Feature Summary

Column Definitions:

Report = New or modified, Oracle-delivered, ready to run reports.

UI or Process-Based: Small Scale = These UI or process-based features are typically comprised of minor field, validation, or program changes. Therefore, the potential impact to users is minimal.

UI or Process-Based: Larger Scale* = These UI or process-based features have more complex designs. Therefore, the potential impact to users is higher.

Features Delivered Disabled = Action is needed BEFORE these features can be used by END USERS. These features are delivered disabled and you choose if and when to enable them. For example, a) new or expanded BI subject areas need to first be incorporated into reports, b) Integration is required to utilize new web services, or c) features must be assigned to user roles before they can be accessed.

Ready for Use by End Users
(Feature Delivered Enabled)

Reports plus Small Scale UI or Process-Based new features will have minimal user impact after an update. Therefore, customer acceptance testing should focus on the Larger Scale UI or Process-Based* new features.

Customer Must Take Action before Use by End Users
(Feature Delivered Disabled)

Not disruptive as action is required to make these features ready to use. As you selectively choose to leverage, you set your test and roll out timing.

Extensibility

HCM Digital Assistant - Chat Widget Configuration

Use HCM Experience Design Studio to configure these features of the Oracle Digital Assistant (ODA) chat widget.

Local, Global, and Card Action Buttons

You can specify whether the buttons on local, global, and card actions should be displayed vertically or horizontally.

  • Local action buttons are primary buttons in a chatbot response and the user has to click one of them to proceed further.
  • Global action buttons are contextual to a chatbot response and the user can choose to click or skip them.
  • Card action buttons are displayed within a response card and the user has to click one of them to proceed further. A response card usually has a title, description, and an action button.

End Conversation

You can enable the user to end a chat conversation, clear the conversation history, and reset the chat session. When this option is enabled, the user sees a Close button on the chat widget. If it isn't enabled, they see a Minimize button.

Display Timestamps

You can display the timestamp on each conversation as absolute or relative. While absolute timestamps display the exact time of the conversation, relative timestamps display a phrase such as '5 seconds ago' or '3 minutes ago'.

To configure these options, follow these steps:

  1. Log on to Fusion Applications.
  2. Go to My Client Groups > HCM Experience Design Studio.
  3. On the left menu, select Digital Assistant Configuration.
  4. From the Digital Assistant list, select the digital assistant that you want to configure.
  5. Select the End conversation option to allow the user to end the chat conversation and reset the chat session.
  6. Select the required option from the Time Stamp list.
  7. In the Layout section, select the desired display option from the Display Local Actions, Display Card Actions, and Display Global Actions lists.
  8. Click Save and Close.

Leverage the user-friendly interface of HCM Experience Design Studio to configure the ODA chat widget.

Steps to Enable

You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.

Optional Uptake of New Features (Opt In)

Oracle Cloud Applications delivers new updates every quarter. This means every three months you'll receive new functionality to help you efficiently and effectively manage your business. Some features are delivered Enabled meaning they are immediately available to end users. Other features are delivered Disabled meaning you have to take action to make available. Features delivered Disabled can be activated for end users by stepping through the following instructions using the following privileges:

  • Review Applications Offering (ASM_REVIEW_APPLICATIONS_OFFERINGS_PRIV)
  • Configure Oracle Fusion Applications Offering (ASM_CONFIGURE_OFFERING_PRIV)

Here’s how you opt in to new features:

  1. Click Navigator > My Enterprise > New Features.
  2. On the Features Overview page, select your offering to review new features specific to it. Or, you can leave the default selection All Enabled Offerings to review new features for all offerings.
  3. On the New Features tab, review the new features and check the opt-in status of the feature in the Enabled column. If a feature has already been enabled, you will see a check mark. Otherwise, you will see an icon to enable the feature.
  4. Click the icon in the Enabled column and complete the steps to enable the feature.

