Enhanced Ability to Add OTBI Reports in Salary and Individual Compensation Pages
We made it easier for you to add OTBI reports to Salary and Individual Compensation pages. Previously you could only add reports to pages using the object type of Web Page and page or scope parameters were not yet available. Now you're able to add the object type of Report. We enable the parameters for Assignment ID and Person ID. These features use page personalization via Page Composer. You can also use these features on Compensation Info.
Page scope parameters that are available:
Salary Flow / Section | Assignment ID | Person ID |
My Team > Change Salary | #{pageFlowScope.assignmentId} |
#{pageFlowScope.personId} |
My Client Groups > Change Salary | #{pageFlowScope.assignmentId} |
#{pageFlowScope.personId} |
My Client Groups > Salary History | #{pageFlowScope.assignmentId} |
#{pageFlowScope.personId} |
Salary section in GHR Flow of Local and Global Transfer | #{pageFlowScope.assignmentId} |
#{pageFlowScope.personId} |
Salary section in GHR Flows such as Promote, Transfer, Change Assignment | #{pageFlowScope.assignmentId} |
#{pageFlowScope.personId} |
Salary section in GHR Flows such as New Hire, Add Pending Worker |
#{pageFlowScope.assignmentId} |
#{pageFlowScope.personId} |
- The Salary region in the above flows is independent, so for example, reports embedded in My Team > Change Salary don't reflect in other flows.
- The GHR flows - Promote, Transfer, Change Assignment, Change Working Hours, Local transfer shares the same region, so reports embedded in one of them shows in other flows.
- The GHR flows - New Hire, Add Pending Worker share the same region, so reports embedded in one of them shows in the other flow.
Individual Compensation Flow | Assignment ID | Person ID |
Me > Manage Personal Contribution | #{pageFlowScope.pAssignmentId} |
#{pageFlowScope.pPersonId} |
My Team > Individual Compensation | #{pageFlowScope.pAssignmentId} |
#{pageFlowScope.pPersonId} |
My Client Groups > Individual Compensation | #{pageFlowScope.pAssignmentId} |
#{pageFlowScope.pPersonId} |
My Client Groups > Administer Compensation | #{pageFlowScope.pAssignmentId} |
#{pageFlowScope.pPersonId} |
Individual Compensation section in GHR flows such as Promote, Transfer, Change Assignment, New Hire |
#{pageFlowScope.pAssignmentId} |
#{pageFlowScope.pPersonId} |
- Individual Compensation, Administer Compensation, GHR Flows such as Promote, Transfer, Change Assignment, New Hire, Local and Global Transfer share the same region, so reports embedded in one of them shows in the other flows.
- Personal Contribution has different region.
Compensation Info scope parameters are as follows. These were previously available for the web page object type, and the report object type is also now enabled for Compensation Info.
- #{pageFlowScope.responsiveModuleMap.PersonId}
- #{pageFlowScope.responsiveModuleMap.AssignmentId}
Steps for adding a report on Salary: Let's add some assignment info from the Worker Assignment Event Real Time subject area. We'll add this sample report from customer connect, because it already has an Assignment ID filter: https://community.oracle.com/customerconnect/discussion/613719/sample-report-display-an-otbi-report-on-compensation-info
Enable and enter a sandbox. Select 'Page Composer' in the Sandbox tools. Be on the Change Salary page for a person, then in Settings and Actions, select Edit Pages. In the Structure tab, click 'Salary Details', and use Confirm Task Flow Edit, to get you in the correct area. Increase the Dock size if you need more space. Select panelGroupLayout: vertical under Salary Details and Edit Task Flow, as shown below.
Place your cursor on panelGroupLayout: vertical and click the plus sign. Click Open on the Reports and Analytics folder. Navigate to your report under BIPresentation Server, to the folder where you saved it. Select Add to add your report. Close the Add Content box. Your report is now on the page. Also select Close on the upper right. It will look like this.
The report as it appears on the page under Salary Details:
This feature simplifies how you add OTBI reports to salary and individual compensation pages with the new ability to add reports using parameters.
Steps to Enable
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.
Tips And Considerations
Be mindful of the potential impact of report performance on the page. For example, test the report to be sure it returns results in a reasonable amount of time.
Key Resources
- For some more related info on adding reports to compensation pages see: Add OTBI Reports to Compensation Pages on Customer Connect.
Additional Attributes in Salary Business Object
You can now make use of additional attributes in Autocomplete validation rules for the Salary object.
Here's a complete list of the additional attributes:
- Adjustment Amount
- Adjustment Percentage
- Annual Salary
- Annual Full-time Salary
- Compa-Ratio
- Full-time Equivalent
- Range Position
- Salary Range Minimum
- Salary Range Midpoint
- Salary Range Maximum
- Quartile
- Quintile
This enhancement improves your coverage in validating salary and analytical values.
