Autocomplete Rules for HCM Experience Design Studio Enhancements
Enhance your users' experience authoring new rules in Autocomplete Rules for HCM Experience Design Studio with the capabilities below:
- Read a user defined table (UDT). Using the new global function, you can now get a unique value according to any custom mapping, for example, don't allow salary greater than the rate amount defined for jobs and grades, or both in a hire an employee transaction.
This table lists the delivered global function to access user defined table (UDT) for some variable types:
Variable Data Type |
Global Function Name |
Comments |
---|---|---|
String |
Get string value from value set |
The function returns any text including numbers. |
Integer |
Get number value from value set |
The function returns a number without decimals. |
Long |
Get number value from value set |
The function returns a number without decimals. |
Decimal |
Get number value from value set |
The function returns a number with or without decimals. |
Date |
Get date value from value set |
The function returns a valid date in yyyy-mm-dd format. |
These are the parameters to get value from user defined table (UDT):
Parameter |
Value |
---|---|
1 |
ORA_HRC_ACR_GET_VALUE_FROM_UDT |
2 |
Legislative Data Group (LDG) Name in English. It must match the value selected in the Use Defined Table. Pass it null string in case there is no LDG in the User Defined Table. Example: US Legislative Data Group |
3 |
Date reference in a string format yyyy-mm-dd. |
4 |
User Defined Table Name |
5 |
User Defined Column Name |
6 |
User Defined Row Name |
For more information about User-Defined Table configuration check User Defined Tables documentation.
- Read transaction approval state. Using the new global function, you can now skip your Autocomplete validation rules during some states in the approval workflow, for example, validate hire date is in the future during the initial submit but skip the validation even if the approver edits the transaction some time later or the approver approves it and the hire date is in the past when these actions are performed.
Use this parameters to get the current state of the transaction global function.
Parameter Data Type |
Value |
---|---|
Row |
Object instance to be passed, can be current autocomplete business object or its associated rows. |
Current states of the transaction used by the global function:
State Value | Description |
---|---|
Initial submit |
The fresh changes being submitted for approval for the first time. The function returns phase as "Initial submit" until first submit is done. It means if function is called on save (prior to submit), still the phase shows as "Initial submit" |
Edit by approver |
Approver has done edit from notification and is submitting changes. The function returns phase as "Edit by approver" when submit is clicked after editing the transaction. |
Request for information |
Approver sent back to the originator and the originator submits their response. The function returns phase as "Request for information" when submit is clicked when responding to RFI and not when RFI is raised from notification. To launch edit during RFI, there is Edit Info button. When you click this button and on subsequent changes and submit the transaction, the global function will return phase as "Request for information" |
Final approval |
Approver process is complete and changes are in the process of committed in the data base. The function returns phase as "Final approval" when submit is clicked by the final approver. |
The new global function can be used by any business object in a responsive page where approval is enabled, including:
- Document of Records Flow
- Employment Flows
- Job Offer Flows
- Person Self-Service Flows
- Position Flows
- Salary Change Flow
These features help in these ways:
- Ensure accurate and consistent data by validating the user-entered values.
- Allow your organizations to adjust quickly with HR compliance without relying on new release updates.
Steps to Enable
To enable this feature you need to log a Service Request (SR).
To enable Autocomplete Rules in the HCM Experience Design Studio, you need to log a Service Request (SR). Please review and follow the instructions provided in the My Oracle Support document, Enabling Oracle HCM Cloud Autocomplete Rules (Document ID 2767655.1) to get access.

Enable Guided Journeys for the Rebuilt Redwood Pages
Help users in doing their HR transactions efficiently by providing guidance such as tutorials, company policies, and best practices using guided journey tasks.
For example, you want to configure a page level guided journey for the Employment Info page and a section level guided journey for the Seniority Dates section. So, when your HR specialist navigates to the page, they can access:
- Analytics about the worker's career and salary's progression at the page level,
- Seniority Dates policies at the Seniority Dates section level.
Provide guidance to users in the context of the transactions they perform based on their role.
Steps to Enable
In this example, we will configure a page level guided journey for the Employment Info page and a section level guided journey for the Seniority Dates section.
To enable guided journeys, do the following:
- Navigate to the Employment Info Page. Go to the VB Studio for which you want to set up a guided journey, for example, the Employment Info page.

