Optional Uptake of New Features (Opt In)
Oracle Cloud Applications delivers new updates every quarter. This means every three months you'll receive new functionality to help you efficiently and effectively manage your business. Some features are delivered Enabled meaning they are immediately available to end users. Other features are delivered Disabled meaning you have to take action to make available. Features delivered Disabled can be activated for end users by stepping through the following instructions using the following privileges:
- Review Applications Offering (ASM_REVIEW_APPLICATIONS_OFFERINGS_PRIV)
- Configure Oracle Fusion Applications Offering (ASM_CONFIGURE_OFFERING_PRIV)
Here’s how you opt in to new features:
- Click Navigator > My Enterprise > New Features.
- On the Features Overview page, select your offering to review new features specific to it. Or, you can leave the default selection All Enabled Offerings to review new features for all offerings.
- On the New Features tab, review the new features and check the opt-in status of the feature in the Enabled column. If a feature has already been enabled, you will see a check mark. Otherwise, you will see an icon to enable the feature.
- Click the icon in the Enabled column and complete the steps to enable the feature.
For more information and detailed instructions on opting in to new features for your offering, see Configure Offerings.
Opt In Expiration
Occasionally, features delivered Disabled via Opt In may be enabled automatically in a future update. This is known as an Opt In Expiration. If your cloud service has any Opt In Expirations in this update, you will see a related tab in this document. Click on that tab to see when the feature was originally delivered Disabled, and when the Opt In will expire, potentially automatically enabling the feature. You can also click here to see features with current Opt In Expirations across all Oracle Cloud Applications. Beyond the current update, the Financials forums on Cloud Customer Connect have details of Opt In Expirations upcoming in future updates.
Column Definitions:
Report = New or modified, Oracle-delivered, ready to run reports.
UI or Process-Based: Small Scale = These UI or process-based features are typically comprised of minor field, validation, or program changes. Therefore, the potential impact to users is minimal.
UI or Process-Based: Larger Scale* = These UI or process-based features have more complex designs. Therefore, the potential impact to users is higher.
Features Delivered Disabled = Action is needed BEFORE these features can be used by END USERS. These features are delivered disabled and you choose if and when to enable them. For example, a) new or expanded BI subject areas need to first be incorporated into reports, b) Integration is required to utilize new web services, or c) features must be assigned to user roles before they can be accessed.
Ready for Use by End Users Reports plus Small Scale UI or Process-Based new features will have minimal user impact after an update. Therefore, customer acceptance testing should focus on the Larger Scale UI or Process-Based* new features. |
Customer Must Take Action before Use by End Users Not disruptive as action is required to make these features ready to use. As you selectively choose to leverage, you set your test and roll out timing. |

Profile Option to Control CKEditor Version for Rich Text Editor Component
Use the CKEditor Version for Rich Text Editor Component (ORACLE.ADF.VIEW.RICH.RTE_LAYOUT) profile option to specify the CKEditor version the rich text editor component should use, for example, CKEditor 4 or CKEditor 5. The default value for this profile option is CKEditor 5. You can find this profile option in the Manage Administrator Profile Values task in the Setup and Maintenance work area.
NOTE: This profile option isn't used by Oracle Fusion Service.
This profile option helps you specify the CKEditor version you want to use.
Steps to Enable
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.
Deprecation of Oracle Data Integrator in the Audit UI
The usage of Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) is no longer supported in the Audit work area.
While generating an audit report, don't select ODI in the search parameters, because ODI won't be considered.
Steps to Enable
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.
Profile Option to Set the Maximum Number of Records That Can Be Exported to Excel from the Audit Reports Work Area
To restrict the number of records that can be exported to Excel from an audit report, you can create a new profile option named FND_AUDIT_EXPORT_ENTITY_LIMIT and specify its value. You can use the Manage Profile Options task in the Setup and Maintenance work area to create this profile option.
In the Audit Reports work area, users can enter search parameters and export the data to excel. If the number of records processed by the search parameters exceeds the set limit, a message is displayed requesting the users to narrow down the search criteria. The maximum limit you can specify for the FND_AUDIT_EXPORT_ENTITY_LIMIT profile option is 10000 per table. This maximum limit is set as the default value for the profile option.
The actual rows returned might have more records, because a single transaction can update multiple tables.
Steps to Enable
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.