Steps to Enable
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.
Tips And Considerations
- You can use these attributes in criteria or while building conditions, but can’t default them.
- You can't define field validation or modification rules on these attributes.
Reuse Action Occurrence Identifier
People's assignments include an action occurrence identifier. You can now opt to reuse that identifier when people create or correct salary independent of creating or correcting the assignment. Reuse happens whenever an assignment exists with the same start date, action, and reason as the new or corrected salary.
By default, when people create or correct salary independently of assignment, the salary gets a new action occurrence identifier. When you reuse the identifier, the Employment History and Future Actions section of the Employment Info page (enhanced in 22C update) shows you both the salary changes and the assignment bundled together.
Provide a cohesive view of assignment and salary irrespective of whether changes happened together or separately.
Steps to Enable
You need to configure this profile option:
Profile Code | ORA_CMP_SAL_REUSE_ASGN_ACTION_OCCURRENCE |
---|---|
Profile Name | Salary to Reuse Action Occurrence Identifier of Assignment |
Description | Profile option to make salary reuse the assignment action occurrence identifier whenever a matching action and reason exists for the salary start date |
To configure a profile option, complete these steps in the Setup and Maintenance work area:
- Search for and click the Manage Administrator Profile Values task.
- Search for and select the profile option.
- Set the Level to Site.
- In the Profile Value field, select Yes.
Tips And Considerations
We recommend that you use the feature only if you have enabled responsive pages and are using the enhanced Employment Info page released in 22C update. But when you enable the profile option, the action occurrence identifier is reused when you create or correct salary using classic or responsive pages.
Enabling the profile option can affect the action occurrence identifier of the previous salary. For example, you have salary on 2010, 2016, and 2021.
- When you create a salary for 2022, the processing tries to reuse the action occurrence identifier for the 2022 salary and 2021 salary.
- When you modify the 2021 salary, processing tries to reuse the action occurrence identifier for the 2021 salary.
- When you delete the 2021 salary, processing tries to reuse the action occurrence identifier for the 2016 salary.
Whenever you create or delete a salary, processing accesses the previous salary to correct the end date. Thus processing also tries to reuse the action occurrence identifier for that salary.
Action occurrence won't be reused while posting assignment and salary changes from Workforce Compensation, because it posts salary changes before assignment changes.
Reuse of action occurrence happens whenever you create or correct salary independently using tools, actions and pages, and processes:
- Tools examples:
- HCM Data Loader or HCM Spreadsheet Data Loader and Salary object
- Salaries REST API
- Download Salaries
- Responsive action and page examples:
- Change Salary (Line Manager)
- Change Salary (Compensation Manager)
- Edit Salary from Compensation Info
- Salary History
- Local and Global Transfer
- Combined Correction and Deletion Employment Details (introduced in 22C update)
- Process examples:
- Run Rates-based Salary Process
- Run Grade Step Progression
- Synchronize Grade Step Rates
- Workforce Compensation Transfer (only when posting salary, without assignment changes)
- Mass Legal Employer Change
- Classic action and page example:
- Change Salary
Behaviour when assignment has multiple changes on the same day:
Whenever people make multiple assignment changes on the same day with the same action and reason, we link the salary to the most recent action occurrence.
Salary Can’t Be Maintained for Inactive Assignments During Change Assignment
You can't create or update salary for inactive assignments or assignments that will become inactive, in the Change Assignment action. For example, while ending an assignment or temporary assignment, you can't propose salary.
Also, you can't propose salary in the Correct Employment Details action introduced in 22C update. And you can't propose salary when editing a change assignment using the End Assignment or End Temporary Assignment action.
You can continue with the existing behavior by opting out. You opt out using the Don’t Change Salary for Inactive Assignments in Change Assignment Action profile option.
Provide a seamless experience that prevents errors from happening after final approval.
Steps to Enable
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.
Tips And Considerations
If you do not want to use this feature you will need to set this profile option to opt-out of the feature:
Profile Code | ORA_CMP_NO_SALARY_CHANGE_WHEN_INACTIVE_CHG_ASGN |
---|---|
Profile Name | Don’t Change Salary for Inactive Assignments in Change Assignment Action |
Description | Don’t let people change salary in the Change Assignment action for an inactive assignment or an assignment that will become inactive. |
Value | No |
To configure a profile option, complete these steps to the Setup and Maintenance work area:
- Search for and click the Manage Administrator Profile Values task.
- Search for and select the profile option.
- Set the Level to Site.
- In the Profile Value field, select No.
Then, when an approver edits the transaction submitted before the upgrade, they will see the message in salary section. But, the transaction could error out eventually, based on element configuration.