Nudges remind managers and employees to perform important tasks such as scheduling check-ins, assigning goals and so on.
You can configure nudges to be displayed as cards on pages. When a nudge recipient clicks the card, they are navigated to the specific page where they can complete the task.
With this feature, you can:
- Define nudges as transaction cards for your employees and specify the criteria for triggering these nudges.
- Optionally, assign a priority for each nudge. The nudges will be displayed in the order of importance.
This feature ensures that managers and employees perform important tasks in a timely manner. Nudges remind them to act on pending tasks and provide easy navigation to the relevant pages of the application.
For example, organizations require managers to perform timely check-ins with their employees. By configuring a nudge, you can remind a manager who wants to view the salary history of an employee that a check-in is overdue. When the manager opens the Employment Info page, a nudge is displayed to schedule a check-in. On clicking the nudge, the manager is directed to the Check-Ins page where a check-in can be scheduled.
Steps to Enable
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.
Access Requirements
- You need the Nudge Configuration, ORA_PER_NUDGE_CONFIGURATION_DUTY duty role to access the Nudge Configuration work area.
- You need the Use REST Service - Nudge Cards, ORA_PER_REST_SERVICE_ACCESS_NUDGE_CARDS aggregate privilege to view nudges as transaction cards in the pages.
These predefined roles have the required duty role and aggregate privilege:

If you’ve other roles that need access to configuring nudges, grant the required duty role and aggregate privileges to those roles.
This section covers features used across all HCM Applications.
Primary Work Relationship Information in Atom Feeds
The following Atom feeds in the employee workspace are enhanced with the work relationship primary flag. The PrimaryFlag attribute is present in the Context section of the Atom entries. Value Y indicates that the event pertains to a primary work relationship of an employee and value N indicates otherwise.
- employee/termination
- employee/cancelworkrelship
- employee/workrelshipupdate
Determine whether an event pertains to the primary work relationship of an employee by verifying the PrimaryFlag attribute in the Atom feed response.
Steps to Enable
Review the REST service definition in the REST API guides to leverage (available from the Oracle Help Center > your apps service area of interest > APIs & Schema). If you are new to Oracle's REST services you may want to begin with the Quick Start section.
Key Resources
- For more information, see the REST API for Oracle Fusion Cloud HCM guide on the Oracle Help Center.
Total Results Count in Atom Feeds
In addition to returning a page of Atom entries, Oracle HCM Cloud Atom feeds can now return the total count of results matching the query with the filters provided.
To include the total count of results in the Atom feeds response, set the totalResults query parameter to true. The value of the totalResults attribute in the response shows the total count.
Verify how many Atom feed entries are processed in the given run.
Steps to Enable

