Streamline management and calculation of open-ended absences. The applicable payment percentage defined during plan setup determines the entitlement calculation for open-ended absences.
When you enter an open-ended absence, entitlements are calculated for 365 days. You can extend the calculation in 90 calendar day intervals until an end date is entered for the absence. For example, an employee schedules an open-ended absence:
- The absence is calculated for 365 calendar days. Rows for activities Qualified Entitlement and Entitlement Exceeded are displayed.
- A new row is displayed with an activity of Pending Evaluation. This is a marker for extending the calculation for another 90 days if the absence is still open-ended at the end of the 365 days.
Display of Entitlements for Open-Ended Absences
This feature is applicable only for absence types associated with qualification plans.
To extend the open-ended absence process, run the Evaluate Absences process using the Schedule and Monitor Absence Processes task in the Absences work area.
Run the Evaluate Absences Process and Select Evaluate Only Open-Ended Absences
Steps to Enable
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.

Oracle Time and Labor is a comprehensive, easy to use, rule-based time recording and management application. The calendar-based time entry interface and fully configurable time card layout easily address simple and complex time recording needs. Rule templates and the real-time rules engine provide an extensible and robust method to validate time entries and automatically apply pay rules, such as overtime calculations. Time and Labor now integrates completely with the following Oracle Cloud Human Capital Management applications: Global Human Resources, Absence Management, Global Payroll, and Project Costing. This integration insures accurate and consistent data for payroll processing and costing as well as project management billing.
Improve web clock by validating the device time with the network time while clocking, with an allowable time disparity. If the device time does not match with the network time, then the network time is used on the time event and the device time is saved as additional information.
Steps to Enable
You configure the allowable difference between device and network time on the Web Clock Layout. Edit this layout using the either of these tasks and work areas:
- Manage Time Layout Sets task in the Setup and Maintenance work area
- Manage Layout Sets task in the Time Management work area
Edit the Web Clock Layout to Configure the Appropriate Properties for the Associated Workers
You view the time attributes associated with a time event using the Manage Time Events task in the Time Management work area. If a discrepancy arises, the event time is the network time. The associated time attributes would include the Device Time attribute with the corresponding time on the worker's device.
View the Time Attributes Associated with a Time Event Using the View Icon in the Relevant Time Event Row
Exception Handling Enhancements
Your managers can edit any attribute and partially fix a time card with a status of incomplete or in error, then apply those changes. Previously managers had to fix all issues before they could save or submit the revised time card.
Edit Your Worker's Time Card, Including the Time Entry on Tuesday, November 13, Which Is Missing the Stop Time, and Apply Your Changes
Now, you can more quickly edit classic time card entries when multiple entries compose a single row. You select the row with the time entry that you want to edit. Next, on the Actions menu, you select Ungroup Entries. Then, you select the date of the time entry that you want to edit, such as Monday, November 12. Clicking OK removes that time entry from the existing row and adds a new row on the time card with just that time entry, ready for your edits.
Select the Row with the Time Entry that You Want to Edit and Then, on the Actions Menu, Select Ungroup Entries
Select the Date of the Time Entry that You Want to Edit
Now, when you configure Out and In or In and Out clock events for web clock buttons, you can select individual time attribute values for each In and the Out event composing the clock event. Configure web clock buttons using the Manage Time Entry Layout Components task in the Setup and Maintenance work area.
Select the Payroll Time Type Attribute Value for the Individual In and Out Events that Compose the Out and In or In and Out Clock Events
You can now account for related time attributes with enhanced matching of In and Out events received from clock devices. For example, an In event received for starting a regular hourly shift cannot be completed by an Out event received for ending a meal break. You add these time attributes for event matching in a new section on time device processing profiles. Configure these profiles using the Manage Time Device Processing Profiles task in either the Setup and Maintenance or Time Management work areas. The Generate Time Cards from Time Collection Device process uses the attributes to match In and Out events when creating time card entries. You schedule this process using the Manage Scheduled Processes task in the Time Management work area.
Add the Time Attributes, Such as Payroll Time Type, for In and Out Event Matching
You can also now account for event chronology with improved time entry generation from device events. An Out event that should complete the morning shift time entry can be received after all other events for the day, such as the In and Out events for the afternoon shift time entry. This final Out event automatically completes the time entry for the morning shift.
Steps to Enable
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.
Diagnostics and Corrections Introduction
Your administrators can now run diagnostic processes on time cards, time events, and layout sets to identity issues and optionally correct them automatically. Examples of issues and corrections are:
- Time cards issues can be due to invalid assignments, mismatched absence data, multiple statuses, version statuses, or transfer failures. For example, a time card might have two statuses in the database and the correction process keeps just the most recent one.
Diagnose and Correct, or Only Diagnose Time Issues for Time Cards
- Time event correction can be the deletion of unprocessed time events or the reset of statues for failed time events. Time event corrections can be done by either a process or the manager.
Diagnose and Correct, or Only Diagnose Time Issues for Time Events
Manually Correct Time Event Issues Using Actions on the Manage Time Events Page in the Time Management Work Area
- Layout set issues typically involve unused time attribute mappings.
Diagnose and Correct, or Only Diagnose Time Issues for Layout Sets
You schedule the Diagnose and Correct Time Issues process in the Time Management work area using the Manage Scheduled Processes task.
Steps to Enable
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.
Tips And Considerations
The Diagnose and Correct Time Issues process doesn't correct time cards with exceptions, incomplete entries, or other errors.