Copy Individual Compensation Awards During Mass Legal Employer Change
As of Update 21A, you could copy individual compensation allocations from the source legal employer to the destination legal employer for an individual, when the legislative data group is same. Now as of Update 22D, you can do the same with the Mass Legal Employer Change process.
To prevent the copying of individual compensation allocations, be sure the copy option is deselected before submitting the request.
By default, the Mass Legal Employer Change process has the new option showing. You can use HCM Experience Design Studio to hide it, as appropriate. Hiding it, won’t prevent copying. The only way to prevent copying is to keep the field visible and have people uncheck it before they submit the process.
Improve efficiency and reduce manual steps needed to create details from the original legal employer for the new legal employer.
Steps to Enable
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.
Tips And Considerations
- During a local and global transfer, the allocations that you see in the Individual Compensation section are automatically copied from the source legal employer according to these conditions:
- The legislative data group of the element linked to the individual compensation plan option is the same for both legal employers.
- The individual compensation plan has a Restrict Plan Access setting of either No. Or, the setting includes the Global Transfer action.
- When you want to automatically copy people’s voluntary contributions (VC), make sure the individual compensation plan has an access setting that includes the Global Transfer action.
- Individual compensation plans for the source assignment get end-dated whenever the element attached to plan is configured to use only the last standard process date or last standard earning date.
- The individual compensation copy process considers the element entries of the element linked to an individual compensation plan option. When you have individual compensation option element entries with a source type other than VC, the payroll process also copies them, leading to duplicate entries. To prevent the payroll process from creating duplicates, you can define an element group to exclude individual compensation elements when submitting the Mass Legal Employer Change process. This ensures that the individual compensation copy process copies the element entries, but not the payroll process.
You get element entries with source types other than VC when the entries are created using element entries task as well as transferring data from workforce compensation plans. Also when you don't set the source type as VC when loading element entries using HCM Data Loader.

Copy Document Records with Individual Compensation Allocations During Global Transfer
During Local and Global Transfer or Mass Legal Employer Change actions, you can now automatically copy the attached document of records along with the individual compensation allocations.
Similarly you can submit a mass legal employer change request.
This enhancement lets you maintain document traceability even after a global transfer. Traceability stays with the source individual compensation allocation.
Steps to Enable
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.
Tips And Considerations
When the change copies future individual compensation allocations, it deletes the source allocation but not the attachments. Deleting the attachments is planned for a future update.
Require the Submission of Documents with Individual Compensation Proposals of Pending Worker
As of Update 22C, you could require the submission of documents with individual compensation in certain actions. Now as of Update 22D, you can require proposers to attach relevant documents or make attachments optional in the Add a Pending Worker and Edit Pending Worker actions.
After approval, the attachments are available in the individual's document records. The pending worker conversion copies the submitted documents to the converted employee or contingent worker assignment.
This enhancement ensures documents are submitted where required and preserves them for audit purposes.
Steps to Enable
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.
Tips And Considerations
Letting people add attachments and requiring attachments during a proposal is now available on the Add a Pending Worker and Edit Pending Worker responsive pages.
You can’t yet add attachments in Offer flows, even though the individual compensation plan option is configured with document type settings.
You see the attachments link in approval notifications of Personal Contribution, Individual Compensation, and Administer Compensation only. You can't yet view attachments link in other notifications.
Role And Privileges
This table shows the privileges needed to access attachments region in the individual compensation section and person's document records:
Aggregate Privilege | Comments |
---|---|
Manage Person Documentation ORA_PER_DOCUMENT_MANAGEMENT_DUTY |
This Aggregate Privilege is inherited by Compensation Manager and Compensation Specialist from 22D update. |
If you use custom roles, make sure the job roles inherit the Manage Person Documentation aggregate privilege. You need to regenerate the data role after choosing the appropriate document type security profile.
View Lookup Meaning in Individual Compensation Notifications That Display Input Values
Oracle Business Intelligence Publisher (BI) notifications for individual compensation actions, such as Manage Personal Contribution, Individual Compensation, and Administer Individual Compensation, now show the lookup code meaning instead of the code when they're configured to display input values.
This enhancement provides approvers with more meaningful input values on individual compensation notifications.
Steps to Enable
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.
Tips And Considerations
The improved notification is part of workflow notifications associated with these tasks: Manage Personal Contribution, Manage Compensation, and Administer Individual Compensation.
Key Resources
- For more details about showing input values, an enhancement was introduced in Update 20C, see Profile Options for Compensation Approval Notifications.
Launch Document Records Page from Compensation Spotlight for Individual Compensation Plans Submitted with Attachments
As of Update 22C, you could require the submission of documents with individual compensation in certain actions. Now in Update 22D, you can view document attachments for approved individual compensation allocations using the My Compensation, Compensation Info actions.