Transaction Console Data Cache Corrector
In continuation of the Data Cache Corrector feature introduced in 22C, you can now edit corrupted data cache of multiple faulted or stuck transactions using Edit Data Cache in the Transaction Console.
Before you begin, ensure that users performing this operation have the necessary security access to view the Edit Data Cache menu option. See the Role section.
In the Transaction Console, select the stuck transactions you want to edit and then select Actions > Edit Data Cache.
IMPORTANT: It's strongly recommended to use this feature only under the guidance of Oracle Support and be enabled only for such duration.
When editing multiple transactions, the transactions must belong to the same process, else the Edit Data Cache option doesn’t display in the Actions menu.
You can enter the XML path to update in Path to Node. You can then enter the new value based on the data type. If there is a mismatch between the new value and the data type, an error message displays.
If you add a new path, you need to enter the new value and use Add Node for each of the transactions. Similarly, if you edit an existing path, you need to use Edit Node for each of the transactions.
When you submit a batch of edited transactions, the transaction ID displays to indicate that.
After you submit changes, if you want to revert to the initial state, you can use Revert Data Cache Changes. This button is enabled only if there are changes to the data cache.
This feature eliminates the need for a patch fix or a data fix script for the transactions that have been stuck due to the corrupted data cache.
Steps to Enable
The Edit Data Cache action is hidden by default. You need to create the HCM_EDIT_DATA_CACHE_ENABLE profile option and enable it.
Profile Option Code |
Default Value |
---|---|
HCM_EDIT_DATA_CACHE_ENABLE |
False |
To create the default profile option value follow these steps:
- Navigate to the Setup and Maintenance work area.
- Search for and click the Manage Profile Options task.
- Click to create a new profile option and then go to Create Profile Option page.
- Enter the profile option code and profile display name as HCM_EDIT_DATA_CACHE_ENABLE.
- Select Global Human Resources in Application.
- Select HCM Common Architecture in module.
- Provide the start date and click Save.
- In the Profile Option Levels, select Enabled and Updatable for Site, Product, and User.
- After you complete steps 1-8, the HCM_EDIT_DATA_CACHE_ENABLE profile option will be available for selection in the Manage Administrator Profile Values task.
- Select the profile option in the Profile Values section, set the value to True.
Tips And Considerations
- If you select different transactions, then the Actions menu doesn’t display the Edit Data Cache option.
- You can perform only one operation at a time for selected transactions. You can either edit or add a new xpath. You can’t perform both actions at the same time.
- The Revert Data Cache Changes button is enabled only if you have made changes to the data cache.
- If you enter an invalid path then an error message displays.
Key Resources
- For more information, see the Workflow Notifications and Approvals chapter in the Using HCM Common Features guide.
Access Requirements
You need to grant administrators the Review Approval Transactions (PER_REVIEW_APPROVAL_TRANSACTIONS) privilege to view the menu option.
Enhancements to Transaction Console Diagnostic Log
Make use of the enhancements to the Transaction Console diagnostic log that now includes these two sections:
- Task Level Configuration
- Transaction History
You can view these sections when you download the diagnostic log from any pending or error transaction details page in the Transaction Console.
Task Level Configuration
This section lists details of task configuration in BPM Worklist for the process type of the selected transaction. The details that display in this section are for the current configuration of the task and not from the time the transaction was initiated.
Transaction History
This section lists all the approval stages through which a transaction has passed based on the approval rule configuration.
When diagnosing an issue, users can quickly get a snapshot of the task configuration and approval history in one place.
Steps to Enable
To create the default profile option value follow these steps:
- Navigate to the Setup and Maintenance work area.
- Search for and click the Manage Profile Options task.
- Click to create a new profile option.
- On the Create Profile Option page, specify the values indicated in this table for the new profile option:
Field | Value |
---|---|
Profile Option Code |
HRC_TXN_TAC_DISABLE_EXTN_LOG |
Profile Display Name |
A suitable display name such as Disable Diagnostic Log |
Application |
Global Human Resources |
Module |
HCM Common Architecture |
- Click Save and Close.
- On the Manage Profile Options page, select the Enabled and Updatable check boxes for the Site level.
- Click Save and Close.
To enable the HRC_TXN_TAC_DISABLE_EXTN_LOG profile option:
- In the Setup and Maintenance work area, search for the Manage Administrator Profile Values task.
- Click the Manage Administrator Profile Values task.
- Search for the profile option code HRC_TXN_TAC_DISABLE_EXTN_LOG.
- In the Profile Values section, set the Site value to False.
Tips And Considerations
- If the HRC_TXN_TAC_DISABLE_EXTN_LOG profile option is set to true, the Task Level Configuration and Transaction History sections won’t be included in the diagnostic log.
- If the existing HRC_TXN_TAC_DISABLE_RULE_AUDIT_TRAIL profile option to disable the audit trail segment along with rule details is set to true, the Task Level Configuration section isn’t included in the diagnostic log. If the profile option isn’t created or created and set to false then the Task Level Configuration section is omitted and only the Transaction History section is included.
- If HRC_TXN_TAC_DISABLE_EXTN_LOG is set to false and HRC_TXN_TAC_DISABLE_RULE_AUDIT_TRAIL is set to true, the Task Level Configuration section is omitted and only the Transaction History is included in the log.

