Optional Uptake of New Features (Opt In)

Oracle Cloud Applications delivers new updates every quarter. This means every three months you'll receive new functionality to help you efficiently and effectively manage your business. Some features are delivered Enabled meaning they are immediately available to end users. Other features are delivered Disabled meaning you have to take action to make available. Features delivered Disabled can be activated for end users by stepping through the following instructions using the following privileges:

  • Review Applications Offering (ASM_REVIEW_APPLICATIONS_OFFERINGS_PRIV)
  • Configure Oracle Fusion Applications Offering (ASM_CONFIGURE_OFFERING_PRIV)

Here’s how you opt in to new features:

  1. Click Navigator > My Enterprise > New Features.
  2. On the Features Overview page, select your offering to review new features specific to it. Or, you can leave the default selection All Enabled Offerings to review new features for all offerings.
  3. On the New Features tab, review the new features and check the opt-in status of the feature in the Enabled column. If a feature has already been enabled, you will see a check mark. Otherwise, you will see an icon to enable the feature.
  4. Click the icon in the Enabled column and complete the steps to enable the feature.

In some cases, you might want to opt in to a feature that's not listed in the New Features work area. Here's how to opt in:

  1. Click Navigator > My Enterprise > Offerings.
  2. On the Offerings page, select your offering, and then click Opt In Features.
  3. On the Opt In page, click the Edit Features (pencil) icon for the offering, or for the functional area that includes your feature.
  4. On the Edit Features page, complete the steps to enable the feature.

For more information and detailed instructions on opting in to new features for your offering, see Configure Offerings.

Opt In Expiration

Occasionally, features delivered Disabled via Opt In may be enabled automatically in a future update. This is known as an Opt In Expiration. If your cloud service has any Opt In Expirations you will see a related tab in this document. Click on that tab to see when the feature was originally delivered Disabled, and when the Opt In will expire, potentially automatically enabling the feature. You can also click here to see features with Opt In Expirations across all Oracle Cloud Applications.

Feature Summary

Column Definitions:

Report = New or modified, Oracle-delivered, ready to run reports.

UI or Process-Based: Small Scale = These UI or process-based features are typically comprised of minor field, validation, or program changes. Therefore, the potential impact to users is minimal.

UI or Process-Based: Larger Scale* = These UI or process-based features have more complex designs. Therefore, the potential impact to users is higher.

Features Delivered Disabled = Action is needed BEFORE these features can be used by END USERS. These features are delivered disabled and you choose if and when to enable them. For example, a) new or expanded BI subject areas need to first be incorporated into reports, b) Integration is required to utilize new web services, or c) features must be assigned to user roles before they can be accessed.

Ready for Use by End Users
(Feature Delivered Enabled)

Reports plus Small Scale UI or Process-Based new features will have minimal user impact after an update. Therefore, customer acceptance testing should focus on the Larger Scale UI or Process-Based* new features.

Customer Must Take Action before Use by End Users
(Feature Delivered Disabled)

Not disruptive as action is required to make these features ready to use. As you selectively choose to leverage, you set your test and roll out timing.

Supply Chain Orchestration

Supply Chain Orchestration

Extend the View Manual Reservations for Your Back-to-Back Sales Orders Feature

Extend the View Manual Reservations for Your Back-to-Back Sales Orders feature so you can view all of the reservations that you create manually in a back-to-back flow. Before this release, you could view manual reservations only for lines that have an Unassigned supply type on the supply order. Now you can view the supply orders, transfer orders, purchase orders, and work orders that fulfill all of your manual reservations even while Oracle Supply Chain Orchestration is still processing that supply. Also, before this release, you couldn't cancel a manual reservation when you cancel the order line. Now you can.

If a manual reservation might cause excess supply, then the Supply Orchestration work area displays a new icon on the supply line. If you hover over it, you'll see the Excess Supply text.

Quickly see what excess supply you have reserved for each sales order in your back-to-back flows.

Steps to Enable

You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.

Tips And Considerations

  • You must manually opt into the View Manual Reservations for Your Back-to-Back Sales Orders feature until update 24A.
  • Supply Chain Orchestration doesn't automatically modify a manual reservation for a change in demand that it receives from Oracle Order Management. You must manually modify the reservation.
  • The quantity for the work order, purchase request, or transfer order might be different from the reservation's quantity or the quantity on the supply or tracking line because other requests might also use the work order, purchase request, or transfer order.