For more information and detailed instructions on opting in to new features for your offering, see Offering Configuration.

Opt In Expiration

Occasionally, features delivered Disabled via Opt In may be enabled automatically in a future update. This is known as an Opt In Expiration. If your cloud service has any Opt In Expirations in this update, you will see a related tab in this document. Click on that tab to see when the feature was originally delivered Disabled, and when the Opt In will expire, potentially automatically enabling the feature. You can also click here to see features with current Opt In Expirations across all Oracle Cloud Applications. Beyond the current update, the Financials forums on Cloud Customer Connect have details of Opt In Expirations upcoming in future updates.

Notice About Obsolete Tables in Oracle Fusion Applications

Oracle Fusion Applications tables that were obsoleted in the past releases will no longer be available starting the next quarterly release. Read this document to identify the impacted tables and the release in which they were obsoleted so that you can plan your development tasks accordingly.

You can use this information to exclude obsolete tables from your development environment and prevent any broken links or missing references to them.

Steps to Enable

You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.

Configure Page Entries to Open VB Studio Pages in the VB App UI

While creating or editing a page entry using the Structure work area, you can now link the page entry to open VB Studio pages in the VB App UI. You need to select the link type as VB Studio Page and specify the details for the VB App UI and VB Page Name fields.

You can use these fields to configure page entry links to open in the VB App UI.

Steps to Enable

You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.

Key Resources

Updated Oracle Visual Builder Studio

Here are some key things you can now do to extend your application pages using Visual Builder Studio:

  • Provision your VB Studio instance in an Oracle Cloud account. By default, a VB Studio instance is provisioned with your first Oracle Cloud Applications TEST instance that your organization's members can use to develop application extensions. If you wish to use VB Studio with a different Oracle Cloud Applications TEST or DEV instance, ask your help desk to log a service request so that we can delete the VB Studio instance associated with your current *-TEST instance, create a new one, and associate this new one to your preferred TEST or DEV instance.
  • Use the new variants of dynamic components based on JET’s Virtual DOM (VDOM) architecture that’s available in the Components palette. Except for the dynamic table, these components are marked asoj-dyn and are now preferred over the older oj-dynamic variants for applications. VDOM is a new development path that uses the Preact library for building web components with JET. See VDOM architecture in JET documentation.
  • By default, the categories in the Components palette are reordered and collapsed. To control this setting, you can use the new Expand All and Collapse All options in the palette menu. For visual apps, see The Components Palette. For App UI extensions, see The Components Palette.
  • You can use these improved capabilities in fragments:
    • Find where the fragment is consumed and readily navigate to the page using the new Usages property in the fragment's Properties pane.
    • Go directly to a fragment from the canvas using the new fragment Edit icon on the page canvas. The Go to fragment link is still available on the fragment's Properties pane.
    • Use fragment in the right context and add custom icons using the settings available in a fragment's Properties pane as well as its Settings editor.

For visual apps, see Create and Add a Fragment to a Page. For App UI extensions, see Create and Add a Fragment to a Page.

The new Visual Builder Studio functionality provides you with a platform to extend your Oracle Applications Cloud extensively.

Steps to Enable

You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.

Reporting and Analytics

Deprecated and New BI View Objects in Oracle BI Cloud Connector

Business Intelligence View Objects (BIVOs) that are deprecated are no longer available for extraction using BI Cloud Connector (BICC).

If you use BICC to extract data from Oracle Fusion Applications Cloud, review the Deprecated and New BI View Objects spreadsheets to identify deprecated, inactive, and new BIVOs so that you can revise your BICC tasks to omit deprecated BIVOs and include new ones as appropriate.

You can use this information to omit deprecated and inactive BIVOs from your BICC tasks and add new ones as appropriate.

Steps to Enable

You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.