Tips And Considerations
Use the View Business Objects task to review and download the latest business object information.
Configure Business Object Post Processes
You can now configure, review and monitor the processes that HDL automatically submits after successfully loading data.
Configuring Post Processes
The Configure HCM Data Loader page now includes the Business Object Post Processes tab, where you can review the processes available for automated submission by HDL. For processes that support it, you can disable automated submission for all the data loads of a business object or individual files.
To enable or disable the automated submission of a process for all data loads of a business object:
- Filter by Business Object.
- Select the process to configure and review the value under the Default column.
- A value of Yes indicates that the process will be automatically submitted whenever HDL or HSDL successfully loads data for that business object.
- A value of No indicates the process won't ever be submitted.
- If supported, you can overwrite the default by defining a value in the Override column.
Some processes allow you to disable their automated submission for an individual file. It is achieved by including the SET DISABLE_POST_PROCESS_TASKS instruction at the top of the business object .dat file. To identify which processes to disable, specify the task name defined for the process.
For example: SET DISABLE_POST_PROCESS_TASKS RefreshManagerHierachy
Reviewing Post Processes Submitted by HDL
Navigate to the Processes page from the Import and Load Data task, you'll see a Manage HCM Data Loader Post Processes entry for each business object for which the post processes are submitted. Expand this row to see the details of the individual processes submitted.
Review and control which processes are submitted after loading data with HDL and HSDL.
Steps to Enable
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.
Tips And Considerations
The Task Name on the Business Objects Post Processes page will be blank for processes that don't support being disabled for individual files. On upgrading, the previously initiated processes will automatically continue to run.
Review your stage table capacity for both HDL and HSDL using the Stage Table Capacity Used indicator, which is now available on these pages:
HCM Data Loader
- Recent File Loads
- Delete Stage Table Data
HCM Spreadsheet Data Loader
- Recent Spreadsheet Loads
- Delete Spreadsheet Stage Table Data
The Stage Table Capacity Used tile indicates the percentage of stage table capacity used. You may experience slower processing times as this percentage increases.
It's now easier to monitor the capacity of your HDL and HSDL staging tables.
Steps to Enable
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.
Key Resources
- For more information how managing stage table capacity, refer to this resource on the Oracle Help Center: Overview of Maintaining the Stage Tables.
Access Error Files Directly from the Oracle WebCenter Content Server
Access generated error files directly from the Oracle WebCenter Content server, in addition to the Import and Load Data task.
On the Import and Load Data page, initiate the file generation for a data set or a single business object within a data set by clicking the Extract Failed Lines button on the table toolbar.
When submitting the file generation request, specify if the error messages are to be included and the type of encryption to be used for the Oracle WebCenter Content server file.
The Content ID of the Oracle WebCenter Content server file is available in the Error File Content ID column.
Provide access to generated error files from the Oracle WebCenter Content server when your users don't have HCM Data Loader access.
Steps to Enable
Use the Configure HCM Data Loader task, available from Setup and Maintenance.
To enable the generation of error files, override the default for the Enable File Generation for Failed File Lines parameter:
To enable access to generated error files from the Oracle WebCenter Content server, override the default for the Enable Oracle WebCenter Content Access to Error Files parameter:
Tips And Considerations
If you choose not to encrypt the generated error file, only one version of the file is generated. It is accessible from both the Import and Load Data page and the Oracle WebCenter Content server.
If you encrypt the generated error file, two versions are created: one with the specified encryption, accessed only from the Oracle WebCenter Content server, and the other is encrypted by HDL with decrypted access only from the Import and Load Data task.
When the ability to access the generated error files from the Oracle WebCenter Content server is disabled, generated error files are still held on the Oracle WebCenter Content server but encrypted by HDL and are unreadable unless downloaded from the Import and Load task.
Extend your reporting capabilities for the HCM Data Loader and HCM Spreadsheet Data Loader with the introduction of this new folder in the HCM Real Time Integrations subject area of OTBI:
- Process Parameters
Parameter values that are vital for auditing are now retained after the stage data is deleted for a data set.
You can audit bulk data loads to identify potentially fraudulent behavior after the data set has been deleted.
Steps to Enable
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.
Key Resources
- Download the HCM Data Loader Dashboard from the HCM Report Sharing Center on Cloud Customer Connect.
HCM Extracts provide a method for extracting data from your HCM applications that can be used for interfacing data to another source or extracting data to integrate reporting across systems.
Reduced Retention Period for Data Archives
Enhance your database space utilization and improve the efficiency of extract runs with a shorter retention period for data archives.
With the retention period reduced from 90 days to 7 days, the archive data older than 7 days are automatically purged to free the data storage space and enhance the data extraction speed.
Steps to Enable
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.
Oracle Applications Security provides a single console where IT Security Managers and Administrators can perform various functions including user lifecycle management, role definition, security policy management(both functional and data), role hierarchy maintenance, username and password policy administration, and certificate management. The console also enables users to simulate the effect of security changes, to run security reports, and download a connector for integration with Microsoft Active Directory.
View and Regenerate the Access Control List for a User
IT Security Managers can now diagnose security issues related to Oracle Search's Access Control List (ACL) from the HCM Data Security Preview page. IT Security Managers can perform the following:
- Determine a user's ACL count
- Regenerate a selected user's ACL
- Create a diagnostic log file that can be used to upload to Oracle Support
We've expanded the Preview HCM Data page for Oracle Search by adding a Secured Access Using Oracle Search subsection. In this subsection, you can view the ACL for a selected user and a given data security privilege/resource combination. You can regenerate the ACL for a user or create a diagnostic log for debugging with Oracle Support.
You now have additional diagnostic tools available through the Preview HCM Data Security page.
Steps to Enable
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.
Tips And Considerations
- This feature is applicable only for Oracle Search customers who have enabled advanced search capabilities for any of the following lists of values: Worker, Position, Jobs, Departments, or Locations.
- Creating a diagnostic log may take some time to run depending on the selected user’s intended data access, i.e., viewing everyone in the organization except for themselves.
- If you attempt to create a diagnostic log for multiple users using different browsers, the log files will be created consecutively. Multiple log files won't be created simultaneously.
Key Resources
For more information on setup, see the Workers List of Values Enhanced by Oracle Search feature in the 23B What's New.
Access Requirements
This enhancement impacts the IT Security Manager role.