Remove Prefix from Subject Lines and Titles in Workflow Notifications
By default, email and in-app notifications sent out as part of a workflow or approval process have a prefix in the subject line or title, for example Action Required. If you have a specific requirement, you can choose to exclude that prefix in the notifications that are sent.
For a particular workflow task, you can set this up for specific combinations of task statuses and recipients. For example, you can exclude the prefix when the task status is Assigned and notifications are sent to the assignees. Your setup won't apply to FYI notifications, which will always show the prefix.
To remove the prefix from the notification subject line or title:
- In the Setup and Maintenance work area, go to the Manage Task Configurations task in the Application Extensions functional area. Or, depending on your offering, you might use a different functional area or another approval setup task.
- In BPM Worklist, on the Task Configuration tab, search for the workflow task in the Tasks to be configured pane.
- Select the task from the search results and click the Edit task icon in the toolbar.
- Click the Notifications subtab.
- For any of the task status and recipient combinations, select the Exclude Notification Prefix check box.
Removing the prefix can help grab the readers' attention with a more direct notification subject line or title, say for notifications advertising special offers. For example, Action Required: Early Payment Offer - Accelerate Payments for up to USD 1000 becomes Early Payment Offer - Accelerate Payments for up to USD 1000 after the prefix is removed.
Steps to Enable
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.
Tips And Considerations
You should use this feature only if you have a very specific requirement to do so. Otherwise, leave the prefix displayed in the notifications.
Key Resources
- Remove Prefix from Subject Lines and Titles in Workflow Notifications (available April 7, 2023)
Access Requirements
- To manage task configurations and exclude the prefix, you need a custom role that includes the BPM Workflow System Admin Role (BPMWorkflowAdmin).
Enhancements to Transaction Console Diagnostic Log
The Transaction Console diagnostic log now includes two new sections you can enable and make use of.
- Task Level Configuration
- Transaction History
You can view these sections when you download the diagnostic log from any pending or error transaction details page in the Transaction Console.
Task Level Configuration
This section lists details of task configuration in BPM Worklist for the process type of the selected transaction. The details shown in this section are for the current configuration of the task, not from the time the transaction was initiated.
Transaction History
This section lists all the approval stages a transaction has passed through based on the approval rule configuration.
When diagnosing an issue, users can quickly get a snapshot of the task configuration and approval history in one place.
Steps to Enable
To create the profile option that controls whether these sections are in the log:
-
In the Setup and Maintenance work area, go to the Manage Applications Core Profile Options task in the Application Extensions functional area for your offering.
-
On the Manage Applications Core Profile Options page, click the New icon.
-
On the Create Profile Option page, enter HRC_TXN_TAC_DISABLE_EXTN_LOG as the profile option code.
-
Enter a display name that you can easily remember to help you find the profile option later, for example Disable Diagnostic Log.
-
From the Application list, select Common Work Setup.
-
From the Module list, select Application Common.
-
Click Save and Close.
-
On the Manage Profile Options page, select the Enabled and Updatable check boxes for the Site level.
-
Click Save.
To set the profile option value so the sections are included:
-
In the Setup and Maintenance work area, go to the Manage Applications Core Administrator Profile Values task in the Application Extensions functional area for your offering.
-
Search for the profile option code HRC_TXN_TAC_DISABLE_EXTN_LOG.
-
In the Profile Values section, set the Site to False.
Tips And Considerations
By default, the Task Level Configuration and Transaction History sections are included in the log. You can disable them, for example to improve performance, using the HRC_TXN_TAC_DISABLE_EXTN_LOG and HRC_TXN_TAC_DISABLE_RULE_AUDIT_TRAIL profile options.
-
If the HRC_TXN_TAC_DISABLE_EXTN_LOG profile option is created and is set to true, the Task Level Configuration and Transaction History sections isn’t included in the diagnostic log.
-
If the HRC_TXN_TAC_DISABLE_RULE_AUDIT_TRAIL profile option, which disables the audit trail segment along with rule details, is created and is set to true, the Task Level Configuration section isn’t included in the diagnostic log. If the profile option isn’t created or created and set to false then the Task Level Configuration section is omitted and only the Transaction History section is included.

Worklist: Notifications and Approvals Work Area Includes New Task Filter
In the Worklist: Notifications and Approvals Work Area, a drop-down list has been added to filter tasks by when they were created. This additional filter applies only to the default My Tasks view, showing tasks created in the last seven days by default. The filter's options include 7, 14, or 30 days. Select All to display a complete list of tasks for you and your groups. The filter drop-down is also available in BPM Worklist if the My Tasks view and Me & My Groups filter are selected, which is the default.
Response time is improved by having a filtered list of tasks when the work area opens.
Steps to Enable
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.
Tips And Considerations
- Because the new task filter applies only to the default My Tasks view, if you select a different view in the work area, for example, Initiated Tasks, it won't be available.
-
If you don't see this new filter in 23B, you'll see it in 23C.