Key Resources

User Experience

Updated Oracle ADF Desktop Integration Add-In

You can now download the latest version of the Oracle ADF Desktop Integration add-in, version 5.1.1.24695. Here are some key things you get with this version:

  • The add-in installer now uses Microsoft WebView2 as the preferred embedded web browser for all workbooks. See Embedded Browsers.
  • The AllowSingleSignOnUsingOSPrimaryAccount option is now enabled for WebView2 browser. This option may help you with Azure Active Directory Single Sign-On (SSO).
  • The add-in is now also available in the Vietnamese language.
  • A privacy statement is now added to the add-in installer.

The new version of the Excel add-in addresses known issues.

Steps to Enable

You need to install the new add-in on each desktop. For more information, see How to install the ADF Desktop Integration Add-in for Excel (2681794.1) on My Oracle Support.

Key Resources

Greek Language is Added to the Language Pack on Your Application

The Greek language is now added to the list of supported languages in the language pack. So, if activated, this language will appear as a language option on the General Preferences section of the Set Preferences work area.

Various UI artifacts, such as labels, predefined data, messages, and BI catalog data are displayed in Greek when the application is run in the Greek language.

Steps to Enable

You must install the language packs on your environment,  and once installed, the language is available for users to select and use. If the language has been installed in your environment, you don't need to do anything else to enable the language.

Key Resources

Changes in the Hover Text of the User Image or Name Icon in the Global Header

In the 22D release, the hover text for the user image or name icon on the global header is updated to Settings and Actions.

This is how the hover text looked prior to 22D.

And here’s how it looks now in 22D.

This change helps users easily access the Settings and Actions menu.

Steps to Enable

You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.

IMPORTANT Actions and Considerations

NEW ODA PLATFORM FEATURES AND THEIR AVAILABILITY in SAAS SKILLS

When new features are added to the Oracle Digital Assistant (ODA) platform, product development needs to uptake them to add to the certified skill platform version. For example, the installed FADigitalAssistant 22.07.61 version is certified for the new features added in the 22.02 platform version.

  • The features added in the 22.02 platform version won't be available in the FADigitalAssistant 22.04.60 version certified for the 21.12 platform version. That’s because the 21.12 platform version is lower than 22.02, and isn't backward compatible. You must upgrade to the latest FADA skill version and incorporate the new features into the skills while upgrading. For more information, see Upgrade Digital Assistant and Add a Skill to a Digital Assistant.
  • See this table for a list of new features available in a specific ODA platform version and the FADA skill version that has incorporated these features.
Certified ODA Skill Platform Version New Feature Skills Supporting New Feature Certified FADA Skill Release Version

    22.02

    Value Agnostic Intent Entities

This feature is available in all the skills, such as Expenses, HcmV2, Project Time Entry, Project Management, and CX Sales. A skill can enable or disable this feature based on the required intent and entity combination.

    22.07.61

NOTE: In the FADA version number, the first four digits correspond to the application release and the last two digits show the FADigitalAssistant version within the release. For example, in the 22.07.48 version, 22 corresponds to the year 2022, and 07 corresponds to the quarterly release (01 = A, 04 = B, 07 = C, 10 = D) of the application version. The last two digits, 48, show the FADigitalAssistant version within the 22.07 release. The platform version is displayed in a four-digit format, the first two digits show the year, and the next two digits show the month. For example, in the 22.02 platform version, 22 corresponds to the year 2022, and 02 corresponds to February.

DEPRECATION OF OLDER DIGITAL ASSISTANT SKILL VERSIONS

The Digital Assistant and its skills continuously receive updates as they get smarter and provide enhanced conversational experiences. In every release, check for updated versions in the Skill Store. Versions stop working when the underlying platform version becomes inactive, at the longest 2 years after release.

The Expenses skill built using Oracle Digital Assistant platform version 20.08 is deprecated and may become obsolete soon. You can continue using your skill in platform version 20.08. However, no updates or bug fixes for this specific version of the skill will be provided. We encourage you to move to the latest version of the Expenses skill at the earliest opportunity.