From time to time, Oracle replaces existing Cloud service features with new features or removes existing features. When a feature is replaced the older version may be removed immediately or at a future time. As a best practice, you should use the newer version of a replaced feature as soon as the newer version is available.

KNOWN ISSUES / MAINTENANCE PACK SPREADSHEETS
Oracle publishes a Known Issues document for every Update to make customers are aware of potential problems they could run into and the document provides workarounds if they are available.
Oracle also publishes Maintenance Pack and Statutory Maintenance Pack documentation of bugs that are fixed in the monthly or statutory patching.
To review these documents you must have access to My Oracle Support:

Controlled Availability for HCM Common
The following is a list of Controlled Availability features that are being offered by our Controlled Availability Program.
NOTE: These features are not generally available for all customers at this time. These are only available through the Controlled Availability Program and will require approval to become a part of the features program. To be a part of these programs you will be required to participate in testing and providing feedback. Some programs may require other participation as well.
Not to worry if you don't have to time to be a part of these early stage programs. You can uptake this feature when it is generally available for all customers. When these features are available for all customers you will see the features under their product headings as usual.
We invite you all to browse through the list of features to see if there are any features you are interested in implementing in advance of the features scheduled release. The table below will provide information on signing up for features. Please sign up soon, as these programs have limited availability and some are designed for specific types of customers.
The table below gives you a brief description of the features available and how to sign up. Some features are bigger than others, so for more information there may be a What's New describing the feature in more detail below this table.
We look forward to hearing your thoughts and ideas as you participate the Controlled Availability programs!

Get News Feed Suggestions On Your Next Likely Actions | Get suggestions on your next likely actions in your news feed layout. This feature is currently in Controlled Availability and is available in Oracle Fusion Cloud HCM, Financials, Project Management, and Procurement. Artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms predict and suggest the actions each user is most likely to take during a session. The algorithms use historic navigation behavior and patterns of each user and users like them to determine which navigation target they’re most likely to visit. |
