Optional Uptake of New Features (Opt In)
Oracle Cloud Applications delivers new updates every quarter. This means every three months you'll receive new functionality to help you efficiently and effectively manage your business. Some features are delivered Enabled meaning they are immediately available to end users. Other features are delivered Disabled meaning you have to take action to make available. Features delivered Disabled can be activated for end users by stepping through the following instructions using the following privileges:
- Review Applications Offering (ASM_REVIEW_APPLICATIONS_OFFERINGS_PRIV)
- Configure Oracle Fusion Applications Offering (ASM_CONFIGURE_OFFERING_PRIV)
Here’s how you opt in to new features:
- Click Navigator > My Enterprise > New Features.
- On the Features Overview page, select your offering to review new features specific to it. Or, you can leave the default selection All Enabled Offerings to review new features for all offerings.
- On the New Features tab, review the new features and check the opt-in status of the feature in the Enabled column. If a feature has already been enabled, you will see a check mark. Otherwise, you will see an icon to enable the feature.
- Click the icon in the Enabled column and complete the steps to enable the feature.
For more information and detailed instructions on opting in to new features for your offering, see Configure Offerings.
Opt In Expiration
Occasionally, features delivered Disabled via Opt In may be enabled automatically in a future update. This is known as an Opt In Expiration. If your cloud service has any Opt In Expirations in this update, you will see a related tab in this document. Click on that tab to see when the feature was originally delivered Disabled, and when the Opt In will expire, potentially automatically enabling the feature. You can also click here to see features with current Opt In Expirations across all Oracle Cloud Applications. Beyond the current update, the Financials forums on Cloud Customer Connect have details of Opt In Expirations upcoming in future updates.
Feature Summary
Column Definitions:
Report = New or modified, Oracle-delivered, ready to run reports.
UI or Process-Based: Small Scale = These UI or process-based features are typically comprised of minor field, validation, or program changes. Therefore, the potential impact to users is minimal.
UI or Process-Based: Larger Scale* = These UI or process-based features have more complex designs. Therefore, the potential impact to users is higher.
Features Delivered Disabled = Action is needed BEFORE these features can be used by END USERS. These features are delivered disabled and you choose if and when to enable them. For example, a) new or expanded BI subject areas need to first be incorporated into reports, b) Integration is required to utilize new web services, or c) features must be assigned to user roles before they can be accessed.
Ready for Use by End Users Reports plus Small Scale UI or Process-Based new features will have minimal user impact after an update. Therefore, customer acceptance testing should focus on the Larger Scale UI or Process-Based* new features. |
Customer Must Take Action before Use by End Users Not disruptive as action is required to make these features ready to use. As you selectively choose to leverage, you set your test and roll out timing. |

Key Resources
Updated Oracle ADF Desktop Integration Add-In
You can now download the latest version of the Oracle ADF Desktop Integration add-in, version 5.1.4.26262.
Here are some key things you get with this version:
- The new digital certificate.
- Reduced number of toggling screen updates during RowDownSync component action, which improves performance of some dialog boxes.
- Improved diagnostic logging.
- Updated translations.
- The new version for ADFdi client health check, version 1.8.3.
NOTE: In a future release of Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications, the Oracle ADF Desktop Integration Excel add-in installer will check for and require the WebView2 Runtime as a prerequisite. You may already have WebView2 installed, especially if you use Excel from Microsoft 365 Apps (Office 365). If you don’t have WebView2 installed currently, you’re encouraged to evaluate and install WebView2 as soon as possible. For more information, see C Embedded Browsers.
Steps to Enable
You need to install the new add-in on each desktop. For more information, see How to install the ADF Desktop Integration Add-in for Excel (2681794.1) on My Oracle Support.
Approvals and Notifications
Position Hierarchy Routing Delegates to Other Users Based on Vacation Rules
When users go on vacation, they can define vacation rules so that when they’re out of office, tasks can be reassigned, delegated, or have additional assignments. If you’re using a Position list builder to route workflow tasks, when a user with a position that’s been assigned a task has an active vacation rule, the rule takes effect as long as there are five or less users in that position. Tasks assigned to a position can’t be reassigned or delegated, so the user defined in the vacation rule is assigned the task in addition to the other users in that position.
Position-based assignments are added according to vacation rules.
Steps to Enable
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.
Tips And Considerations
This feature is specific to vacation rules, and may not work in other contexts. For example, using the Transaction Console work area to reassign tasks based on the Position list builder isn't supported.