Access Requirements

The feature is available to any privilege that can create and submit a sales order.

Users who are assigned a configured job role that contains these privileges can access this feature:

  • Initiate Order (FOM_CREATE_ORDER_PRIV)
  • Submit Order (FOM_SUBMIT_ORDER_PRIV)

Hold Changes from Manufacturing Until Purchase Orders Are Ready in Outside Processing Flows

Use Oracle Supply Chain Orchestration to temporarily hold the changes that you receive from Oracle Manufacturing. Use this feature in your outside processing flow when a work order or an operation undergoes change, but Oracle Purchasing hasn't created the purchase order or is revising it.

Here's how it works:

  1. A work order or an operation undergoes a change in your outside processing flow, and then Oracle Manufacturing sends an update request to Supply Chain Orchestration. Manufacturing might send another request each time a work order or operation undergoes change.
  1. If Purchasing hasn’t created the purchase order or is revising it, then Supply Chain Orchestration temporarily holds the update request.
  1. Purchasing creates or finishes revising the purchase order, and then Supply Chain Orchestration automatically sends the most recent update request that it has received from Oracle Manufacturing to Purchasing.

Increase your processing efficiency and prevent failures that happen when you send an update request to Purchasing. Instead of having Supply Chain Orchestration send every request that it receives from Manufacturing to Purchasing, wait until Purchasing creates or finishes revising the purchase order, then send only the latest request.

Steps to Enable

Use the Opt In UI to enable this feature. For instructions, refer to the Optional Uptake of New Features section of this document.

Offering: Manufacturing and Supply Chain Materials ManagementNo Longer Optional From: Update 24D

  • View Supply Order Exceptions and Status (DOS_VIEW_SUPPLY_ORDER_EXCEPTIONS_AND_STATUS_PRIV)

No new privileges were introduced to support this feature.

Use Redesigned Pages to Create Transfer Supply Requests

Use a redesigned page to help you create a transfer request on your desktop, tablet, or mobile device. Supply Chain Orchestration will display the supply source that provides the optimal fulfillment for your request, by default. You can accept the default supply source or pick another one from a list of sources when you create the request. You can create the request for a standard item or for an item that's part of a project.

Improve your user experience when you need to create a transfer request on your desktop, tablet, or mobile device.

Steps to Enable

Use the Opt In UI to enable this feature. For instructions, refer to the Optional Uptake of New Features section of this document.

Tips And Considerations

Here's some of the cool new stuff you can do:

  • Use the New Supply Request task in the Supply Chain Orchestration work area to create a transfer request.
  • Use the Manage Item Quantities task in the Inventory Management work area to create the request.
  • Set the Destination Type attribute on your request to Inventory or to Expense.
  • Set the Transfer Type attribute on your request to Inter Organization or to Intra Organization.
  • Create and submit more than one request for one or more destination organizations.
  • Your request can use the item's primary UOM or nonprimary UOM.
  • Accept the supply source that provides the optimal fulfillment, or select another source from a list of sources that Supply Chain Orchestration automatically ranks for you according to availability.
  • Create a transfer request for a project.

Integrate and Extend Procurement Using REST Resources

In this update, Oracle Fusion Cloud Procurement and Oracle Fusion Cloud Self Service Procurement deliver modified REST resources to enable and simplify integration with external systems.

The following REST resources were previously available, and have been updated:

  • Purchase Requisitions
    • The Submit action is enhanced to support a new funds reservation point: Submission.
    • Use the checkFunds custom action to check funds for a requisition indicating if the requisition passed or failed funds check.
    • Use the DestinationSubinventory attribute to set or update a destination subinventory (for destination type = Inventory) on requisition lines.
    • The Cancel custom action (at the header level) is enhanced to support cancellation of specific lines that aren't placed on an order.
    • Use the RejectedReason attribute to display the reason the requisition was automatically rejected.
  • Requisition Preferences
    • Use the DestinationSubinventory attribute to select a destination subinventory (for destination type = Inventory) in your preferences setup.
    • Use the new Purchasing News child REST resource to get purchasing news information for a requisitioning business unit that's configured in your preferences.
  • Shopping Catalog Item Details
    • Use the getItemExtendedAttributes custom action to retrieve extensible flexfield (EFF) details for a master item that's configured in the Product Information Management work area.
  • Draft Purchase Orders
    • Use the deleteChangeOrder custom action to delete an incomplete change order as a procurement requester or buyer.
    • Use the updateAllLines custom action to mass update attributes on lines of a change order as a procurement requester.
    • Use the calculateTaxAndAccounting custom action as a procurement requester or buyer to calculate tax and derive the charge account when any tax determinants or input sources of transactional account builder are modified on a purchase order.
    • Use the summaryAttributes custom action as a procurement requester to get summarized information on deliver-to locations, charge accounts, projects, requester, and amounts from the lines, schedules, and distributions of a purchase order.
  • Procurement Approved Supplier List Entries
    • GET, POST, and PATCH are supported for descriptive flexfield (DFF) attributes in approved supplier list entries.
  • Approved Supplier List Source Documents
    • GET, POST, and PATCH are supported for DFF attributes in source documents for each approved supplier list entry.
  • Supplier Negotiation Responses
    • GET is supported for price breaks and quantity-based price tiers that are proposed by suppliers in a response.

