Government of Botswana Consolidated Platforms with Oracle ERP Cloud

Government of Botswana

Botswana is a landlocked country located in southern Africa. Formerly the British protectorate of Bechuanaland, Botswana adopted its new name after becoming independent within the Commonwealth on September 30, 1966. Since then, it has maintained a strong tradition of stable representative democracy, with a consistent record of uninterrupted democratic elections.

In its bid to become a society of proficient users and innovators of ICT to propel social and economic development, the Botswana government has instituted an egovernment program to make available government information and services online, thereby significantly improving public-service delivery across all segments of society.

With approximately 13 customer-facing Oracle applications and databases to manage, the government of Botswana deployed Oracle ERP Cloud to consolidate reporting processes and connect Oracle solutions across both local and central government.

Everything will fall into one place whereby both central government and local government are now sitting on one platform, which is Oracle.

Baxters Food Group is a family-owned food manufacturer employing 1,500 people. The company is well known in the United Kingdom for its soups, preserves, condiments, and chutneys.

Challenges

As a growing global business, Baxters needed tools in place that would empower the business to unlock more value from its data.

The team was using a combination of legacy on-premises Hyperion Essbase systems and complicated Excel models for tasks such as gross margin planning, forecasting, and budgeting. This was time-consuming and prone to errors. What’s more, Baxters’ units in Canada and Australia carried out forecasting tasks offline.

Solutions

Using a combination of Oracle Business Analytics Foundation Suite, Oracle Financial Analytics, Oracle Supply Chain Analytics, and Oracle Procurement and Spend Analytics, Baxters has been able to leverage accurate information delivered in a modern format, allowing executives to make more-informed decisions faster.

By opting for off-the-shelf, cloud-based solutions, the company has minimised its small IT team’s maintenance workload so it can work more strategically with accurate, up-to-the-minute forecasts.

Eliminated time spent managing infrastructure and upgrades.

Oracle provides best-practice, out-of-the-box solutions for our manufacturing environment. With Oracle Planning and Budgeting Cloud Service, together with Oracle E-Business Suite and Oracle’s analytics solutions, we have a very stable platform on which to grow our business.