This enhancement lets people quickly trace the documents provided with the individual compensation proposal.
Steps to Enable
When using predefined compensation roles:
- Edit the Compensation Manager and Compensation Specialist data roles using the Assign Security Profiles to Role task.
- Select the appropriate document type security profile.
- Regenerate the data role.
When using custom compensation roles:
- Add the Manage Person Documentation / ORA_PER_DOCUMENT_MANAGEMENT_DUTY aggregate privilege to your custom job roles using Security Console.
- Edit the data role using the Assign Security Profiles to Role task.
- Select the appropriate document type security profile.
- Regenerate the data role.
Even when you haven't completed the previous steps, some people might be able to view the individual compensation attachments. This happens when they have other roles that grant access to the document of record types used with individual compensation allocations.
Tips And Considerations
People can view the attached document based on their role and the data security configuration for the document of record.
Key Resources
For more details see these topics in the Securing HCM guide
Role And Privileges
This table shows the privileges needed to access attachments region in the individual compensation section and person's document records:
Aggregate Privilege | Comments |
---|---|
Manage Person Documentation ORA_PER_DOCUMENT_MANAGEMENT_DUTY |
This Aggregate Privilege is now inherited by Compensation Manager and Compensation Specialist from 22D update. |
Guided Journeys for Compensation Flows
In continuation of the Guided Journeys to Assist Complex HCM Flows feature introduced in 22B, you can now configure guided journeys for more Compensation actions using Transaction Design Studio (TDS) rules.
The list of additional actions supported are:
TDS Action |

N |
To change the default profile option value follow these steps:
- Navigate to the Setup and Maintenance work area.
- Search for and click the Manage Administrator Profile Values task.
- Search for the ORA_PER_GUIDED_JOURNEYS_ENABLED profile option code and select the profile option in the search results.
- In the Profile Values area, enter Y in the Profile Value field.
- Click Save and Close.
Tips And Considerations
- Guided journeys can be configured only from the Checklist Templates setup page.
- You can't change the category of an existing journey to Guided Journey. Instead, define a new guided journey.
- The Create Journey button in Explore tab on Journeys doesn't support creation of guided journeys.
- Guided journeys are supported only in ADF pages and not on VBCS pages.
- Supported task types in a guided journey are Analytics, Document, Embedded Learning, External URL, Manual Task, Questionnaire, Report, and Video.
- The attributes available for configuring a guided journey are different than the regular journey setup.
- A new subscriber code is available for Guided Journeys in Questionnaires to store the responses provided.
- You can configure the rule in TDS even if the guided journey profile option is set to N. Guided journeys won't be displayed in the Explore, My Journeys, My Tasks, and Assigned Journeys tabs.
- It's recommended to use only one guided journey per TDS action.
- A recommended best practice when creating multiple guided journeys and adding in TDS is to follow a naming convention to help identify the guided journey. Something like this: actionName_ruleConfigParams_pageLevel or actionName_ruleConfigParams_sectionName. For example, Transfer_Employee_Page or Transfer_USManager_AssignmentDetails.

Contextual Journeys for Compensation Flows
In continuation of the Contextual Journeys to Orchestrate Business Processes feature introduced in 22B, you can now use additional Compensation quick actions that are available when configuring contextual journeys that need to be performed by different performers before a HR transaction.
Based on the contextual journey setup, when you initiate a specific HR quick action from either Me, My Team, or My Client Groups, a single contextual journey or a list of eligible contextual journeys displays. You can then start the relevant contextual journey.
The list of additional Compensation quick actions now supported in the Contextual Journeys are:
Category |
Quick Action Name |
---|---|
Me |
My Compensation |
My Team |
Change Salary |

Tips And Considerations
- You need to configure the required Application Task (quick action) in your journey template so that the user can perform it as part of the contextual journey. For example, when you are defining a contextual journey for Change Salary, include an application task that invokes the Change Salary. This will ensure that the person performing the transaction can perform a Change Salary.
- You can configure Contextual journeys only from the Checklist Templates setup page.
- You can't change the category of an existing journey to Contextual Journey. Instead, define a new contextual journey.
- The attributes available for configuring a contextual journey are different than the regular journey setup. For example, you can’t configure an eligibility profile at the checklist or task level for contextual journeys.
- The attributes in the Configure Criteria section will vary for each contextual action.
- The DocuSign, I-9, and OPA task types aren’t supported in contextual journeys.
- The processing mode for contextual journeys is set to Alerts based notifications by default and BI Publisher notifications aren’t supported.
- Continue Without Journey button on the Contextual Journey Gallery page is controlled using a security privilege. See the Role section.
- Contextual journeys won't be displayed in the Explore, My Journeys, and Assigned Journeys tabs.
