Configurable Business Title Switcher in Compensation Info and My Compensation
In the 22C Update, Global HR introduced the REST Business Title LOV switcher on responsive Employment Info pages. As of 23A, we’re introducing the same feature on the Compensation Info and My Compensation responsive pages. You can easily identify the appropriate assignment in compensation responsive pages by configuring additional assignment attributes to display in the Business Title LOV switcher.
General Behavior of the REST Business Title LOV:
- Shown on the My Compensation, Compensation Info page only when the selected person has more than one assignment.
- Lists assignments that are in any of these HR Statuses: Active, Suspended, Inactive.
- Lists all assignment types except the Offer assignment.
- Supports assignment-level security and lists only those assignments for the selected person that the logged in user has access to.
This enhancement lets people accurately identify the assignment that they want to work with, when the individual has multiple assignments.
Steps to Enable
To use the REST Business Title LoV, set the profile value to Y.
Profile Option Code |
Profile Display Name |
Default Profile Value |
---|---|---|
ORA_PER_EMPL_ENABLE_WRK_ASG_REST_LOV |
Enable Worker Assignment REST LOV |
N |
To change the default profile option value and enable the action, follow these steps:
- Go to the Setup and Maintenance work area.
- Search for and click the Manage Administrator Profile Values task.
- Search for the ORA_PER_EMPL_ENABLE_WRK_ASG_REST_LOV profile option code and select the profile option in the search results.
- In the Profile Values area, Profile Value field, enter Y.
- Click Save and Close.
Tips And Considerations
As of 23A, the profile option controls the business title LOV display on Employment Info, My Compensation, and Compensation Info pages. When you enable this feature, the REST Business Title LOV replaces the existing Business Title switcher on the My Compensation and Compensation Info pages. If you have personalized the Business Title LOV using Page Composer, you need to redo the personalization.

This function privilege is required to use the Business Title LOV when you search using an effective date that's different from the system date. For example, if you search using a specific date in advanced search or you need to see an effective-dated list of workers. Note: This privilege doesn't give access to advanced search. |
When using the predefined roles, you don’t need to do anything. But, when you use custom versions of these roles, you need to add the preceding privileges to your custom roles before people can use this feature.
See the Release 13 Oracle Human Capital Management Cloud Security Upgrade Guide on My Oracle Support (document ID 2023523.1) for instructions about implementing new functions in existing roles.
View Market Composite Details in Compensation Info
You can now see the market composite details for the job or position, and location or segment in a new section of the Compensation Info action. This information lets you compare the person’s compensation to that of the market. For example, compare a person’s annual salary in the salary section to the market composite for new annual salary.
Compensation Page Showing Market Composites, Such as New Annual Salary, Stock Shares, and Bonus Amount
This enhancement consolidates information from various compensation sources so that people can make informed compensation changes.
Steps to Enable
By default, the Market Composites section isn’t visible. You can use HCM Experience Design Studio to make it visible.
For custom compensation roles, you need to add the View Market Composites Summary ORA_CMP_VIEW_MARKET_COMPOSITES_SUMMARY aggregate privilege to your custom job roles using Security Console.
Tips And Considerations
The value chosen in the currency switcher available on the Compensation Info page doesn't affect the behavior of the Market Composites section.
Key Resources
For more details about market composites, see the Market Composites chapter in the Implementing Compensation guide, as well as this material:
For more details about aggregate privileges, see these topics in the Securing HCM guide:

Include Document Records in Salary Proposals
Proposers can now attach document records while submitting responsive salary proposals using Change Salary and Salary History actions. Approvers can view the attachments while they're deciding to approve or reject the proposal. After approval, the attachments are available in the individual's document records.
People can also see the attached document records with salary details on the My Compensation and Compensation Info salary details pages.
This enhancement preserves the documents, through the approval and after, for audit purposes.
Steps to Enable
You need to make the Document Records section visible in the Transaction Design Studio rules of the actions.
This setting controls whether the Document Records section appears in the Change Salary action for both line managers and compensation managers.
Make sure that the document type security profile attached to the proposers’ and approvers’ data roles grants them access to the document types. Then they can access the document records when they create, edit, view, or review salary proposals.
Further Limit Document Types
Complete this optional configuration to further filter the document types by action. It only applies when proposers add new document records.
- In the Setup and Maintenance work area, search for and click the Manage Enterprise HCM Information Task
- Search for HCM Flow and Document Type Mapping.
- Select the document types for these HCM flows:
- Change Salary for Line Manager
- Change Salary for Compensation Manager
- Salary History
If you don’t do these configurations, proposers can add all document types allowed by their document type security profiles. As shown here, the configuration for the Change Salary for Line Manager flow permits Letter of Recognition document types.
Tips And Considerations
Actions tag document records with the action occurrence identifier.
Proposers can include document records of both Person and Assignment types.
Special Scenarios: Here's what happens during certain scenarios:
Scenario | Details |
---|---|
During a Global Transfer when salary is copied |
|
When someone uses Change Salary to correct a salary created with HR actions, such as Hire, Promote, and Local and Global Transfer |
|
When someone uses Change Salary to correct a salary created with compensation actions, such as Change Salary or Salary History |
|
When you have enabled Reuse Action Occurrence Identifier enabled (introduced in the 22C Update) |
|
When you have Combined Correction and Deletion for Assignment, Salary, and Document Records on View Employment Details Page enabled (introduced in the 22C Update) |
|
You can make the Document Records section visible on the My Compensation and Compensation Info pages. Then people can see the documents of record added before you implemented this feature, depending on their assigned document records security profiles. For example, a proposer created salary and attached a document of record using the Hire an employee action in an earlier release. Now, after you make the Document Records section visible, people can view the salary and see the document of record.
Documents of record details are visible on the My Compensation and Compensation Info salary details pages. People can access these pages only when there is more than one salary.
When people use Change Salary, Salary History actions to make changes to only document records, the change salary notifications won’t show salary-related details because they haven’t changed.
The Oracle Business Intelligence Publisher notifications for the Change Salary and Administer Salary processes show the document of record. Salary history notifications don’t currently show the documents of record. This enhancement is planned for a future release.
When people create or edit salary using HCM Data Loader, HCM Spreadsheet Data Loader, or REST services, they can’t also add or update documents of record.
Validate Your Salary Approval Processes
In Update 21D, we introduced the ability to simulate approval transactions. From Update 23A onwards, you can validate responsive salary approvals transactions. Use the HCM Approval Rules page of Transaction Console for Change Salary, Administer Salary, and Salary History approval processes.
You can use the new simulate feature to test approval rule changes without having to create and submit any new transactions. This way, you can debug and incrementally build conditional logic for approval rules and instantaneously see the effect of the change.
You can search for transactions by name, who created them, and created during a date range. To further refine your results, use the Status field. The available statuses are Draft, In Progress, and Failed. Select from the list of filtered transactions and use those values to simulate the approval rule results.
This enhancement lets you more easily fix errors and incrementally build the approval rule conditional logic. You can see the effect of the change without having to create and submit new transactions.
Steps to Enable
For the test approval rule enhancement, you need to create the HCM_TEST_APPROVAL_RULES_ENABLED profile option and set it to True, if it doesn’t already exist with that setting.
1. Create the HCM_TEST_APPROVAL_RULES_ENABLED profile option.
a. In the Setup and Maintenance work area, search for and click the Manage Profile Options task.
b. On the Manage Profile Options page, click New.
c. On the Create Profile Option page, complete the values, as shown here

Tips And Considerations
- This feature doesn't apply to classic flows because you can see the approval chain on the transaction Review page.
- This feature won’t be enabled for any transactions submitted before you upgraded to 22A.
- To test the approval flow configuration for new transactions, you need to disable bypass approvals. But you can test the approval flow configuration for pending, draft, and failed transactions when bypass approvals is enabled.
- You need to first commit any changes you make to the approval rules before you simulate the rules.

