OPTIONAL UPTAKE OF NEW FEATURES (OPT IN)
Oracle Cloud Applications delivers new updates every quarter. This means every three months you'll receive new functionality to help you efficiently and effectively manage your business. Some features are delivered Enabled meaning they are immediately available to end users. Other features are delivered Disabled meaning you have to take action to make available. Features delivered Disabled can be activated for end users by stepping through the following instructions using the following privileges:
- Review Applications Offering (ASM_REVIEW_APPLICATIONS_OFFERINGS_PRIV)
- Configure Oracle Fusion Applications Offering (ASM_CONFIGURE_OFFERING_PRIV)
Here’s how you opt in to new features:
- Click Navigator > My Enterprise > New Features.
- On the Features Overview page, select your offering to review new features specific to it. Or, you can leave the default selection All Enabled Offerings to review new features for all offerings.
- On the New Features tab, review the new features and check the opt-in status of the feature in the Enabled column. If a feature has already been enabled, you will see a check mark. Otherwise, you will see an icon to enable the feature.
- Click the icon in the Enabled column and complete the steps to enable the feature.
For more information and detailed instructions on opting in to new features for your offering, see Offering Configuration.
OPT IN EXPIRATION
Occasionally, features delivered Disabled via Opt In may be enabled automatically in a future update. This is known as an Opt In Expiration. If your cloud service has any Opt In Expirations you will see a related tab in this document. Click on that tab to see when the feature was originally delivered Disabled, and when the Opt In will expire, potentially automatically enabling the feature. You can also click here to see features with Opt In Expirations across all Oracle Cloud Applications.
Column Definitions:
Report = New or modified, Oracle-delivered, ready to run reports.
UI or Process-Based: Small Scale = These UI or process-based features are typically comprised of minor field, validation, or program changes. Therefore, the potential impact to users is minimal.
UI or Process-Based: Larger Scale* = These UI or process-based features have more complex designs. Therefore, the potential impact to users is higher.
Features Delivered Disabled = Action is needed BEFORE these features can be used by END USERS. These features are delivered disabled and you choose if and when to enable them. For example, a) new or expanded BI subject areas need to first be incorporated into reports, b) Integration is required to utilize new web services, or c) features must be assigned to user roles before they can be accessed.
Ready for Use by End Users Reports plus Small Scale UI or Process-Based new features will have minimal user impact after an update. Therefore, customer acceptance testing should focus on the Larger Scale UI or Process-Based* new features. |
Customer Must Take Action before Use by End Users Not disruptive as action is required to make these features ready to use. As you selectively choose to leverage, you set your test and roll out timing. |

Use Guardrails for Plan Configuration
Use guardrails in the compensation plan work area that provide warnings to plan administrators if their plan configuration isn't ideal and could potentially cause issues in downstream processes like calculation and plan deployment. Warnings include assigning the same credit category to multiple performance measures in the same component or assigning a credit category to a performance measure when it isn't required.
This feature discourages non-ideal plan configuration.
Steps to Enable
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.
Tips And Considerations
These are merely warnings and don't prevent the plan administrator from ignoring them. However, if a plan administrator chooses to ignore warnings, they risk performance degradation in downstream processes like calculation and plan deployment.
Key Resources
- See the "Plans and Plan Components" chapter in the Using Incentive Compensation guide.
Role Information
- Incentive Compensation Plan Administrator
The first half of the classification process that determines the credit category has always been multi-threaded. But now the entire process is multi-threaded, including updating the transaction or credit with the credit category. This means better performance for the classification process and more efficient use of the resources available when there are many records that require updates.
Faster classification means faster execution of sales operations tasks and improved efficiency.
Steps to Enable
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.
Key Resources
- See the "Credit, Rollup, and Classification Processing" chapter in the Using Incentive Compensation guide.
Role Information

- Incentive Compensation Analyst
Calculate by Participant Using Web Service
Submit the calculation web service by specific participant or participants in a plan or paygroup. Using this enhanced calculation SOAP service, you can now limit running calculations to only specific participants, just like in the user interface. This means that when you run calculations using SOAP services, you're no longer restricted to running it for all participants, which results in improved efficiency.
Reduce redundancy and improve efficiency by calculating only participants you want to calculate for when you're automating the calculation process.
Steps to Enable
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.
Key Resources
- See the SOAP Web Services for CX Sales and B2B Service guide.
Role Information
- Incentive Compensation Analyst

The plan objectives functionality in compensation plans is now deprecated. If you have incentives based on objectives, it's recommended to configure it as a plan component.
Build objectives easily using the regular and more flexible plan component functionality.
Steps to Enable
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.
Key Resources
- See the "Plans and Plan Components" chapter in the Using Incentive Compensation guide.

Troubleshoot Invalid Expressions
Troubleshoot invalid expressions by easily viewing a log file that displays the error occurring when creating an expression. The View Log link appears only when the expression is invalid. Click the View Log link and view the log messages by exporting the log to Excel.
Easily troubleshoot issues with invalid expressions.
Steps to Enable
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.
Key Resources
- See the "Expressions" chapter in the Using Incentive Compensation guide.
Use the enhanced credit rule import to import credit rules faster, especially when the volume of qualifying criteria data is high.
Reduce your sales operations task cycle times and improve efficiency by using a faster credit rule import, especially when you have a high volume of qualifying attribute values.
Steps to Enable
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.
Key Resources
See this content:
- "Credit, Rollup, Classification, and Assignment Rules" chapter in the Using Incentive Compensation guide.