- The My Tasks tab in Journeys displays tasks from contextual journeys.
- The Create Journey button in the Explore tab doesn't support creation of contextual journeys.
- Only a limited set of quick actions are currently supported for configuring contextual journeys.
- The application task configured within the contextual journey is always launched in the context of the primary assignment. This is true even if a non-primary assignment is selected for the quick action which triggers the contextual journey.

Update of Information Icon in Worksheet Column Headers
You now see a new information icon in all worksheet column headers. We updated the icon to a circle i icon instead of the circle ? icon.
The new updated column icon matches the summary-level information icon.
Steps to Enable
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.
Tips And Considerations
To use the column header information feature, navigate to the Column Properties page for the column. Scroll down to Information, enter text, and save. The Information icon automatically appears.
You don't have to run the Refresh process when you update this column property..
Updated Setup Task List for Workforce Compensation
You can now view plan setup info and access setup pages from the Workforce Compensation task list and we removed the word Configure from each of the task names. Here's each setup section with the old and new views.
In the screenshot below, you can see that the task names now don't have the word Configure. The task names themselves provide access to the individual pages. We moved the status icon to the left of the task name. Some pertinent plan setup information now shows in the Details section. What appears is based upon info found in plan setup and can't be altered.
Let's look at Configure Budgets:
In the updated task list, you can see the individual budget pools with what method the pool uses. You can access each pool from the task list instead of having to navigate to the Budget Pools page. If you need to create a new budget pool the administrator can access the Budget Pools page and proceed. Each Budget Display page can be accessed individually as well.
Next we'll review Configure Worksheets:
You can access compensation component configuration individually rather than going through the Compensation Components parent page. As with Budget Pools, if you need to create a new component the administrator can access the Compensation Components page to proceed.
Previously, you needed to access Configure Worksheet Display before accessing the task setup pages. Now, you can access them directly and the type of task is displayed as well. If a new task needs to be created, access Worksheet Display to do so.
The number of alerts that are configured and enabled is a part of the information displayed on the task list page. This helps with troubleshooting issues.
Finally, we'll cover Configure Models and Reports and Validation and Processing.
In the updated task list, you can see the number of reports enabled, how many report dimensions or modeling criteria have been enabled, and the number of enabled filters.
This feature lets administrators view plan setup information more quickly and access setup pages directly, saving clicks and time.
Steps to Enable
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.
Update Grade Step as Part of a Workforce Compensation Cycle
You can now let managers update a person's Grade Step as a part of a workforce compensation cycle. Previously, this was not possible. We also added the current Grade Ladder and Grade Step to the list of available worksheet columns:
As a part of the new columns properties, only the Proposed Grade Step is included in the audit trail and allowed for updates. The Proposed Grade Step column is read only by default. You must explicitly choose to allow worksheet managers to update the column. All 3 new columns can be initially hidden, enabled, allow for role-based column access to be configured, and used in dynamic calculations and alerts. The new columns are available for display in Individual Worker Display and Administer Workers.
Proposed Grade Column
Also, as a part of this enhancement, we changed the Proposed Grade column. Depending on the criteria met for the assignment, values are shown from one of these sets: All Grades of the set, Valid Grades of Position and Job, or Grades of the assignment grade ladder.
-
When the assignment doesn't have a Grade Ladder and if the profile option PER_ENFORCE_VALID_GRADES is disabled the Proposed Grade list of values shows all the Grades available for the respective set.
-
When the assignment doesn't have a Grade Ladder and if the profile option PER_ENFORCE_VALID_GRADES is enabled the Proposed Grade list of values shows all Valid Grades available depending on the Position or Job for the respective set.
-
When the assignment has a Grade Ladder, regardless of the value of the profile option PER_ENFORCE_VALID_GRADES, the Proposed Grade list of values shows the Grades with respect to the Grade Ladder.
Worksheet
The new Proposed Grade Step column shows the steps of a Grade if the Grade is part of a Grade Ladder configured to use Grade and Steps. When you select a Grade using the Proposed Grade column, and if the Grades are from a Grade Ladder configured to use Grade and Steps, the first Step in the sequence shown by default. Worksheet managers can change or override it with any of the Steps from the list of values. When the Proposed Grade column is not filled with a selected Grade and if the current Grade is part of a ladder that configured to use Grade and Steps, the Proposed Grade Step drop down shows the respective Steps for the current Grade. In a scenario where the Proposed Grade or Current Grade doesn't have Steps, the Proposed Grade Step list of values remain blank.
NOTE: The Compensation Amount Column selected to post as salary will be READ-ONLY for people with a Grade Ladder with Include salary updates set to Yes. Their compensation amount is calculated based on the value selected in the Grade Step column.