View Individual Compensation Input Value Details in Individual Compensation Sections and on Pages
In Update 22C, we introduced the ability to view input values on the offer read-only page. From Update 23A onwards, you can view the input values of individual compensation proposals on read-only pages by expanding contribution or compensation. You no longer need to drill down or edit the proposal.
This enhancement lets you easily see proposal details for individual compensation.
Steps to Enable
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.
Tips And Considerations
The enhancement applies to these individual compensation areas:
- Actions:
- Manage Personal Contribution
- Individual Compensation
- Administer Compensation
- Compensation section in these flows:
- Create and Edit Offer
- Global HR flows, such as New Hire, Promote, and Local and Global Transfer
- Additional compensation read-only section of the Employment Info page introduced in 22C.
Affect of Currency Switcher
- The selected currency affects only the primary input value. It doesn’t affect the input values in the expanded area.
- You can select a value in the currency switcher when the all input values are collapsed. You can’t select a different value in currency switcher when details are expanded.
Clicking Prior Compensation resets the collapse. That is, when you click the prior details link, it collapses all of the expanded details.
Check Integrity of All Individual Compensation Plans Introduction
You can now check the integrity of all individual compensation plans with a single click.
This enhancement lets you quickly validate all individual compensation plans together, rather one at a time.
Steps to Enable
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.
Validate Your Individual Compensation Approval Processes
In Update 21D, we introduced the ability to simulate approval transactions. From Update 23A onwards, you can validate responsive individual compensation approvals transactions. Use the HCM Approval Rules page and Transaction Console for Administer Individual Compensation, Manage Individual Compensation, and Manage Personal Contributions processes and actions.
You can use the new simulate feature to test approval rule changes without having to create and submit any new transactions. This way, you can debug and incrementally build conditional logic for approval rules and instantaneously see the effect of the change.

Action in Transaction Design Studio is Corrected to Individual Compensation
When configuring rules in Transaction Design Studio, you now see the action as Individual Compensation instead of Manage Compensation.
This enhancement makes sure that action names are consistent in the application and Transaction Design Studio, removing confusion.
Steps to Enable
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.
New Budget Validation Options When Allocating Compensation
We've made some changes and additions to prevent managers from submitting their plans when their budgets are out of line. Within the When Over Budget list of values, we separated the Error option into these 3 options:
- Error preventing Save & Submit
- Error preventing Submit
- Error preventing Submit, Warn on Save
We renamed the existing Warn option to Warn on Save and Submit to indicate that people receive the warning when they submit and save.
We added a new configuration option to prevent managers from submitting their budgets if they are under budget. The available options are:
- No Validation
- Error preventing Submit
- Warn on Submit
No Validation is the default option for existing plans as well as new ones.
This feature lets administrators make sure managers don't leave remaining budget amounts before they submit their plans. It also offers more options to prevent managers from submitting when they are over budget.
Steps to Enable
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.
Tips And Considerations
When there's more than one pool in the same plan, errors take precedence over warnings.
Filter Workforce Compensation Worksheet Setup Columns
Use new filters to more easily find worksheet columns in plan setup. The new filters appear on the toolbar of the Detail Table tab in task setup:
The filter options available for Column Groups are the same as the column group headings:
The Columns filter is based upon column configuration:
After you select an option, those columns appear in a shortened view:
This feature lets administrators and implementers find columns more quickly in plan setup.
Steps to Enable
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.
Include Allocations of 0 in Summary Totals
You can now count allocations of 0 in summary totals. We added a new configuration option to the Compensation Amount columns in plan setup:
When you select this option before starting a Workforce Compensation plan cycle and some people receive 0 allocations, the summary include those allocations in the summary counts:
These features also display 0 allocations as a part of summary totals:
- Individual Worker Display Summary
- Exported Workbook Summary
- Landing Page Analytics
This feature lets you see all the allocations in the summary totals.
Steps to Enable
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.
Tips And Considerations
If you select the new configuration option while the plan is open to allocations, we recommend you run the Refresh Workforce Compensation Data process and select the Refresh summary totals option.
Create Optional Standard Component as a Part of Workforce Compensation Transfer
We enhanced the Workforce Compensation Transfer process. When you transfer salary updates to HR to people with salary bases configured with standard components, you now receive fewer errors when a standard component used in rates distribution wasn't part of a person's current salary. The transfer process creates the optional standard component and applies the update amount. Previously if the standard component wasn't part of a person's salary the transfer process would fail for them.
This feature reduces the number of errors in the transfer process for those people with salary bases of the type "Salary amount is determined by simple components"
Steps to Enable
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.
Removal of Defaulted Column Configuration
When you create a new plan, only the Worker Name column is enabled by default for these task types:
- Compensation
- Detail Table Only
- Promotion
- Performance
Administrators need to explicitly choose other columns to be displayed in these worksheet tasks.
This feature saves time for administrators because they don't need to disable unneeded columns.
Steps to Enable
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.
Tips And Considerations
When creating a new task of the types listed above in an existing plan, the new task will see the same behavior.
View Grade Step Changes In Promotion Counts
We made it easy for you to see Grade Step changes as a part of promotion data. Previously, this was not possible. 2 new columns have been added in the Approvals task type setup that will allow you to display these changes:
Approval Task > Worker Details Columns > Promotions node
Approval Task > Columns > Promotions grouping > Workers with Changes node
We updated these reports and analytics to automatically include grade step changes:
- Promotions task summary analytics
- Promotion Overview manager report
- Promotion Summary administrator report
This feature lets people review grade step changes as a part of promotions.
Steps to Enable
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.
Tips And Considerations
You don't need to configure anything in the Promotion task type. Updates to the Proposed Grade Step column are included in Promotion summary counts.
Use Grade Step Values in Compensation Change Statements
We've added the new Grade Step columns as attributes that can be used in compensation change statements. Previously, you had to use fast formulas and user-defined columns. The new attributes added are:
- Grade Step
- Grade Ladder
- Proposed Grade Step
People don't have to use fast formulas and user-defined columns to show people information about their grade step changes in Workforce Compensation.
Steps to Enable
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.
Tips And Considerations
You can find the all attributes template in plan setup: Compensation Change Statements> Manage Statement Groups> Manage Templates> Sample Templates
View Additional Person Information On Worker Statement Actions Report
You can now see person and assignment number information when viewing the Worker Statement Actions Report. Previously, this information was not available on the report.
This enhancement lets administrators differentiate between people who have similar names or multiple assignments.
Steps to Enable
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.
Graphical Salary Range and Salary Range Differentials Display in Grade Step Progression
You can view a new graphical display of salary ranges when reviewing grade step progression results. And ranges are now adjusted when the salary basis configuration includes salary range differentials.
When you drill down on a person's assignment while reviewing grade step progression results on the Review Proposed Progressions and Salary Updates detail page, you see both current and proposed values. The bottom of each column includes a graphical display of the salary range with a slider showing where the current or proposed salary fits in the range. This new graphic is a visual presentation of the information in the preceding Salary and Salary Range fields. Here's an example.
Also in this update, we adjust the salary range if the salary basis configuration includes salary range differentials. Previously the ranges didn't reflect salary range differentials.
With this enhancement you can more easily visualize proposed salaries.
Steps to Enable
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.
Tips And Considerations
The ranges won't display in these conditions:
- There's no grade rate associated with the salary basis
- The grade isn't in the grade rate associated with the salary basis
Key Resources
For more information, see these chapters in the Implementing Compensation guide:
- Base Pay Overview