Use Faster Deploy Credit Rules
Use the enhanced Deploy Credit Rules process to deploy credit rules faster, especially when the volume of qualifying criteria data is high.
Deploy credit rules faster for quicker end-to-end processing.
Steps to Enable
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.
Key Resources
- See the "Credit, Rollup, Classification, and Assignment Rules" chapter in the Using Incentive Compensation guide.
View Progress of Crediting Process
View the progress of the crediting process and estimated time of completion. Get emails at different phases of crediting which mention how many transactions are being processed, how many credits are being created, and the estimated time for completion.
Use this feature to plan your operations better with the estimates as well as identify any anomalies with crediting as early as possible.
Steps to Enable
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.
Tips And Considerations
The feature estimates completion times based on similar historical runs. Estimations can only be provided when there are enough similar historical runs in your environment.

Manage Information Copied from Parent
Allow administrators to manage the behavior when copying parent territory information to new child territories. This controls whether the extensible sales territory and sales territory resource field values are copied or not copied to a new child territory. This also controls whether the extensible sales territory child object field values are copied or not copied to a new child territory.
Customers have additional flexibility when creating child territories. This is particularly useful when the sales territory has been extended to capture change information when making updates to territories.
Steps to Enable
- Navigate to Setup and Maintenance in the Sales offering and search for the task, Manage Administrator Profile Values.
- Search for the Copy Extensible Fields from Parent (ORA_MOT_COPY_EXT_FIELDS_FROM_PARENT) profile option.
- Set the site-level profile option to No if you don't want to copy the sales territory and sales territory resource extensible field values from the parent territory when creating a child territory. The default value is set to Yes, which copies the extensible field values from the parent territory when creating a child territory.
Key Resources
- See the "Territories" chapter in the Implementing Sales guide.
Role Information
- Sales Administrator
Manage Hierarchy Setting for Customer Inclusions
Allow administrators to manage the behavior when adding customer inclusions and exclusions.
Customer inclusions are a significant benefit to customers who define sales representative ownership based on named accounts. This feature introduces additional flexibility to make inclusions even more useful for customers.
Steps to Enable
- Navigate to Setup and Maintenance in the Sales offering and search for the task, Manage Administrator Profile Values.
- Search for the Include Customer Hierarchy (ORA_MOT_INCLUDE_CUST_HIERARCHY) profile option.
- Set the site-level profile option to No if you don't want the Include Hierarchy option selected when adding a customer inclusion or exclusion. The default value is set to Yes, which selects the Include Hierarchy option when adding a customer inclusion or exclusion.
Key Resources
- See the "Territories" chapter in the Implementing Sales guide.
Role Information

IMPORTANT Actions and Considerations
IMPACT OF SAFARI 14 SECURITY AND PRIVACY CHANGES ON MASHUPS EMBEDDED INTO FUSION APPLICATIONS
Apple Safari 14 introduced new security and privacy changes that block third-party cookies. As a result, if you embed into Fusion Applications any mashup that requires a third-party (non-Oracle) identity provider, then the mashup doesn’t load at runtime in Safari 14. Users can avoid this issue by using Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox, although other browsers could introduce similar changes in the future. Safari users can also optionally disable the “Prevent cross-site tracking” privacy setting as a workaround.

POST-UPDATE TASKS
UPDATE APPLICATION COMPOSER CUSTOMIZATION TO THE LATEST ENHANCED BEHAVIOR
During your upgrade, most existing customizations made in Application Composer are automatically updated to the latest enhanced behavior in the new release. However, there are a few exceptions that require you to manually initiate the upgrade script for each of those customizations.
NOTE: Some upgrade tasks will not be removed from this page even after the upgrade is completed, as they are re-runnable for certain feature enhancements that are expected in future releases.
STEPS TO ENABLE
You must sign in as a user with an administrator role to perform these steps.
IMPORTANT: Do not perform these steps when there are pending changes in an active sandbox. Be sure to save and publish sandboxes with any changes you want to keep before proceeding, and delete any sandboxes that you do not intend to publish.
- Sign into the application.
- From the Navigator, select Sandboxes (under Configuration).
- Create a new sandbox and set it as the active sandbox. The current active sandbox displays at the top of the application.
- Go to: Navigator > Application Composer (under Configuration).
- From the Application drop-down list, select the first application whose metadata you want to upgrade, such as Common or Sales.
- From the navigation tree on the left, under Common Setup, click Metadata Manager.
NOTE: You need to upgrade the existing customization metadata for each application separately.
- Click Metadata Upgrade.
- By default, the list displays the Not Started upgrade items that you need to manually upgrade. Highlight the first row in the list, and then click the Upgrade button.
- Click OK in the confirmation dialog box. This process may take a couple of minutes. When the upgrade is done, the dialog box closes and the Upgrade Completed column shows an indicator.
- Repeat steps 7-8 for each row in the list.
- Repeat steps 4-8 for each application in the Application drop-down list in Application Composer.
- Publish the sandbox.
After the processes have completed, the application is ready to use.
