stage and production environments to OTBI. You can’t move catalog content from a Release 22B environment to a Release 21D environment. See Can’t Move Catalog Content from a 22A Environment to a 21D Environment.
OTBI is updated from functionality available in Oracle BI Enterprise Edition 11.1.1.9 to 12c.
Steps to Enable
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.
Tips And Considerations
There's a new OTBI library, with a new set of OTBI guides for Oracle Cloud Applications. It's recommended that you refer to the library below, and not to the Oracle BI Enterprise Edition and Oracle Analytics Server Middleware libraries on Oracle Help Center.

New Groovy Scripting Usage in Flexfields Is Desupported
New usages of Groovy default values and validators in flexfields are deprecated because they won't be automatically upgraded in future releases. However, flexfields already using Groovy will continue to work. But if you want to add Groovy expression to new flexfields, you must set the Flexfield Groovy Usage Support Restricted (ORA_FND_FLEX_GROOVY_RESTRICTED) profile option to N.
Groovy scripting is desupported because it's difficult to upgrade in the future.
Steps to Enable
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.
Page Parameters List Field for Quick Actions Renamed to Task Flow Parameters
The Page Parameters List field on the Create Quick Action and Edit Quick Action pages is now renamed to Task Flow Parameters. If the page takes task flow parameters, then you can enter a semicolon-delimited string of name=value pairs (for example, "mode=#{'MY_TASK'};backMode=#{'APP'}") in the Task Flow Parameters field.
You can specify task flow parameters while configuring quick actions using this field.
Steps to Enable
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.

- Configuring and Extending Applications (available April 1, 2022)
Simple Panel Configuration Is Desupported
You can no longer use the Page Composer tool to configure a simple panel and make changes to all instances of a UI component across pages. Instead, you should use this tool to configure individual pages. If you’ve configured a simple panel previously in your sandbox, those configurations will continue to work. But we recommend you to delete such configurations, make the changes on individual pages, and then publish your sandbox. Doing this will improve the application's performance and avoid issues when your application is updated or upgraded.
NOTE: Make sure you note all the simple panel configurations in your sandbox before deleting them so that you can configure the components at individual page levels again in the same sandbox.
Here are some FAQs to help you find simple panel configurations and delete them, if required.
How do I know if an active sandbox has simple panel configurations?
Before publishing an active sandbox, you can verify if the sandbox has simple panel configurations.
- Click Navigator > Configuration > Sandboxes.
- Identify the active sandbox in which configurations are done.
- On the Sandbox Details page, verify the list of artifacts. If you see /oracle/apps/fnd/applcore/patterns/ui/components/SimplePanel.jspx listed in the artifacts, don’t publish the sandbox. Instead, delete the configuration and then publish the sandbox, if required.
How can I find out if my environment has any simple panel configurations that were already published?
Follow these steps:
- Click your user image or name in the global header, and on the Settings and Actions menu, select Manage Configurations.
- On the Manage Configurations dialog box, use the Search field to search for the /oracle/apps/fnd/applcore/patterns/ui/components/SimplePanel.jspx document.
How do I delete simple panel configurations that were already published?
Follow these steps:
- In the Setup and Maintenance work area, go to the Manage Administrator Profile Values task in the Application Extensions functional area.
- Search for the Manual Updates to Metadata Allowed (FND_ALLOW_MANUAL_METADATA_UPDATES) profile option.
- In the FND_ALLOW_MANUAL_METADATA_UPDATES: Profile Values section, set the profile value to Yes.
- Click Save and Close.
- Click Done.
- Sign out of the application and sign back in.
- Create and activate a sandbox that has the Page Composer tool in it. Make sure the context layer of your sandbox is supported by the page you want to edit. Otherwise, you won’t be able to edit the page.
- Go to the home page.
- Click your user image or name in the global header, and on the Settings and Actions menu, select Manage Configurations.
- On the Manage Configurations dialog box, use the Search field to search for the /oracle/apps/fnd/applcore/patterns/ui/components/SimplePanel.jspx document.
- If the document is listed at the Site level, click the Delete link to delete the simple panel configurations.
- After verifying your changes, publish the sandbox to make your changes available to all users.
NOTE: After publishing your sandbox, reset the Manual Updates to Metadata Allowed (FND_ALLOW_MANUAL_METADATA_UPDATES) profile option to No.
Configuring individual pages increase performance.

Compare Application Composer Changes Between Environments
Compare Application Composer configuration changes between two environments during the migration process. You can check for configuration differences so that you can more easily troubleshoot issues that are occurring in one environment, but not in another.
This feature lets you:
- Do a proactive audit before starting a CSM Migration Import process
- Self-troubleshoot issues that occur on one environment but not on another environment
Steps to Enable
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.
Tips And Considerations
On the Migration UI, before you perform an import, you can click on the gear icon to review the Source, Destination, and Delta configuration (comparison) reports.

IMPORTANT Actions and Considerations
DEPRECATION OF OLDER DIGITAL ASSISTANT SKILL VERSIONS
The Digital Assistant and its skills continuously receive updates as they get smarter and provide enhanced conversational experiences. In every release, check for updated versions in the Skill Store. Versions stop working when the underlying platform version becomes inactive, at the longest 2 years after release.
The Expenses skill built using Oracle Digital Assistant platform version 20.08 is deprecated. You can continue using your skill in platform version 20.08. However, no updates or bug fixes for this specific version of the skill will be provided. We encourage you to move to the latest version of the Expenses skill at the earliest opportunity.
The 20.08 platform version of the Expenses skill will be removed from the Skill Store in six months.