Default Salary from Grade Ladder When There's a Future Salary Record
You can now default a person's salary from the grade ladder, in HR actions when there's a future salary record. Previously, you saw a warning message if a future salary record existed, and you had to update the salary separately.
The example here shows a Change Assignment action. You change the grade or step and then move to the salary section. Two warning messages appear. The first message says that one or more future salary records exist, so the proposed salary will apply only to the closest future salary start date. The second message says that there's a future salary record so the salary isn't updated from the grade ladder. The current salary is 8,000 and the proposed salary is the same. You can directly update the salary here, but it won't default from the grade ladder. Keep in mind that the salary update will apply only to the closest future salary start date, as indicated by the first warning message. You may need to separately review and update the future records.
If you want to the salary to default from the grade ladder when there's a future salary update, you can change the configuration to allow the update. Using the example Change Assignment action, you change the grade or step and move to the salary section. Now you only see the first warning message. The current salary is 8,000 and the proposed salary is 8,800, which defaulted from the grade ladder. The 8,800 salary will apply only to the closest future salary start date, as indicated by the first warning message. You may need to separately review and update the future records.
With this enhancement, you can complete salary updates in fewer steps.
Steps to Enable
- In the Setup and Maintenance work area, click the Configure Global Compensation Settings task.
- Offering: Compensation Management
- Functional area: Base Pay
- Scroll to the Grade Step Progression section of the page.
- Under Default Salary from Grade Ladder Rates, deselect the Prevent salary default when salary record exists with a future date check box.
- This section used to be named Online Settings. It was renamed as part of this update.
Tips And Considerations
- The new configuration impacts salary defaulting in only HR actions. For example, Hire an Employee and Change Assignment are HR actions.
- There's a similar setting for grade step progression batch processes, introduced in the 19C Update, under the Batch Error Conditions for Salary Date heading.
Key Resources
For more information about defaulting salary from a grade ladder, see the Default Salary from Grade Ladder Rates chapter.
Grade Step Progression Diagnostics
We added a diagnostic test for grade step progression that looks for three types of data anomalies:
- Assignment Grade Step Records with Start Date Before Assignment Start Date
- Assignment Grade Step Records with Overlapping Effective Dates
- Assignment and Work Term Actions Not in Sync
You can run the Grade Step Progression Diagnostics test in the Diagnostic Dashboard. Supply an input parameter of either Grade Ladder or Person Number.
With this enhancement, improve your ability to find and correct data errors.
Steps to Enable
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.
Key Resources
For more information about diagnostic tests, see the following documentation:
- Using Common Features guide: Troubleshoot Issues
- My Oracle Support Document ID 2408220.1: Self-Service Data Integrity Framework for Global Human Resources Flows
- Refer to the attachment: Accessing the Diagnostic Framework
Role And Privileges
To access the diagnostic framework, you need the Application Diagnostics Administrator role.
Total Compensation Statement: Payroll Balance Enhancements
Now you can use the additional dimension level period types of Fiscal Year to Date, Inception to date, and Rolling 12 months, if payroll balances are a source for your Total Compensation Statements. Previously, only pay Period to Date and calendar Year to Date were available. We've added the new dimensions to the list of values.
Here are examples of the new dimension level period types:
Fiscal Year to Date FYEAR |
|
Inception to Date LIFETIME |
|
Rolling 12 Months R12MTH |
|
Extend your ability to display payroll balances in Total Compensation Statements, by using the additional dimension level period types of Fiscal Year to Date, Inception to Date, and Rolling 12 Months.
Steps to Enable
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.
Tips And Considerations
The dimensions you see in the Dimensions list of values, depends on the payroll balance definition. Not all of the Payroll Legislations support every dimension level period type.
Market Data: View Market Composites Chart
We've added a chart to View Market Composites. Now you can more easily visualize lower and upper limits, as well as target values. We recommend you use the chart with the 10th, 50th, 90th percentiles enabled, along with the target. The chart renders in most cases. See tips below for details. You can enable or disable the chart in Configure Market Composites Display.
Enhance your experience in View Market Composites with the addition of a chart that provides visual representation of the data.
Steps to Enable
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.
Tips And Considerations
Here are conditions where the chart renders and is available based upon your configuration.