Base Salary - New Column
When a Grade Step is proposed in the worksheet, it automatically fetches the Step value as the new base salary, subject to the following conditions:
-
- The Grade Ladder should be of type Grade and Step .
- The Grade Ladder should have Include salary updates set to Yes.
- The Grade Ladder should have Salary Calculation Method set to Use grade step rate.
- There should be only one component in the Workforce Compensation plan that has its compensation amount set to Post as salary.
- Worker's salary basis type is not Salary Rates or Simple Components.
If the Proposed Grade Step's value can't be determined, the Base Salary - New column in the worksheet (along with the associated compensation amount column) is set to null. This happens in the following cases:
-
- The Grade Ladder's currency doesn't match the base salary currency of the worker.
- The Proposed Grade Step doesn't have a value defined in the Grade Ladder.
The Base Salary - New (along with the associated compensation amount column) becomes read-only. You can only propose it by selecting a Proposed Grade Step when the following conditions are met:
-
- The Grade Ladder is of type Grade and Step.
- The Grade Ladder has Include salary updates set to Yes.
In other cases, the column behavior remains as before.
The Base Salary - New is calculated based on the Step value using the following formula:
Base Salary - New = (Step Value * Step Annualization Factor) / (Pay Annualization Factor)
If the base salary frequency of the worker isn't hourly and Salary Adjustment Type of the ladder is set to a value other than blank (FTE less than 1 only OR FTE not equal to 1) and the FTE of the worker's assignment matches the selection, then FTE adjustment happen as follows:
Base Salary - New = (Step Value * Step Annualization Factor * FTE of the worker's assignment) / (Pay Annualization Factor)
Downloaded Workbook
If you select the Manage in Workbook option the downloaded workbook has 3 new columns: Current Grade Ladder, Current Grade Step, and Proposed Grade Step. The first two are read-only columns and the last one is editable according to set up preferences. The downloaded workbook works the same way the worksheet does.
People can select Proposed Grade Step values either from the list of values of the Proposed Grade Step column by double-clicking on the respective cell or by entering a value in the cell and uploading it.
Note: The Proposed Grade Step list of values shows the values according to the existing Grade or Proposed Grade value. If people select a new Proposed Grade in the downloaded workbook the Proposed Grade Step list of values shows step values according to the old Grade or Proposed Grade value until the new Proposed Grade is uploaded.
If people enter a valid Proposed Grade value but an invalid Proposed Grade Step value, the upload fails.
Batch Processing
During the Start Compensation Cycle process, the Current Grade Ladder and Current Grade Step values are fetched from Global HR as of the plan cycle's HR data extraction date. When you run the Refresh Process with either the Full refresh or Refresh HR data options selected, Current Grade Ladder and Current Grade Step values for workers part of the plan are refreshed from Global HR as of the effective date selected during refresh process run.
We enhanced the Transfer Workforce Compensation Data to HR Process to transfer the Proposed Grade Step attribute along with existing Job, Grade, Position, and Assignment Name Change attributes of a person's assignment. The Transfer process skips salary transfers for those workers who are on a Grade Ladder of Type Grade and Steps and the Grade Ladder has Include salary updates checked. The Transfer process log shows the reason an update was skipped. After a Proposed Grade Step is transferred to an assignment from a plan cycle, the Rate Synchronization process needs to run separately to update the new salary on the assignment because the Transfer process doesn't update the salaries.
The Back Out Workforce Compensation Cycle process now reverts any Grade Step changes that are done as a part of Transfer Workforce Compensation Data to HR process.
Administer Workers
When administrators run the Reprocess or Add New Plan process, the Current Grade Ladder and Current Grade Step values are also fetched from Global HR as of effective date selected during the process run. When you run the Refresh Data process for any person, the Current Grade Ladder and Current Grade Step values are also refreshed.
This feature lets managers update Grade Steps for people as a part of a workforce compensation plan.
Steps to Enable
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.
Tips And Considerations
- The Transfer process skips salary transfers for those workers who're on a Grade Ladder type Grade and Steps and the Grade Ladder has Include salary updates checked. After a Proposed Grade Step is transferred to an assignment from a plan cycle, you need to run the Rate Synchronization process separately to update the new salary on the assignment because the Transfer process doesn't update the salaries.
- If there are future dated records or pending approvals on a person's assignment, the Transfer process doesn't update the record. The same applies to the Back Out Workforce Compensation Cycle process.
- Grade Step changes aren't considered as a promotion in any of the analytics, counts, etc. other than in the Data Processed reports.
- If two plan cycles share the same Default Promotion Effective Date, the Proposed Grade Step data is shared between them. Updates in one is reflected in other, just like for other proposed promotion columns.
- If you enable Assignment Segments, the Apply Total action from segments doesn't overwrite the compensation amount if it is expected to come from Grade Step selection.