You can use these new and modified REST resources to simplify integrations and support standards-based interoperability with your other applications and external systems.

Steps to Enable

Review the REST service definition in the REST API guides to leverage (available from the Oracle Help Center > your apps service area of interest > APIs & Schema). If you are new to Oracle's REST services you may want to begin with the Quick Start section.

Key Resources

Access Requirements

Refer to the Privileges section in the REST API for Oracle Fusion Cloud Procurement documentation, available on the Oracle Help Center.

Position Hierarchy Routing Delegates to Other Users Based on Vacation Rules

When users go on vacation, they can define vacation rules so that when they’re out of office, tasks can be reassigned, delegated, or have additional assignments. If you’re using a Position list builder to route workflow tasks, when a user with a position that’s been assigned a task has an active vacation rule, the rule takes effect as long as there are five or less users in that position. Tasks assigned to a position can’t be reassigned or delegated, so the user defined in the vacation rule is assigned the task in addition to the other users in that position.

Position-based assignments are added according to vacation rules.

Steps to Enable

You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.

Tips And Considerations

This feature is specific to vacation rules, and may not work in other contexts. For example, using the Transaction Console work area to reassign tasks based on the Position list builder isn't supported.

Selected Self Service Procurement Bug Fixes in This Update

This update includes some bug fixes that can change the way Oracle  Self Service Procurement works. This isn't a full list of all the bug fixes in this update. This list includes the bug fixes that can cause a noticeable change in application behavior.

Enhanced Additional Information for Project Task in Approvals Configuration

Before update 23D, the Task LOV, under the Requisition Distribution dimension in the Conditions region of the Edit Approval Rules UI, only displayed the project task name and the task description in the Additional Information column. But, the task name isn't unique and description is optional, which makes it difficult for you to select the right task for the approvals condition. In this update, the Additional Information column in the Task LOV is enhanced to display the project name, task number, and task description separated by a comma.

Allow Display and Edit of Manufacturer Details only for Goods based Requisitions in Smart Forms and Non Catalog Requests

Before update 23D, requesters could view and edit the Manufacturer and Manufacturer Part Number for service-related Noncatalog and Smart Form requests. With this release, you can view and edit manufacturer and manufacturer part number details only for requisitions that use Line Type of Goods in the Responsive Self Service Procurement application. For requisitions that use a line type other than Goods, even if the smart form has this information configured, it won't be available for use when creating requisitions.

Steps to Enable

You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.

Responsive Self Service Procurement Application

Create Requisitions for Inventory Destinations

You can now use the Responsive Self Service application to create Inventory destination type requisitions. Using this feature, you can:

  • Specify Inventory as the default value in your user preferences.
  • Specify Inventory and subinventory for a specific requisition line or for all items in the cart.

Prior to this release, you could only create requisitions for Expense destination types.

These screen captures illustrate the feature.

If you want to use the Create Requisitions for Inventory Destinations feature, then you must opt in to its parent feature: Procure Goods and Services Using the Responsive Self Service Procurement Application. If you’ve already opted in to this parent feature, then you don’t have to opt in again.

Tips And Considerations

  • You can't specify a preferred subinventory as part of your requisition preferences.
  • Destination type attribute will be visible only if you have the privilege to create Inventory destination-type requisitions.
  • To create project-based requisitions for Inventory destinations, the inventory organization must be enabled for project-tracking.
  • Charge account for requisitions created for inventory destinations will be derived using Transaction Account Builder (TAB). Unlike Expense destination requisitions, you cannot manually update the charge account details.
  • Smart form-based requisitions, Noncatalog Requisitions (NCR), and requisitions without master items can't be created with Inventory destination.