Market Data: New Location HSDL for Composites
You can use a new HSDL template to load all locations at once. Previously you had to parse locations into separate HSDL loads or they would fail. We redesigned the Create Import Template button as a choice list. Now, select either Load by Segment, or Load by Location.
Simplify loading composites with the new HSDL template for loading by location.

New Duty Role to Secure the Individual Compensation Subject Area
We added 2 new duty roles in addition to the existing ones. Before the current release, Compensation - Individual Compensation Real Time subject area was secured by these duty roles:
- FBI_COMPENSATION_TRANSACTION_ANALYSIS_DUTY
- ORA_FBI_COMPENSATION_TRANSACTION_ANALYSIS_DUTY_HCM
- FBI_PAYROLL_TRANSACTION_ANALYSIS_DUTY
- ORA_FBI_PAYROLL_TRANSACTION_ANALYSIS_DUTY_HCM
Now customers don't have to do any additional security setup if the user has any of the job roles like Compensation Manager, Compensation Analyst or Line Manager. The new duty roles are:
- FBI_INDIVIDUAL_COMPENSATION_TRANSACTION_ANALYSIS_DUTY
- ORA_FBI_INDIVIDUAL_COMPENSATION_TRANSACTION_ANALYSIS_DUTY_HCM
These enhancements improve people's access to and reporting on the Compensation - Individual Compensation Real Time subject area with 2 new duty roles. Along with existing duty roles, the new role secures this subject area.

Reporting on Internal Child Job Details Associated to the Survey Data Benchmark Job
You can now use the subject area Compensation - Market Data Real Time to view the details of the child jobs associated to the survey data benchmark job. A new folder named Internal Child Job is added under Market Survey Job. This folder includes attributes related to child jobs.
Here's an example:
- Survey job S1 can be linked to only one internal job J1.
- This mapped internal job J1 can be mapped to multiple child jobs C1,C2,C3.
- You can view details for the child jobs C1,C2,C3 mapped to the internal job j1.
Note: The column named Description under Market Survey Job has been renamed as Job Match Notes. The renaming of this column doesn't cause any regression.
You can enhance reporting on the compensation market survey data, with the inclusion of the internal child processes associated with the benchmark or parent process.