- Create Grade Ladders using Progression Grade Ladders page not from Manage Grade Ladders flow.
NOTE: The Compensation Amount Column selected to post as salary will be READ-ONLY for people with a Grade Ladder with Include salary updates set to Yes. Their compensation amount is calculated based on the value selected in the Grade Step column.
Deep Link For Workforce Compensation
You can now use a deep link to open the Workforce Compensation landing page directly from external sites.
Deep Link | Detail |
---|---|
CMP_WORKFORCE_COMPENSATION |
Workforce Compensation |
This feature lets people access Workforce Compensation from external sites or to include Workforce Compensation in a Journey or Checklist.
Steps to Enable
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.
Tips And Considerations
The deep link takes people to the Workforce Compensation landing page. They still need to navigate to the desired plan. This prevents people from accessing plans where plan cycles are closed or are outside of the plan cycle dates.
Updated Individual Worker Display Configuration Pages
We streamlined the Individual Worker Display configuration pages. Previously, there were more navigation steps and the preview option was on a separate drill-down page.
Now, page properties and content are on the main configuration page and the preview is a separate tab.
With this feature, Individual Worker Display configuration is much more streamlined with fewer clicks to complete your tasks.
Steps to Enable
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.

Person and Assignment Number Columns Added to Grade Step Progression Review Page
We added two new columns to the Results page of the Review Proposed Progressions and Salary Updates task: Person Number and Assignment Number. You can configure these columns to display when you view people in the Updates and Errors tabs in the Results page.
You can use Query by Example to search for a specific person by person number or assignment number. This example shows how to search for a person number on the Errors tab.
With this enhancement, you can easily find the right person when two or more people have similar names.
Steps to Enable
To display the new columns on the Results page, select them from the table-level View menu.

Grade Step Progression Error Processing
We revised the text of some existing grade step progression warning and error messages to make them more clear.
If you configured your batch processes or HR actions to show an error when proposed salary is less than or equal to the current salary, people now see different messages depending on whether the salary amount is determined by user, or by simple components. The new message makes it clear that the comparison happens on the component amounts when salary amount is determined by simple components.
In batch, you see these error messages:
- When the salary amount is determined by user: The progression or salary update can’t be processed because the proposed salary isn’t greater than the current salary. (CMP-1005468)
- When the salary amount is determined by simple components: The progression or salary update can’t be processed because the proposed component amount isn’t greater than the current amount. (CMP-1005773)
In HR actions, you see these warning messages:
- When the salary amount is determined by user: The salary isn’t updated from the grade ladder rate because the rate isn’t greater than the current salary.
- When the salary amount is determined by simple components: The component amount isn’t updated from the grade ladder rate because the rate isn’t greater than the current component amount.
Remember that these error conditions are configurable. You can disable them using the Configure Global Compensation Settings task in Setup and Maintenance.
We also changed the text of the message you get when you disable the Include in Grade Step Progression attribute on a person’s assignment. The change makes the reason for the error more clear. If you’ve disabled the assignment attribute, people see this error message on the Review page, after running a batch process:
- The person’s assignment isn’t set up to be included in grade step progression, so the process excludes it. (CMP-1005455)
Several other messages were revised for consistency. These revised messages are used in HR actions:
- There’s a future salary record, so the amount isn’t updated from the grade ladder.
- The grade ladder calculates salary using a formula, so the amount isn’t updated from the grade ladder.
- The legislative data group of the grade ladder and salary basis aren’t the same, so the amount can’t be updated from the grade ladder.
These revised messages are used in both batch processes and HR actions:
- The currency of the salary basis and grade ladder aren’t the same, so the amount can’t be updated from the grade ladder. (CMP-1005486)
- The rate value from the grade ladder is missing, so the amount can’t be updated from the grade ladder. (CMP-1005487)
With this enhancement, error messages are easier to understand.
Steps to Enable
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.

Grade Step Progression Replaced or Removed Features
From time to time, Oracle replaces existing features with new features, or removes existing features.
Replaced features may be put on a path of removal, the features below will let you know what update you will have to have moved to the newer feature. As a best practice, you should move to the newer feature as soon as possible for full support and to stay up with the latest updates that the product offers.
Any feature that is removed, will have an Update in which that feature is no longer available. Please make necessary plans to move off the feature by the Update indicated, as it will no longer be available.
Discontinued Support for Salary Default From Grade Ladder Rates on HCM Classic Simplified Pages
We removed in Update 22D the feature that populates salary from progression grade ladder rates on the classic Person Management > Employment page in this update. Previously, the feature updated the salary record when you change the grade ladder, grade, or step on a person's assignment. The classic Employment page doesn't contain a compensation or salary section, so the feature depended on a service to update the salary record. Other classic pages, such as Hire an Employee and Add a Contingent Worker, include the compensation section, so these pages aren't impacted.