Updated Oracle Visual Builder Studio
Here are some key things you can now do to extend your application pages using Visual Builder Studio:
- Service connection enhancements
Use a new Type viewer to see the type structure for an Endpoint's request or response. This means that you no longer have to create a web app and use a query string or type from the Endpoints tab in the Page Designer to see the type structure. For visual apps, see Create a Service Connection from an Endpoint. For extensions, see Create a Service Connection from an Endpoint.
- Audit warning for IP-based service URLs
An IP address audit warning is shown for service connections that use IP-based addresses in URLs, as a reminder to use DNS-based URLs instead. For visual apps, see Create a Service Connection from an Endpoint. For extensions, see Create a Service Connection from an Endpoint.
- Option to change page templates
If you create pages from templates, either Redwood template patterns or fragments, you can now change the page's content at the click of a new Select Page Template button. This option allows you to remove everything from the page, including associated files, but keep the same page name. For visual apps, see Change Page Templates. For extensions, see Change Page Templates.
NOTE: To work with Redwood template patterns, the Redwood components associated with your application must be on Update 23.01 or later. Template patterns are not available in Update 22.10 or earlier.
- Advanced category in the Components palette
For discoverability reasons, you can now use all JET components in the Components palette, with those that don't have design-time properties showing under a new Advanced category. Components in the Advanced category typically require you to manually code different aspects of their functionality. For visual apps, see The Components Palette. For extensions, see The Components Palette.
- Abort HTTP calls
You can now use our documentation to cancel long-running HTTP calls using AbortController, a browser-based interface that lets you abort a web request. AbortController was an experimental feature previously but is now supported by all browsers. For visual apps, see Abort Pending REST Calls. For extensions, see Abort Pending REST Calls.
- Support for configuring customizers for constants
When developing an App UI, you can now customize a constant so that users extending the page have a more suitable component to edit the constant's value in the Page Designer's Properties pane. Previously, the Properties pane always used text field components for editing the values of constants. See Configure How a Constant is Customized in the Properties Pane.
- OAuth user assertion authentication for service connections
For service connections in an extension, you can now use OAuth user assertion authentication as another mechanism for identity propagation. See How Does Authentication with Identity Propagation Work? For instructions on how to configure your app to use this form of authentication, see Connect to Oracle Cloud Service REST APIs Using Identity Propagation.
- Environment's sandbox for a new workspace
When you use Edit Page in Visual Builder to change Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications pages and you're accessing a workspace for the first time (that is, one was created but never opened), your workspace is automatically set to your environment's sandbox if one isn't associated with your workspace. See What's the Extension Lifecycle?
The new Visual Builder Studio functionality provides you with a platform to extend your Fusion Applications extensively.
Steps to Enable
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.

IMPORTANT Actions and Considerations
NEW ODA PLATFORM FEATURES AND THEIR AVAILABILITY in SAAS SKILLS
When new features are added to the Oracle Digital Assistant (ODA) platform, product development needs to uptake them to add to the certified skill platform version. For example, the installed FADigitalAssistant 22.07.61 version is certified for the new features added in the 22.02 platform version.
- The features added in the 22.02 platform version won't be available in the FADigitalAssistant 22.04.60 version certified for the 21.12 platform version. That’s because the 21.12 platform version is lower than 22.02, and isn't backward compatible. You must upgrade to the latest FADA skill version and incorporate the new features into the skills while upgrading. For more information, see Upgrade Digital Assistant and Add a Skill to a Digital Assistant.
- See this table for the latest ODA skill platform version and the corresponding FADA skill release version.
Certified ODA Skill Platform Version New Feature Skills Supporting New Feature Certified FADA Skill Release Version 22.12 None N/A
23.04.19
NOTE: In the FADA version number, the first four digits correspond to the application release and the last two digits show the FADigitalAssistant version within the release. For example, in the 22.07.48 version, 22 corresponds to the year 2022, and 07 corresponds to the quarterly release (01 = A, 04 = B, 07 = C, 10 = D) of the application version. The last two digits, 48, show the FADigitalAssistant version within the 22.07 release. The platform version is displayed in a four-digit format, the first two digits show the year, and the next two digits show the month. For example, in the 22.02 platform version, 22 corresponds to the year 2022, and 02 corresponds to February.
DEPRECATION OF OLDER DIGITAL ASSISTANT SKILL VERSIONS
The Digital Assistant and its skills continuously receive updates as they get smarter and provide enhanced conversational experiences. In every release, check for updated versions in the Skill Store. Versions stop working when the underlying platform version becomes inactive, at the longest 2 years after release.
The Expenses skill built using Oracle Digital Assistant platform version 20.08 is deprecated and may become obsolete soon. You can continue using your skill in platform version 20.08. However, no updates or bug fixes for this specific version of the skill will be provided. We encourage you to move to the latest version of the Expenses skill at the earliest opportunity.
- For more information on the lifecycle phases of skill versions, see Lifecycle Phases of Platform Versions.
- For more information on recently-added features and enhancements in the different versions of the ODA platform, see What's New in ODA.
PUBLISHER TO AUTOMATICALLY PURGE THE TRANSIENT DATA OF JOBS COMPLETED MORE THAN 365 DAYS AGO TO IMPROVE SYSTEM PERFORMANCE
In 23C, Publisher will automatically delete transient data for reports from scheduled jobs older than 365 days. Once the report output has been deleted, it can’t be restored.
If you need to retain report output beyond the system retention period, you can download the report output. See View Job History for a Specific Report, View Details of a Job History, Download Data from a Report Job, and Send an Output to a New Destination for instructions on how to download reports or deliver report outputs outside the Oracle Analytics Publisher application.
OPEN-SOURCE FONTS TO REPLACE LICENSED MONOTYPE FONTS IN ORACLE TRANSACTIONAL BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE
In 24A, open-source fonts will replace the Monotype fonts currently available in Oracle Transactional Business Intelligence. You can use the open-source fonts available in the current release with your existing reports and edit the layouts as appropriate.
For details on this font replacement, see Open-Source Fonts to Replace Licensed Monotype Fonts.