Deprecated and New BI View Objects in Oracle BI Cloud Connector
Business Intelligence View Objects (BIVOs) that are deprecated are no longer available for extraction using BI Cloud Connector (BICC).
If you use BICC to extract data from Oracle Fusion Applications Cloud, review the Deprecated and New BI View Objects spreadsheets to identify deprecated, inactive, and new BIVOs so that you can revise your BICC tasks to omit deprecated BIVOs and include new ones as appropriate.
You can use this information to omit deprecated and inactive BIVOs from your BICC tasks and add new ones as appropriate.
Steps to Enable

Extensibility
Updated Oracle Visual Builder Studio
Here are some key things you can now do to extend your application pages using Visual Builder Studio:
- Use the Simplified access for Oracle Fusion Cloud HCM pages
Users extending applications in the Oracle HCM pages can now use a new Express mode when they access pages in the Visual Builder (VB) Studio. Express mode is a slimmed-down VB Studio experience for functional administrators who use business rules to determine the logic governing runtime behavior. A toggle switch in the Designer's header provides easy access to Advanced mode, which provides the full suite of Designer functions.
For more information on working with business rules in Express mode, see What Can You Do with Oracle Visual Builder Studio in Express Mode. Advanced users can see Control Your Display with Business Rules.
- Add slots to a fragment where users can drop in their own content
- Use the new service backend enhancement
If you're looking to create a new service connection by providing a specification document or an endpoint URL, you now need an existing backend to create the service connection. If a backend doesn't exist, you're prompted to create one as part of the Create Service Connection workflow. With this update, all new action chains including those created by Quick Starts defaults to JavaScript though you can still create JSON action chains. Existing JSON action chains continue to work as before.
With this update, all new service connections require a backend. Making backends mandatory simplifies the task of managing server connection attributes, especially credentials, across environments. Service connections created previously without a backend will continue to work, and you can change their configuration settings.
- Specify your own service name for easier identification
New service connections no longer include a default name. You can now specify your own service name for easier identification.
For visual applications, see Create a Service Connection from the Catalog, Create a Service Connection from a Service Specification, and Create a Service Connection from an Endpoint. For extensions, see Create a Service Connection from the Catalog, Create a Service Connection from a Service Specification, and Create a Service Connection from an Endpoint.
-
Use the enhanced payload for the vbBeforeExit event
The vbBeforeExit event, which is triggered before navigating away from a page, now provides a new payload format when navigation is triggered by the browser's back or forward button. For more information, see Lifecycle (Page and Flow) Events.
- Use the improved usability in the Action Chains editor
- List view for Actions palette: The Actions palette in the Action Chains editor now has a new List view, in addition to the default Grid view, allowing you to view available actions alphabetically in each category. Customizing the view saves your palette preferences separately for each action chain. For visual applications, see About the Action Chain Editor. For extensions, see About the Action Chain Editor.
-
Surround With options: When working with an action in Diagram mode, you can now use the Surround With options in an action's right-click menu to wrap the action in an If or Try-Catch action. For visual applications, see Design Editor. For extensions, see Design Editor.
-
Code insights: When working with an action in Code mode, you can now use Code Insight to quickly reference scoped artifacts and local variables. Simply enter $ to bring up the insights pop-up menu, then make your auto-fill selection. For visual applications, see Code Editor. For extensions, see Code Editor.
-
Undo and redo multiple actions in the Designer in one shot
When working in the Designer, you can now undo and redo multiple actions in one shot. Previously, you could undo and redo only your most recent change. For visual applications, see Tour the Designer. For extensions, see What Is the Designer.
- Use the enhanced application auditing
Made several performance improvements to enhance application auditing. As a part of this, a new Opened Artifacts setting audits only artifacts that are currently open. To audit the entire application, change this setting to All Artifacts. For visual applications, see Audit Application Code. For extensions, see Debug and Audit Your Code.
The new Visual Builder Studio functionality provides you with a platform to extend your Fusion Applications extensively.