Related event triggers were also removed.
To default salary from grade ladder rates, use the responsive HR actions.
Steps to Enable
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.

Market Data: Enhancements for Job and Position in HSDL
Now you can use the dialog box within spreadsheet loaders to look up either job or position codes. We changed page dialogs and loading spreadsheets to display the parent job indicator, so you can more easily find parent benchmark jobs. Previously, the Import Composites HSDL didn't support search dialog boxes for Job Code or Position Code. The Manage Job List HSDL already had search dialog boxes on Matched Job Code and Matched Position Code. However we now integrated a new Parent Job search criteria.
Use this feature to look up jobs and positions in search dialog boxes within the HSDL spreadsheet. Parent Job indicator also displays consistently in search dialog boxes.
Steps to Enable
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.
Market Data: Configure Market Composites
You can now select and label market composites for display in the downstream application. Previously, we recommended that you only load the composites that you want people to see, and friendly labels were not available. Now you can feel free to populate all the columns in the composites table, so professional users have access to complete data, while controlling the downstream consumption of specific columns. There's a new task in Market Data called Configure Market Composites Display. Accordingly, we changed the View Market Composites task and pages in Workforce Compensation that reveal composites.
Use Configure Market Composites Display to select compensation types to display. Use the Add action to include them, and enter a Display Name if you'd like it to appear with a friendly label. Separately, enable the Market Target as desired, and enter a Display Name if you want it to appear with a different label.
Use the hyperlink shown highlighted in yellow above to further configure the columns from the composites table. Some columns like 10th, 50th and 90th percentile are automatically enabled for convenience. You can disable them. In addition, the Market Target is enabled and you can disable it. Use the Display Name to add a friendly label as desired.
Use the Individual Worker Display to show Market Composites.
Market Composites can appear on the worksheet in Workforce Compensation and in Administer Workers.
Administrators can also use the View Market Composites task in Market Data.
This feature lets you use the new Configure Market Composites Display task to control the display of values and labels of market composites on pages.
Steps to Enable
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.
Tips And Considerations
In Workforce Compensation, your previous non-configurable method for displaying composites still works. We recommend that you use the new task to configure composites to display, as soon as you are able.
External Data: Enable Delete in HDL
You can now use HCM Data Loader (HDL) to delete rows in External Data. Previously, the ability to delete was limited to either the Purge Entire Table or Delete Records Matching Criteria actions in the External Data page.
This feature automates your External Data maintenance with the new ability to delete via HDL.
Steps to Enable
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.
Tips And Considerations
Brought to you by Idea Lab. If you use External Data for Assignment Segments within Workforce Compensation, be aware that you'll need to run the Reprocess or add new plan process in Administer Workers to update each person’s data.

Reporting On Compensation Zones
As part of this enhancement the following folder has been added to the respective subject areas. Previously, compensation zone information could only be sourced from responsive pages. The new Compensation Zones folder is available as a subfolder in the Salary Details folder:
Subject Area | New Folder |
---|---|
Compensation - Salary Details Real Time |
Salary Details > Compensation Zones |
Compensation - Salary History Details Real Time |
Salary Details > Compensation Zones |
NOTE: Previously existing folder named Compensation Zone is hidden from both the above mentioned subject areas. However any existing analyses that uses attributes from these folders will continue rendering data which will be based only on the responsive pages.
Augment your reporting on salary details with compensation zone information that can come from either responsive pages or classic pages.
Steps to Enable
Run the Generate Compensation Zone batch process to ensure cmp_address_zones is populated correctly, and then cmp_asg_salary_v will retrieve the compensation zone info in OTBI reports.
Differential Grade Rate Information on Worker Differential Profile
The new attributes are added in both salary subject areas as below. Previously when a Differential Profile used Grade Rates instead of Factors, we only provided the default Grade Rate from Salary Basis.
Subject Area | Folder | New Attribute |
---|---|---|
Compensation - Salary Details Real Time |
Salary Details > Range Differential | Range Differential Grade Rate |
Compensation - Salary History Details Real Time |
Salary Details > Range Differential |
Range Differential Grade Rate |
In addition, Grade Rate Annualization Factor has been rectified to show values in the salary subject areas, in both Salary Basis Legacy and Salary Basis Complete folders. The "Grade Rate Annualization Factor Value" column in the Salary Basis - Legacy folder, will now be displayed as "Grade Rate Annualization Factor".
Improve your reporting on the Range Differential Profile of a worker, with the inclusion of Range Differential Grade Rate associated to it. Rectify Grade Rate Annualization Factor in the salary subject areas.
Steps to Enable
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.