Key Resources

Access Requirements

Users who are assigned a role that contains these privileges can access this feature:

If you want to use the Display Purchasing News feature, then you must opt in to its parent feature: Procure Goods and Services Using the Responsive Self Service Procurement Application. If you’ve already opted into this parent feature, then you don’t have to opt in again.

Tips And Considerations

The news content supports Rich Text Format (RTF). The content can have bulleted lists, formatted text, and links to other pages.

Key Resources

  • An administrator must add the news content using Oracle Fusion Cloud Self Service Procurement. After the content is added, the purchasing news will be visible on the Responsive Self Service Procurement application. To know more about how to add the purchasing news content, refer to the Display Purchasing News topic.

Access Requirements

Users who are assigned a configured job role that contains this privilege can access this feature:

  • Manage Requisition with the Responsive Self Service Procurement Application (POR_MANAGE_REQ_WITH_PWA_PRIV).

This privilege was available prior to this update.

Display Rejection Reason for Autorejected Requisitions

You can now view the rejection reason for a requisition when it's automatically rejected based on approval rules. This lets you make necessary changes without seeking help from the administrator. Before this update, you could not know why a requisition was autorejected. The reason for rejection will be available only for requisitions rejected after the application upgrade to this version.

These screen captures illustrate the feature.

Rejection Reason on the My Requisitions Page

Rejection Reason on the Requisition Details Page

You can now identify requisitions that are automatically rejected by the new Autorejected label on the Home page, My Requisitions page, and Requisition Details page.

Autorejected Requisition on the Home Page

The reason for autorejected requisitions is also available in Oracle Fusion Cloud Self Service Procurement in the Document History and FYI notifications, both in the email and the application.

Steps to Enable

Use the Opt In UI to enable this feature. For instructions, refer to the Optional Uptake of New Features section of this document.

Offering: Procurement

  1. In the Setup and Maintenance work area, go to the Manage Standard Lookups task.
  1. Search for the ORA_POR_AUTO_REJECT_REASON lookup type.
  1. Add a new lookup code here. The lookup code is the name of the rule resulting in automatic rejections, and the lookup description serves as the functional reason for rejection.

Set Up Functional Reasons for Autorejection Rules

Tips And Considerations

  • The lookup code has a limit of 30 characters to define a rejection reason for the autorejection rule.
  • Rule names can't have spaces and non-alphanumeric characters.
  • You must rename the existing autorejection rules to add functional reasons to them.
  • When no description is provided corresponding to a lookup code configured for an autorejection rule, the rule name will be displayed as the rejection reason.

Key Resources

Access Requirements

Users who are assigned a configured job role that contains this privilege can access this feature:

  • Manage Requisition with the Responsive Self Service Procurement Application (POR_MANAGE_REQ_WITH_PWA_PRIV).

This privileges was available prior to this update.

To set up this feature, you'll need a configured job role that contains these existing privileges:

  • Manage Application Standard Lookup (FND_APP_MANAGE_STANDARD_LOOKUP_PRIV)
  • Manage Approval Task (POR_MANAGE_APPROVAL_TASK_PRIV)

Enforce Requester-Provided Description for Requisitions

You can now ensure requesters provide a description for a requisition in the Responsive Self Service Procurement application. Before this update, the description from the first item added to the requisition was used as the description for the requisition unless modified by the requester. The description will no longer be automatically filled when you opt in to this feature. This feature is useful for businesses requiring their requesters to enter descriptions in their own format or based on prescribed formats.

When this feature is enabled, requesters must enter the description manually by editing the requisition from the Cart page.

These screen captures illustrate the feature.

Edit Requisition to Add Description

The description, when available, is displayed in the requisition summary.

Steps to Enable

Use the Opt In UI to enable this feature. For instructions, refer to the Optional Uptake of New Features section of this document.

Offering: Procurement

If you want to use the Enforce Requester-Provided Description for Requisitions feature, then you must also opt in to its parent feature: Procure Goods and Services Using the Responsive Self Service Procurement Application.

Tips And Considerations

  • You can save requisitions in a draft state without a description. However, you must enter a description to submit the requisition.
  • Even when you don't opt in, this update enhances how the requisition description is automatically filled. You can change items in your requisition, and the description will be automatically filled from the first item of the final cart only after you submit the requisition.