IMPORTANT Actions and Considerations
NEW ODA PLATFORM FEATURES AND THEIR AVAILABILITY in SAAS SKILLS
When new features are added to the Oracle Digital Assistant (ODA) platform, product development needs to uptake them to add to the certified skill platform version. For example, the installed FADigitalAssistant 22.07.61 version is certified for the new features added in the 22.02 platform version.
- The features added in the 22.02 platform version won't be available in the FADigitalAssistant 22.04.60 version certified for the 21.12 platform version. That’s because the 21.12 platform version is lower than 22.02, and isn't backward compatible. You must upgrade to the latest FADA skill version and incorporate the new features into the skills while upgrading. For more information, see Upgrade Digital Assistant and Add a Skill to a Digital Assistant.
- See this table for the latest ODA skill platform version and the corresponding FADA skill release version.
Certified ODA Skill Platform Version New Feature Skills Supporting New Feature Certified FADA Skill Release Version 22.12 None N/A
23.04.19
NOTE: In the FADA version number, the first four digits correspond to the application release and the last two digits show the FADigitalAssistant version within the release. For example, in the 22.07.48 version, 22 corresponds to the year 2022, and 07 corresponds to the quarterly release (01 = A, 04 = B, 07 = C, 10 = D) of the application version. The last two digits, 48, show the FADigitalAssistant version within the 22.07 release. The platform version is displayed in a four-digit format, the first two digits show the year, and the next two digits show the month. For example, in the 22.02 platform version, 22 corresponds to the year 2022, and 02 corresponds to February.
DEPRECATION OF OLDER DIGITAL ASSISTANT SKILL VERSIONS
The Digital Assistant and its skills continuously receive updates as they get smarter and provide enhanced conversational experiences. In every release, check for updated versions in the Skill Store. When you access a skill that is based on a deprecated platform version, a warning message displays. You can click the Tell me more option to view more information on the platform versions. Versions stop working when the underlying platform version becomes inactive, at the longest 2 years after release.
- The Expenses skill built using Oracle Digital Assistant platform version 20.08 is deprecated and may become obsolete soon. You can continue using your skill in platform version 20.08. However, no updates or bug fixes for this specific version of the skill will be provided. We encourage you to move to the latest version of the Expenses skill at the earliest opportunity.
-
The Candidate Experience skill built using Oracle Digital Assistant platform version 22.08 is deprecated and may become obsolete soon. You can continue using your skill in platform version 22.08. However, no updates or bug fixes for this specific version of the skill will be provided. We encourage you to move to the latest Candidate Experience V2 skill version at the earliest opportunity.
-
For more information on the lifecycle phases of skill versions, see Lifecycle Phases of Platform Versions.
-
For more information on recently-added features and enhancements in the different versions of the ODA platform, see What's New in ODA.
OPEN-SOURCE FONTS TO REPLACE LICENSED MONOTYPE FONTS IN ORACLE TRANSACTIONAL BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE

In 23C, Publisher uses Google Noto fonts as the default fallback fonts and supports the use of the Libre Barcode fonts to generate barcodes. The following table lists the replacement fonts for the Monotype fonts.
Monotype Fonts | Replacement Fonts |
---|---|
Monotype Albany fonts |
Google Noto fonts |
Monotype Barcode fonts |
Libre Barcode fonts |

ORACLE SOCIAL NETWORK WILL BE RETIRED FROM RELEASE 24C ONWARDS
Starting from update 24C, you can no longer use Oracle Social Network (OSN) to share, socialize, and update information. This will affect users across all product families who are using OSN. For more information on OSN deprecation, see End of Life (EOL) Details for Oracle Social Network (Doc ID 2675346.1) on My Oracle Support.
Appendix
In earlier releases, if a language value wasn't set in the Accept-Language header of a REST request, the response contained translated text that was either in English or some other language. The default language set in the user's profile wasn't considered for translating the response.
Starting update 23D, this issue has been fixed. If the Accept-Language header is not specified, the response contains the translated text as per the default language set in the user’s profile. If a response is required in a specific language, it must be specified in the Accept-Language header of the request.