Key Resources

Access Requirements

Users who are assigned a configured job role that contains this privileges can access this feature:

  • Manage Requisition with the Responsive Self Service Procurement Application (POR_MANAGE_REQ_WITH_PWA_PRIV).

This privileges was available prior to this update.

View, Edit, and Cancel Orders Associated with Requisitions

View, edit, and cancel purchase orders associated with requisitions using the My Requisitions page in the Responsive Self Service Procurement application. You can also cancel transfer orders associated with the requisitions.

Here's a list of features:

  • View Order: View Order action is now available at the line level. It is displayed if the line is processed into a purchase order and you have the required privileges. You can use this to view the purchase order details in the Oracle Fusion Cloud Application. You can also navigate to the view order page using the Purchase Order link.

View Order for a Line

  • Edit: You can now use the header level Edit action to create a change order on a purchase order if all the lines on the requisition are placed on a single purchase order based on your privileges.

You can make the desired changes on the Change Order pages. You can update Delivery, Project costing, and Charge account details using the edit icons on the change order. Using the back button, you can return to the My Requisitions page while retaining the draft change order. If a draft is not submitted, the link text on the lines in My Requisitions is modified to include the indicative text "Change order pending submission".

Change Order Creation

You can continue making edits before submission. On submission of the change order, you will see a confirmation, and the indicative text shows “Change order pending approval”.

Change Order Submission Confirmation

This indicative text is automatically removed when the change order is implemented or canceled. It changes to “Change order pending submission” if the change order is rejected or withdrawn.

In addition to the above enhancements, the Edit action is now introduced at the line level, allowing the editing of a requisition or creating a change order if the line has an associated purchase order.

  • Cancel: Before this update, you could only cancel the individual requisition lines that weren’t placed on either a purchase or transfer order. In this update, you can use the requisition header level cancel action to cancel the eligible requisition lines or the associated order lines.

Cancel a Requisition

When you cancel a requisition:

  • The eligible requisition lines that aren’t placed on an order will be canceled.
  • If the lines are placed on a transfer order, then the transfer order lines will be canceled.
  • If the lines are placed on a purchase order, then a cancellation request will be submitted through a change order. You can track this request through the status badge. The badge will show Cancellation pending status when the change order is pending approval.

Cancellation Request Submitted

After the change order is implemented, the status will be shown as Order canceled if the entire quantity is canceled. If the items are partially shipped, the quantity will be reduced to the shipped quantity on the order lines, and the badge will show the latest life cycle status (For example, Shipped or Delivered).

In addition, line-level cancel action is enhanced to allow cancellation after the requisition line is placed on an order.

Steps to Enable

Use the Opt In UI to enable this feature. For instructions, refer to the Optional Uptake of New Features section of this document.

Offering: Procurement

If you want to use the View, Edit, and Cancel Orders Associated with Requisitions feature, then you must opt in to its parent feature: Procure Goods and Services Using the Responsive Self Service Procurement Application. If you’ve already opted into this parent feature, then you don’t have to opt in again.

Tips And Considerations

  • You can't create change orders if the associated purchase order contains a line having multiple distributions.
  • To cancel a change order, you can navigate to the View Order page from the responsive application and access the change order link.
  • You can't cancel the remaining quantity on the transfer order line associated with the requisition line when it's shipped partially.
  • You can perform View Order and Cancel actions on requisitions, irrespective of which application was used to create requisitions.

If you want to use the Display Item Extensible Information for Master Items in Requisition Search Results feature, then you must opt in to its parent feature: Procure Goods and Services Using the Responsive Self Service Procurement Application. If you’ve already opted in to this parent feature, then you don’t have to opt in again.

Tips And Considerations

  • To see extensible flexfields (EFFs) details on the Product Details page, EFFs must be configured in the Product Management offering. EFFs about Procurement functional area, Procurement usage, and Item context usage can be displayed on the product Details page.
  • EFFs will be displayed only on the Product Details page in the read-only mode. No additional configuration in the Responsive Self Service Procurement application is needed to display these details on the Product Details page.
  • EFF details for any item are controlled by EFF configuration in the Product Management offering.
  • None of the attributes will be displayed if all attributes within the attribute group are null.
  • All attributes will be displayed if one of the attributes within the attribute group isn't null.
  • Multirow EFFs will be displayed after single-row attributes.
  • Multirow EFFs will be displayed in a tabular format, whereas single-row EFFs will be displayed in the format where other item attributes are displayed in the More Details section.
